WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senate Budget Committee chairman Patty Murray (D-WA) and House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) announced that they have reached a two-year budget agreement in advance of the budget conference’s December 13th deadline.
“I’m proud of this agreement,” said Chairman Ryan. “It reduces the deficit—without raising taxes. And it cuts spending in a smarter way. It’s a firm step in the right direction, and I ask all my colleagues in the House to support it.”

Washington, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement after Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski announced sweeping new internet regulations.
“I am disappointed with Chairman Genachowski’s decision to push forward with a partisan proposal to regulate the Internet in the face of a court that has questioned his authority, a Congress that has questioned his policy, and an American people that have said we need less government, not more. I am also troubled by the process under which the proposed rules have been crafted. The companies that power our economy should not be forced to choose between bad and worse. Rest assured we intend to conduct rigorous oversight and explore all our legislative options to put things back on the proper track.
"If last month’s election told us anything, it’s that Americans are exasperated by the explosive growth of government and the higher taxes and burdensome regulations that come with it. Imposing net neutrality requirements would significantly harm a key industry by shackling it with unnecessary and anti-competitive regulations at a time when we can least afford it. Make no mistake, a thriving broadband industry will be a crucial piece of the private sector in the years ahead, and we must do everything we can to ensure long-term broadband investment and availability."
You’re invited to a drop-in honoring Tim Scott Conservative Republican for Congress and special guest Congressman Eric Cantor, U.S. House Republican Whip.
This special event takes place Sunday, October 17th , 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the home of Chad & Jena Walldorf , 3112 Marshall Boulevard , Sullivan’s Island, SC 29482.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) was awarded this week with the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence based on his strong voting record on behalf of American workers and manufacturers in the 111th Congress. This award recognizes members of Congress who are committed to pro-growth and pro-manufacturing policies that will grow the economy and create quality jobs.
“The United States is the most productive and innovative nation in history, and American manufacturers are a big reason why. Yet, I remain concerned that when I meet with local manufacturers in Virginia, they tell me that in order to remain competitive we must stop Washington’s assault on our free enterprise system. Faced with increasing uncertainty, they don’t know which burdensome tax hike, regulation or mandate will come next, and therefore are reluctant to hire new employees, assume risk and make investments—all crucial components of any economic recovery.
“Hard-working Americans need a signal that their government finally gets it. We can start by cutting spending, reining in the size of government, and replacing overregulation with smart regulation. These steps will help get Americans back to work and our economy going again. Right now, we must focus on fostering an economic environment conducive to investment, innovation and job creation which is why I will continue to fight for lower taxes and less government regulations on the working people of Virginia,” Congressman Cantor said.
Background: The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is the nation’s largest industrial trade association representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states. Voting records for all members of Congress are available at www.nam.org/111thCongress. The NAM is non-partisan, does not have a political action committee and does not endorse candidates. ###

Cantor Calls on House to Support Common Sense Boehner Proposal.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement in support of John Boehner’s proposal to contain government spending at 2008 levels and prevent taxes from being raised on January 1. Cantor called upon all of his colleagues, Republican and Democrat, to support the simple, common-sense proposal:
"President Obama just doesn't get it - our government simply cannot keep spending money that it doesn't have, and it certainly cannot threaten small business people and job creators with massive tax hikes if the goal is to get people back to work.
Today Leader Boehner challenged the President to support two simple measures that many in the House, Republicans and Democrats, could embrace—cutting government spending and preventing massive tax hikes on all Americans. Job creators, small business owners, and investors don’t know which burdensome tax hike, regulation or mandate will come next, and therefore are reluctant to hire new employees, assume risk and make investments—all crucial components of any economic recovery. Americans need a signal that their government finally gets it – stopping the reckless spending and removing the threat of massive tax hikes is a great way to start.
“The White House continues to blindly throw darts at the board and hope for a bullseye. That is not the kind of economic leadership required to overcome the serious challenges facing our country. There is a better way. For the last 18 months, Republicans have focused on cutting spending and creating jobs by offering better alternatives than the Democrat majority that specifically address the economic uncertainties facing our country. Washington has a spending problem, and the policies of the Obama Administration and the Pelosi/Reid Congress have caused the size and reach of the government to explode. Every member of the House should embrace this simple, common-sense proposal that will signal that the government is finally ready to start getting its fiscal house in order."

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement in response to the ruling by Judge Henry Hudson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia which rejected the Obama Administration’s attempt to dismiss Virginia’s lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Democrats' trillion dollar health care overhaul:
"The Democrats' trillion dollar health care overhaul will raise taxes on working families and small businesses, cut Medicare benefits for seniors, increase the cost of insurance premiums for many Virginians, and burden our state with unfunded mandates we simply cannot afford.
"Virginia has taken the lead, with more than a dozen other states, by challenging the constitutionality of the health insurance mandate requiring all Americans to purchase health insurance or face a penalty, as well as passing the Virginia Health Care Freedom Act protecting the people of the Commonwealth from being forced to do so.
I fully support these efforts and will continue to advocate proposals to improve health care, while protecting individual choices and freedoms.
"Governor McDonnell, Attorney General Cuccinelli, and the people of Virginia understand we need to repeal this harmful health care law. Republicans will use every tool available to repeal it and replace it with a more incremental approach that will lower costs, provide affordable state-based health care options, and empower doctors and patients." ###
“The Democrats will go home to their districts, as we to ours, and find out from the people what we already know – that despite their claims of accomplishment, the agenda that they have pushed over the last year and a half is just not the agenda that the American people want.”
“As we head towards the August recess, it is clear that the Democrats will go home to their districts, as we to ours, and find out from the people what we already know – that despite their claims of accomplishment, the agenda that they have pushed over the last year and a half is just not the agenda that the American people want.
"August will be a time for us to draw the contrast between their attempts to lead by passing an agenda that doesn’t fit with the mainstream of this country and frankly the kind of policies that we as Republicans stand for.
"Clearly, there’s one party that believes we ought to empower small businesses, there’s one party who doesn’t. There’s one party who believes that now is the time to raise taxes in the depth of a horrific recession and there’s one party that doesn’t. There’s one party that believes in free enterprise, that believes that we can create jobs through empowering the private sector, there’s one party that’s clearly chosen the other route by expanding government. There’s one party with the Democrats who believe that the answer to our health care needs is to expand government over a trillion dollar bill that they demonstrated and then there are the Republicans who believe very clearly that we can bring down costs by empowering individuals to make their own choices by increasing competition.
"So despite what the other side believes, the last 18-plus months has had an impact. No matter how much they want it to go away. No matter how much they don’t agree with the reality, which is the negative consequences of their agenda, they’ll go home to find out from their constituents as will we.” ###

WASHINGTON – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., released the following statement on the low ObamaCare enrollment numbers released today.
“The 27,000 enrollments through federally facilitated exchange pale in comparison to the millions of Americans who have lost their health insurance under ObamaCare,” Issa stated.
