Lower Taxes=More Jobs: "Nancy Pelosi, John Adler and the career politicians in Washington, DC don't get it. The only way to improve our economy and create jobs is to cut taxes and reduce federal spending. The biggest difference between me and John Adler is that he believes in government, while I believe in the American people."

Jon Daniel Runyan, 36, was born in Flint, Michigan. His father worked for General Motors for nearly 30 years and his Mom largely stayed home and raised Jon and his two younger twin brothers.

National Republican Senatorial Committee Democrats’ desperate claims “Extreme” VIDEO TEXT

NRSC Launches New Web Ad: “Extreme”

As voters across the nation continue to voice their strong opposition to President Barack Obama and his Democrats’ costly job-killing agenda in Washington, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) launched a new Web ad revealing which party’s principles are actually too extreme.

The NRSC’s new Web ad responds to the Democrats’ desperate claims that Republicans are extremists, while exposing the reality that most Americans view the Democrats’ agenda as out-of-touch. For instance, 60 percent favor the repeal of ObamaCare, 56 percent disapprove of Obama’s job performance, 61 percent favor an Arizona-like immigration law in their state, and 68 percent oppose the Ground Zero mosque.

The video also examines recent U.S. Senate surveys where Republicans are leading or neck-and-neck in key swing states – including Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, New Hampshire, California, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nevada, Washington, and Florida – which demonstrates voters’ discontent with the Democrat agenda in Washington.

Rubberstamp Robin Carnahan today told Kansas City radio station KMBZ that she will not oppose the plan to build the controversial Ground Zero mosque. When asked if she supports Barack Obama's position on building the mosque, Carnahan told KMBZ: "Look, I'm not going to try to tell folks in New York what to do and I don't want them trying to tell us in Missouri what to do so in the end it's going to have to be their decision. I think this is a time where we ought to be trying to get people of all faiths to come together not divide them."

by Sarah Palin on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:53am

(MONTGOMERY, AL) – Today (08/18/10), on the 90th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote, Sarah Palin announced her endorsement of fellow conservative Martha Roby, Republican nominee in Alabama’s Second Congressional District.

The former Alaska Governor and 2008 Vice Presidential candidate announced the endorsement in a note to supporters on her popular Facebook page.

“I am very grateful for Governor Palin’s endorsement and her kind words,” said Martha Roby. “She is an important leader in the conservative movement, and like many others I was inspired and motivated by her leadership and grace when she took the national stage in 2008.”

“Governor Palin knows that we need to send conservative leaders with common sense to Washington,” said Roby. “She understands that preserving our freedom is what’s most important to this great nation, not the Democrats’ agenda to grow our government and mortgage away our children's future. I’m proud to have her support in my campaign.” ###

Colorado's Republican Study Committee get advice on crafting an immigration law similar to Arizona's

RSCC members meet with their counterparts in Arizona

RSCC members meet with their counterparts in Arizona.
Eleven state legislators from Colorado, members of the Republican Study Committee of Colorado, visited Arizona this week to meet with their counterparts in the Arizona legislature. Members discussed SB-1070, current AZ laws that apply to illegal immigration, and several other topics
Dave Schultheis of Colorado Springs, Scott Renfroe of Greeley and Kevin Lundberg of Berthoud, are part of the 11-member travel group, which includes most of the "Republican Study Committee of Colorado". State Rep. Kent Lambert, who's running to replace the term-limited Schultheis in the senate, Reps. Randy Baumgardner, R-Hot Sulphur Springs, Laura Bradford, R-Grand Junction, and Ken Summers, R-Lakewood, are also making the trip, along with three Republicans running for statehouse seats.

Democrats should get on board with Arizona's immigration law. By: Senator Dave Schultheis.

While it might come as a shock to Democrats — such as Boulder liberal and U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., most of America is applauding Arizona for taking control of illegal immigration within its borders.

Simply put, the law requires police to check with federal authorities on a person’s immigration status if officers have already stopped that person for a legitimate reason and have a reasonable suspicion the person might be in the United States illegally.

Polis and his colleagues would have the public believing the Arizona law will scare and scapegoat American citizens of certain ethnic heritages.

Opponents love to call the new law “racist,” and Polis even compared it to the policies of Nazi Germany and state sponsored genocide.

Give me a break.

According to a poll conducted by NBC and the Wall Street Journal, one in three Hispanics in the United States said they support the law.

Are they being racist against people of their own ethnicity?

That same poll goes on to note that 64 percent of all adults support Arizona’s new immigration law.

And it’s not just Republicans who think this is a good idea. Half of all Democrats polled say they support the law and two-thirds of Independents polled support it.

The law makes clear that if the person produces a valid driver’s license or other state-issued identification he or she is presumed to be in the United States legally.

Since when has a police officer, asking someone for a driver’s license after making a stop, a “racist” action?

Nearly every American has a driver’s license or some form of identification. If a person lacks proper identification it is reasonable to suspect he or she might be here illegally.

To further demonstrate his disconnect with the American people, Polis has thrown his support behind an “immigration reform” proposal that is supported by the likes of Sens. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Charles Schumer, D-New York.

“If (illegal immigrants) obey our laws, learn our language and pay our taxes, we will welcome (them) to American,” Polis wrote in an editorial.

Polis can call it “comprehensive reform” all he wants. He can dress it up and call it whatever he chooses. But any proposal that allows people who are here illegally to cut to the front of the line is amnesty.

We are in a major recession, and we need all the jobs we can get for Colorado citizens and those who reside in Colorado legally. Polis should remember that as he and his Democratic colleagues prepare to face an electorate that is sensitive to job losses.

It is time for Democrats in Congress to start standing up for the rule of law, which they have sworn to uphold.

Republican Plan To Protect Taxpayers by Ending The Bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FULL TEXT

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Republican Plan To Protect Taxpayers by Ending The Bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FULL TEXT IN PDF FORMAT
After Nearly 400 Days of Ignoring Republican Solutions, Democrats Finally Ready to Discuss Fannie & Freddie

Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after the Obama administration held a forum to finally begin discussing what to do about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Taxpayers are currently on the hook for $6 trillion in Fannie and Freddie debt, with $150 billion already lost. House Republicans have had solutions on the table to reform these entities and end their taxpayer bailout for more than a year. Go here to read more about our solutions.

“It’s about time Democrats started talking about Fannie and Freddie,” said Congressman Price. “House Republicans have been at the table for the last 400 days with plans to end this bailout and protect taxpayers. Democrats did not even start looking for their chairs until yesterday. They have so far refused to take this issue seriously, even claiming that their so-called ‘financial reform’ law would end bailouts when in fact it does the exact opposite. Washington should never again reward reckless financial behavior with taxpayer bailouts, yet the Democrats’ notion of reform guarantees that it will.

“Democrats’ reluctance to address Fannie and Freddie is also a symptom of a larger problem – their refusal to stop spending money we do not have. Federal spending has grown to unprecedented levels under Speaker Pelosi and President Obama, even as the bailout for Fannie and Freddie grows more expensive with each passing day. We cannot afford to ignore the costs of these reckless policies any longer. Republicans are leading the way on both these issues with concrete proposals to cut bloated spending and end taxpayer bailouts for reckless financial entities.”

Tax Fighters Chamber of Commerce Endorse Carly Fiorina VIDEO

Tax Fighters Reject Barbara Boxer’s 28-Year Record of Support for Higher Taxes, Endorse Carly Fiorina for Senate
Carly FiorinaSACRAMENTO, CA - Two of the most prominent tax-fighting organizations in California, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA) and the National Tax-Limitation Committee (NTLC), today held a press conference in Sacramento rejecting Barbara Boxer’s 28-year record of support for higher taxes and instead endorsing Carly Fiorina, a proven fiscal conservative.
“Barbara Boxer is no friend of California taxpayers. During her nearly three decades in Washington, Boxer has consistently fought for higher taxes on California’s families and businesses, and, despite these difficult economic times, she clearly plans to continue championing bigger government funded by our taxpayer dollars,” said HJTA President Jon Coupal. “This November, we have the opportunity to finally replace this tax-and-spend liberal with a fiscal conservative: Carly Fiorina. As a U.S. senator, Carly is committed to standing with California’s taxpayers, and that is why we are endorsing her today.”

Originally called the California Tax Reduction Movement, HJTA is today supported by more than 250,000 taxpayers. HJTA is dedicated to advancing taxpayers’ rights, including the right to limited taxation, the right to vote on tax increases and the right of economical, equitable and efficient use of taxpayer dollars.

“For California taxpayers, the choice in our U.S. Senate race couldn’t be clearer: Barbara Boxer, a politician who has spent her three-decades-long political career voting for higher taxes and more government spending, versus Carly Fiorina, a strong fiscal conservative who will vote against higher taxes on our state’s families and enterprises,” said NTLC Founder and President Lew Uhler. “Californians simply cannot afford another six years of Barbara Boxer’s tax-hiking, big-spending policies; Carly, on the other hand, will ardently defend our state’s taxpayers, and we are proud to endorse her today.”

NTLC was established in 1975 to provide national leadership in fighting for limited government, lower tax rates and reduced government spending. The Committee’s mission is to help achieve the optimal size and functions of government and to promote candidates and initiatives that support these goals.

Also endorsing Fiorina today was the California Taxpayer Protection Committee, a loose-knit organization of individual volunteers and affiliated groups who believe that government spending is out of control, taxes are too high and new borrowing is not the answer.

Added California Taxpayer Protection Committee Executive Director Tom Hudson, “Unlike Barbara Boxer, who has spent more than a generation in Congress voting for higher taxes, more government spending programs and fiscally irresponsible accounting gimmicks, Carly Fiorina shares our commitment to reining in out-of-control federal spending, lowering taxes and pursuing fiscally responsible policies that will not burden our children and our grandchildren with higher and higher debt. Carly will go to Washington to fight for and defend our fellow taxpayers, and that’s why we are proud to give her our strongest support.”

“When a teenager develops a spending problem, responsible parents will cut up his credit card. Likewise, our nation’s taxpayers are cutting up Washington’s credit card. With our debt and our deficit hitting record levels, Americans are calling for an end to Barbara Boxer’s 28-year record of championing big-government policies that do little else besides take more money out of taxpayers’ wallets,” said Fiorina. “I’ve pledged not to vote for new or increased taxes as a member of the U.S. Senate because I believe we’ve sent Washington enough of our money. It’s time we hold our government accountable for how it spends our money, and I look forward to working with my fellow tax fighters to protect California’s taxpayers in the months and years ahead.

On the day she announced her intention to run for U.S. Senate, Fiorina signed the Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge, committing that she will never vote for new or increased taxes. Instead, her economic growth plan (IN PDF FORMAT) is founded on the principle that lower taxes will help stimulate the private-sector job creation and growth we need to lead our nation out of this economic downturn. For her fiscal conservative values, Fiorina previously earned the endorsements of the Orange County Taxpayers Association Political Action Committee and the Taxpayers League Liberty Fund.

Phil Gingrey Obamacare Death Panels VIDEO

Congressman Gingrey discusses breast cancer drug, Avastin, on Cavuto 8-17-2010.

“According to Dr. Berwick, however, the question ‘is not whether or not we will ration care – but whether we will do so with our eyes open.’ To be frank, Dr. Berwick’s outspoken support of health care rationing is completely at odds with the Obama Administration’s statements on whether rationing is good for this country.

RITA the RINO opposes Wyoming joining the lawsuit to repeal Obamacare!! Lower Health Insurance Costs, Increase Availability

Lowering the cost of health insurance helps small business create jobs. I am an innovator when it comes to health care and will apply conservative, common sense solutions to bring insurance costs down and raise the quality and accessibility of care in Wyoming.

As Speaker of the House, I sponsored and the legislature passed HB128 that directs the Insurance Commissioner to explore with other insurance commissioners the creation of a consortium of like-minded states that could establish rules of reciprocity for the approval of comprehensive individual medical and surgical health insurance policies among the participating states and identifies matters to be considered by the commissioner in establishing rules of reciprocity, the types of policies eligible to be sold and the effect of interstate sales on regulation of domestic insurers. I believe this legislation will lower health insurance costs and increase availability for Wyoming citizens.

While we make common sense reforms at the state level, we must also push back against the federal health reform plan pushed into law by President Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. As Speaker of the Wyoming House, I have asked the Governor to direct the Attorney General to have Wyoming join in the legal challenge to healthcare reform.

Besides raising taxes on Wyoming families and small businesses, this deeply flawed law represents an unprecedented encroachment on the liberty of individuals living in the respective states by mandating that all citizens and legal residents of the United States have qualifying healthcare coverage or pay a tax penalty. The Act represents an unprecedented encroachment on the sovereignty of the states and the Act converts what had been a voluntary federal-state partnership into a compulsory top-down federal program in which the discretion of Wyoming and its sister states is removed, in derogation of the core constitutional principle of federalism upon which this Nation was founded. The Act exceeds the powers of the federal government and violates the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. As Governor, I will make sure that Wyoming is in the fight to challenge this unconstitutional federal mandate.

Rossi: Whatever Patty Murray tells President Obama will be Too Little, Too Late.

Bellevue, WA –“Like most elected officials who spend time with the President when he comes to town for political fundraisers, Patty Murray will no doubt spend time afterward touting the important conversations she had with the President about issues facing Washington state, like the cleanup of Hanford or creating jobs.
Unfortunately, for the people of Washington, it’s too late for talk. The damage has already been done by Patty Murray’s votes in the Senate.

“Senator Murray has voted repeatedly for legislation that has destroyed jobs and exploded the debt. She voted for the massive bailouts, the failed stimulus, billions in earmarks, and the job killing health care bill.

“She has failed to advocate for Washington State in regards to the disposal of high level nuclear waste located at Hanford. The President has made it clear he will not allow construction of the national nuclear waste facility at Yucca Mountain to continue as planned, which means the waste at Hanford that has been disposed of according to Yucca’s standards has no place to go. In addition, Sen. Murray allowed three Obama nominees to sail through the Senate, even though they pledged to stall the Yucca Mountain repository and keep nuclear waste in Washington.

“Finally, she has voted against extending the 2001 and 2003 tax relief which is set to expire at the end of the year. Over 2.5 million Washingtonians benefit from this critical tax relief, in the form of the child tax credit, reduction in the marriage penalty, across-the-board reductions in tax rates, including a 10% bracket for lower income families, and lower capital gains and divided taxes that spur job growth.

“At this time in the political season, talk is plentiful, but it is actions we need to evaluate. Senator Murray’s actions in the Senate have spoken much louder than anything she can possibly tell the President while he’s here.”

Sharron Angle Rory Reid's “Sins of the Father” VIDEO

New Angle Web Ad: "Sins of the Father" Latest Web Ad Uses Rory Reid's TV Ad Against His Father Harry.

Reno, NV - Today the Angle for Senate campaign released a new web ad entitled, “Sins of the Father.” The new Angle web ad uses a previous commercial from Nevada gubernatorial candidate Rory Reid that asks ‘how much lower Nevada can go?’, and poses the question to Rory's father Senator Harry Reid.

“Rory Reid has already dropped his last name in this campaign after describing his father as 'not my political mentor.' Frankly, when you look at Harry Reid's economic record, it's not hard to see why Rory is so embarrassed. The fact is, Rory is asking the right question here," said Angle Communications Director Jarrod Agen. "This state needs to be taken in a new direction. We can't afford to hand over Nevada's future to the Reid dynasty― our economy won't survive it."

FULL TEXT Transcript:

NARRATOR 1: Rory Reid wants to know.

NARRATOR 2: How much lower can we go?

NARRATOR 1: That’s a good question, Rory. Since your dad became Majority Leader, Nevada’s unemployment rate has jumped from four to fourteen percent. Home values have dropped by half. Worst of all, there are over one hundred and ninety-five thousand Nevadans out of work today with no sign of things getting better. So Nevada, how much lower can we go? There’s only one way to find out. Let Rory Reid and his dad Harry keep doing more for Nevada this November. # # #

President Obama will be in Wisconsin on Monday to headline a $10,000 per photo fundraiser for Tom Barrett, his handpicked candidate for governor.

“The hardworking families of Wisconsin do not want to pick up the tab for yet another of President Obama and Mayor Barrett’s reckless spending sprees,” said Walker. “The $810 million boondoggle train is a perfect example of the out of control taxing and spending in Washington and Madison. This is not ‘free money’ for Wisconsin – this is YOUR money. Unlike Jim Doyle and Tom Barrett, if you elect me governor, I’ll stop this train and put government back on the side of the people.”

On Monday, Scott will be holding a Brown Bag rally under the crumbling Hoan Bridge in opposition to the train.

Walker’s ad, “Yes We Can” will air statewide.

Walker: "No, let me be clear. I'd rather take that money and fix Wisconsin's crumbling roads and bridges."

Obama: "This isn't about me."

Walker: "You're right, it's about Wisconsin's hardworking families who are going to have to pick up the tab. They are going to have to spend up to $10 million a year just to keep a train running they may never ride."

Obama: "It won't happen overnight."

Walker: "Construction for this boondoggle will begin this fall and end in 2013."

Obama: "Change isn't easy..."

Walker: "…but stopping runaway government spending is. I'm Scott Walker, and if I'm elected your next governor, we'll stop this train! Working together, we can help put the government back on the side of the people again."

John Boehner Statement on Construction of Mosque Near Ground Zero

John Boehner Capitol Building

Uploaded on March 20, 2010 by House GOP Leader All rights reserved.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement regarding President Obama's endorsement of the construction of a mosque near the site of the 9/11 attacks in lower Manhattan:

"The decision to build this mosque so close to Ground Zero is deeply troubling, as is the president's decision to endorse it. The American people certainly don't support it.
"The fact that someone has the right to do something doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do. That is the essence of tolerance, peace and understanding. This is not an issue of law, whether religious freedom or local zoning. This is a basic issue of respect for a tragic moment in our history.

"We can never forget that terrible day, and the heroes who lost their lives - often in the hope that others might live. We honor their memory and their sacrifice, always."

9/11 Families Stunned by President Obama’s Support of Mosque at Ground Zero

A New York City firefighter looks up at what remains of the World Trade Center Sept. 13, 2001, after its collapse following the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. Photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Jim Watson, USNNew York, NY, Aug. 14 — Barack Obama has abandoned America at the place where America’s heart was broken nine years ago, and where her true values were on display for all to see. Since that dark day, Americans have been asked to bear the burden of defending those values, again and again and again.

Now this president declares that the victims of 9/11 and their families must bear another burden. We must stand silent at the last place in America where 9/11 is still remembered with reverence or risk being called religious bigots.

Muslims have worshipped in New York without incident both before and after the attacks of 9/11. This controversy is not about religious freedom.
9/11 was more than a “deeply traumatic event,” it was an act of war. Building a 15-story mosque at Ground Zero is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah. Those who continue to target and kill American civilians and U.S. troops will see it as a symbol of their historic progress at the site of their most bloody victory. Demolishing a building that was damaged by wreckage from one of the hijacked planes in order to build a mosque and Islamic Center will further energize those who regard it as a ratification of their violent and divinely ordered mission: the spread of shariah law and its subjugation of all free people, including secular Muslims who come to this country fleeing that medieval ideology, which destroys lives and crushes the human spirit.

We are stunned by the president’s willingness to disregard what Americans should be proud of: our enduring generosity to others on 9/11–a day when human decency triumphed over human depravity. On that day, when 3,000 of our fellow human beings were killed in barbaric act of raw religious intolerance unlike this country had ever seen, Americans did not turn outward with hatred or violence, we turned to each other, armed with nothing more than American flags and countless acts of kindness. In a breathtakingly inappropriate setting, the president has chosen to declare our memories of 9/11 obsolete and the sanctity of Ground Zero finished. No one who has lived this history and felt the sting of our country’s loss that day can truly believe that putting our families through more wrenching heartache can be an act of peace.

We will honor the memory of our loved ones. We will protect our children, whose lives will never be the same. We will not stand silent. ##

Sarah Palin Legitimate Questions for the President Ground Zero mosque

Sarah PalinMr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade.

If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite?
Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

Rick Scott Statement On President Obama’s Support To Build A Mosque Near Ground Zero

Rick Scott

By ScottForFlorida Copyright All rights reserved
Fort Lauderdale, FL – Today, Rick Scott released a statement on President Obama’s support to build a mosque neard Ground Zero:

“All Americans of course believe in absolute freedom of religion. But this is outrageous. President Obama would rather stand with the ACLU and the liberal establishment than with the 9/11 victims and their families. It is shameful and the act of a cowardly politician, not that of the leader of the United States of America.
“Building a victory monument to Mohammed Atta and the other 18 terrorists and their despicable act on 9/11 is unthinkable to me. If the same thing had happened in Florida, I would do anything and everything in my power to prevent the project from moving forward.

“It may not be politically correct to say that, but it is the truth and someone has to speak it.”

Pat Toomey Weekly Republican Address TEXT VIDEO 08/14/10

Hi, I’m Pat Toomey from the great state of Pennsylvania, and I’m pleased to have this opportunity to share a few thoughts with you today.
Pat ToomeyLike a lot of Americans all around the country, I really believe America is at a crossroads. I’ll always be optimistic about America. We’re too strong a people and too good a country to be held back for long. But I am deeply concerned about the direction we’re heading in right now.
That direction is being driven by extreme policies that are coming from one-party domination of government in Washington. And this extreme ideologically driven agenda is preventing the strong economic recovery and job creation that we should be having.

It’s time we put some real checks and balances back in place this November.

Let’s take a minute to review what’s happened in just the last 18 months. First, there were the ill-advised taxpayer funded bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the....

...car companies. Now, to be fair, the bailouts were begun under the previous administration; but the crew that’s in charge now ramped them up when it was perfectly clear that they were not accomplishing what they were supposed to.

Next, we had the so-called stimulus bill. Nearly a trillion dollars in new Washington spending, including some egregiously wasteful spending, like $2 million to study exotic ants and $30 million for a spring training baseball complex, among hundreds of other ridiculous items. Now we were told that this monster spending bill would create jobs and keep unemployment below 8%. Well, since then we’ve lost nearly 3 million more jobs and the unemployment rate hit 10%, and in some states it’s still well above that. Over 14 1/2 million Americans remain out of work.

But even that was not enough for the one-party extremists in Washington. After that, they went ahead and rammed through a $2-trillion healthcare bill, that even the official budget scorekeepers say will actually increase the cost of health insurance for individuals and families. And that’s not to mention the very serious consequences for healthcare quality of imposing government in between doctors and patients.

Now where do all these bailouts, takeovers and spending sprees leave us?

They leave us with a weak economy without job growth and with a mountain of debt for our kids.

Washington spending as a percentage of our country’s economic output has grown by 25%--practically overnight. That extravagant spending has caused a budget deficit for this year alone of $1 1/2 trillion dollars. That’s a staggering amount of debt. In fact, this Democratic administration is projected to create more debt than all the debt we accumulated in the entire history of our country from George Washington all the way through 2008, combined.

So where do we go from here?

Well, the first thing we need to do is eliminate the threats from further harmful legislation. Some elements of the Democrats’ extreme agenda have not yet been implemented, and if we want to create jobs, we need to keep it that way. For example, Democrats have tried unsuccessfully to impose a massive energy tax on all of us through a cap-and-trade bill and to take away workers’ rights with a Card Check bill. Well, first and foremost, Washington needs to stop causing even more harm.

Second, you know, there’s an old saying: When you’re in a hole, stop digging.

There are hundreds of billions of dollars that have not yet been spent in the bailout and stimulus programs. We should stop spending that now.

There are billions more in completely unnecessary and wasteful Washington spending that should stop immediately.

And finally, we need to offer American families and businesses the kind of tax cuts that will stimulate genuine private sector job growth, instead of the billions of tax increases the Democrats have already imposed and the more that they are threatening. To start, we should make the current tax rates permanent instead of raising them at the end of the year. And we should cut capital gains taxes to encourage business investment. Even prominent Democrats have recently said the last thing we should be doing in a recession is to raise taxes.

Now, I have every confidence that the 21st century can be another great American century. And I know we can have a booming economy. But to get there, we have to remember the source of our national strength. Our strength does not come from bailouts and government spending.

It comes from a free enterprise system and the hard-working honest citizens who make it run—the kind of industrious folks I see every day in Pennsylvania. When government lets these folks grow their businesses and work hard without putting obstacles in their way, that’s when we will achieve the flourishing recovery our country deserves. I’m Pat Toomey, and I thank you for listening.

After Years Of Supporting Their Left-Wing Agenda On Capitol Hill Barbara Boxer Gets Payback With Some Needed Help From Her Union Allies VIDEO

Big Love for Boxer, After Years Of Supporting Their Left-Wing Agenda On Capitol Hill, Boxer Gets Payback With Some Needed Help From Her Union Allies.

Today, Barbara Boxer Will Join With AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka For A Rally In Los Angeles:

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka Will Campaign With Boxer One Day After A New Poll Emerged That Confirmed Boxer’s Shrinking Support. "A new poll shows Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) falling further behind Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina. The SurveyUSA poll has Fiorina leading Boxer 47 percent to 42, compared to a July survey for the same San Francisco CBS affiliate that showed Fiorina ahead of Boxer by just a couple points. The poll's release comes as AFL-CIO chief Richard Trumka is set to hit Fiorina as a ‘clueless’ CEO in a speech in Los Angeles on Friday." (Sean J. Miller, "Fiorina's Lead Over Sen. Boxer Widens As Help Arrives," The Hill’s "Ballot Box" Blog, thehill.com, (8/13/10)

During Her Congressional Career, Boxer Has Marched In Lockstep With Big Labor’s Agenda:

Boxer Is A Co-Sponsor Of The Card Check Legislation Introduced In This Congress. (S. 560, Introduced 3/10/09)

* Boxer Called Card Check Legislation "Long Overdue." "The Senate recently voted on whether to end debate and call for a vote on the Employee Free Choice Act. While the majority of Senators supported this action, the vote was not sufficient to allow us to move forward. This was deeply disappointing to me because I believe that this bill, already passed by the House, is long overdue for America’s workers. I am pleased to share with you my comments on the Employee Free Choice Act and why it should become law. You can count on me to continue to work for the nation’s workers." (Sen. Barbara Boxer, "Senator Boxer On The Employee Free Choice Act," Press Release, 7/27/07)

* NOTE: Sen. Dianne Feinstein Has Said She Would Seek Less Divisive Legislation, And Said She Hoped To Find "Common Ground" Between Business And Labor."Whether you label it the ‘card check’ bill or the Employee Free Choice Act, you can also call it something else -- in deep trouble. Key senators this week appeared to cripple prospects for passing the highly polarizing measure, the labor movement’s top priority in Congress, which is aimed at making it easier for workers to join unions. The latest hurdle came Friday, when Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she would seek alternative legislation that was less divisive. Feinstein, a past sponsor of the act, cited the flailing economy as a reason; other critics of the bill have said it would drive up operating costs for businesses at a perilous time. ‘This is an extraordinarily difficult economy, and feelings are very strong on both sides of the issue,’ Feinstein said in a statement. ‘I would hope there is some way to find common ground that would be agreeable to both business and labor.’ Feinstein’s words came days after Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) declared that he would not support the bill."(James Oliphant, "Pro-Union Bill Loses Key Supporters," Los Angeles Times, 3/28/09)

Boxer Joined With The AFL-CIO In Opposing A Guest Worker Program As Part Of Comprehensive Immigration Reform. "But opposition is intensifying to a proposed guest worker program that would allow hundreds of thousands of foreign laborers to take jobs in the U.S. The AFL-CIO labor union and some Democrats -- including U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer of California and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota -- have allied with conservative immigration hawks led by Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen on this issue. They take a dim view of a guest worker program." (Mike Sunnucks, "Groups Still At Odds Over Guest Worker Proposal,"Phoenix Business Journal, 6/4/07)

Boxer Opposed At Least Eight Major Free Trade Agreements, Including NAFTA And DR-CAFTA. (H.R. 3045, CQ Vote #209: Passed (thus cleared for the president) 55-45: R 43-12; D 11-33; I 1-0, 7/28/05, Boxer Voted Nay and Feinstein Voted Yea; S. 1307, CQ Vote # 170: Passed 54-45: R 43-12; D 10-33; I 1-0, 6/30/05, Boxer Voted Nay and Feinstein Voted Yea; H.R. 2738, CQ Vote #319: Passed 65-32: R 43-7; D 22-24; I 0-1, 7/31/03, Boxer Voted Nay; H.R. 2739, CQ Vote #318: Passed 66-32: R 44-7; D 22-24; I 0-1, 7/31/03, Boxer Voted Nay; H.R. 3009, CQ Vote #207: Adopted 64-34: R 43-5; D 20-29; I 1-0, 8/1/02, Boxer Voted Nay and Feinstein Voted Yea; H.R. 3450, CQ Vote #395: Passed 61-38: R 34-10; D 27-28, 11/20/93, Boxer Voted Nay; H.R. 434, CQ Vote #353: Passed 76-19: R 46-6; D 30-13, 11/3/99, Boxer Voted Nay and Feinstein Voted Yea)

Texas' legal challenge of the offshore drilling moratorium FULL TEXT

Texas' legal challenge of the offshore drilling moratorium FULL TEXT IN PDF FORMAT Case 4:10-cv-02866 Document 1 Filed in TXSD on 08/11/10

Statement by Gov. Rick Perry on Texas Challenge of Offshore Drilling Moratorium

Gov. Rick Perry today (08/11/10) issued the following statement regarding Texas’ lawsuit against the Obama Administration over its offshore drilling moratorium:

“Once again, the Obama Administration has demonstrated a flagrant disregard for the rights and economies of states and the well-being of those whose jobs depend upon a safe and vibrant energy industry, many of whom live in Texas,” Gov. Perry said. “It is unfortunate Texas must take such action against the federal government, but I will do everything in my power to preserve our state’s economy and the jobs that feed our families. The jobs and livelihoods of too many Texans are at stake for them to be denied a voice by the Obama Administration and their federal bureaucracy.”

Court documents filed by the State set forth that the Administration unilaterally imposed its offshore drilling ban without properly coordinating with the State of Texas. Further, the Administration also improperly failed to consider the moratorium’s economic impact on Gulf Coast states, including Texas. Under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA), the Interior Secretary must coordinate with affected states and weigh a moratorium’s economic impact before imposing an offshore drilling ban. Despite the OCSLA’s requirements, the Obama Administration did not consult with Texas on either issue.

State of Texas Challenges Federal Government's Offshore Drilling Moratorium

AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott today (08/11/10) filed a legal challenge to the Obama Administration’s offshore drilling moratorium. The State’s legal challenge charges the Administration with violating a federal law that requires the Secretary of Interior to consult with affected states before imposing an offshore drilling moratorium. Filed on behalf of the State of Texas, Governor Rick Perry and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, today’s legal action names the following defendants: the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI); DOI Secretary Kenneth Salazar; the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement – formerly known as the Minerals Management Service – and BOEM Director Michael Bromwich.

“The federal government ignored the State of Texas and failed to comply with the law when the Secretary of the Interior unilaterally imposed the Administration’s offshore drilling ban,” Attorney General Abbott said. “Under federal law, affected states are guaranteed the right to participate in offshore drilling-related policy decisions, but the Obama Administration did not bother to communicate, coordinate or cooperate with Texas. Worse, the Secretary of the Interior failed to consider the economic consequences of his decision, which will cost the Texas economy millions of dollars – and threatens far too many hard-working Texans’ jobs.”

On July 12, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced the current offshore drilling moratorium without any prior notice to or communication with the State of Texas – despite the fact that Texas refines more oil than any other state. As the State’s complaint explains, an economic impact analysis produced by Louisiana State University has projected that Texas will suffer a $622 million decrease in Gross State Product because of the six-month moratorium. Thus, Texas clearly meets the statutory definition of an “affected State” under the OCSLA. Nonetheless, the Department of the Interior did not give the State of Texas an “opportunity to participate” in the federal government’s decision-making process – which constitutes a violation of the OCSLA and the Administrative Procedure Act.

As the State’s legal challenge asserts, the Administration’s failure to consult Texas led the Secretary of Interior to implement an unjustified, arbitrary and capricious policy that will inflict economic harm upon coastal communities – particularly those that are most dependent upon offshore drilling for jobs and tax revenue. The legal action seeks a court order declaring that the State of Texas must be provided a reasonable opportunity to participate in the formulation of the Secretary’s offshore policy. Further, the Secretary must give due consideration to the drilling moratorium’s economic impact.

Today’s legal challenge targets the Administration’s second offshore drilling moratorium. The first drilling moratorium, which was also imposed without proper notice to – or consultation with – the State, was retracted by the Administration after multiple private parties successfully sued the Administration in a federal district court. A June 22 decision in the federal district court for the Eastern District of Louisiana enjoined the Administration from enforcing its moratorium. Undeterred by the court ruling – and once again without notice to or consultation with Texas – the Interior Secretary simply withdrew the initial moratorium and imposed a second offshore drilling ban on July 12, which halts all drilling operations in water depths of greater than 500 feet.

Assistant Attorneys General Nicholas Canaday III and Nichole Bunker-Henderson with the Environmental Protection and Administrative Law division will serve as lead counsel to the State of Texas in this case.

President Obama's Endless Summer Of Fundraising VIDEO

With 85 days until the midterm elections, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) launched a new Web ad entitled "Obama’s Endless Summer Of Fundraising," examining the President’s busy summer schedule jet-setting around the country attending ritzy fundraisers for his embattled Democrat candidates.

Despite our national debt skyrocketing past $13 trillion, the continued wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the millions of gallons of oil pumped into the Gulf, and a long list of other daunting problems, President Obama has found time to attend 55 lavish fundraisers, play 40 rounds of golf and schmooze with celebrities on the daytime television show The View.

As the Democrats’ failed tax-and-spend agenda continues to burden voters across the country, when will the President make the problems facing everyday Americans a priority over raising big campaign cash for his embattled Democrat candidates, who have promised to rubberstamp his deeply unpopular and out-of-touch policies?
