September 10, 2010 – APPLETON, WI — Americans for Constitutional Enforcement (ACE), a Tea Party group based in northeast Wisconsin, recently announced its endorsement of Terri McCormick for Congress in Wisconsin’s Eighth District.

The mission of ACE is to “work together in voluntary cooperation with other concerned citizens of like mind to reinstate our Republic as it was formed by our Founding Fathers” and to “reaffirm our Constitution as the Supreme law of the Land.”

According to ACE President Bud LaCoy of Wausaukee, “After a careful review of all the candidates for the 8th Congressional district we have decided that Terri McCormick will receive the backing of our group.”
“We heartily endorse Terri McCormick for Congress because of her strong pledge and belief in the Constitution of the USA,” said Herb Pahlow of Dunbar, a leader in the organization.

Terri McCormick is a self-term limited lawmaker who has twice appeared on “Freedom Watch” with Judge Andrew Napolitano. She advocates constitutionally limited government, transparency in the political process, and accountability for elected officials. As a former lawmaker, she swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States. As your Congresswoman, she will fight for lower and fewer taxes, balancing the budget, and reducing regulation of private people and businesses.

“Thank you to the patriots in the ACE coalition who are always on the front lines defending freedom and our constitutional principles. It’s an honor to have earned your trust and support,” said Terri McCormick.

Roger Roth He’s One of Us VIDEO

Appleton—The Roth for Congress Campaign debuted a new television ad entitled “He’s One of Us.”

The ad gives a glimpse into Roth’s everyday life–his truck, his home, his family–and lets viewers know that one of Roth’s main priorities in Congress will be to rein in out-of-control government spending and get Americans working again so that we can preserve our great nation for future generations of Americans.

Text Transcript:

“He’s One of Us”

Roger Roth: (pulls into driveway) This is my ’93 Ford Ranger. Soon I’ll be getting collector’s plates.

Roger Roth: (walks through home; greets family in backyard) This is my home. And this is my family.

Roger Roth: I’m Roger Roth, and this is why I’m running for Congress. Washington has lost touch with the families back home. We have out of control bailouts and stimulus that do nothing to create jobs. It’s time we put Americans back to work. It’s common sense.

Roger Roth: I’m Roger Roth, and I approve this message; and I’d be honored to have your vote on September 14th.

Governor Chris Christie Proposes Rigorous Ethics Reforms Package FULL TEXT

Christie Reform AgendaProposals Strengthen Laws Governing Pay to Play, Dual Office Holding and Employment, Financial Disclosure, “Wheeling” of Campaign Contributions.
Trenton, NJ -- Governor Chris Christie today unveiled a series of rigorous ethics reform measures that reflect his commitment to change the culture of government, demand accountability and maintain the integrity of office holders and employees and the electoral process at all level of government to better serve the people of New Jersey.

The ethics plan released today represents the first specific policy proposals of the broader Christie Reform Agenda outlined by the Governor yesterday. Additional reforms to address the areas of pension and benefits, economic development and job creation, and education will be released in the coming weeks.

Among the proposals advanced today by the Governor during a Town Hall meeting in Raritan Township:

• Omnibus ethics legislation which ends dual government employment and dual office holding, requires forfeiture of pensions by convicted public officials, prohibits use of campaign funds for criminal defense costs, and redefines conflict of interest for legislators by making recusal mandatory for direct financial conflict (no more self-evaluation to determine whether the member “feels” there is or is not a conflict) and strict disclosure of legislative conflicts of interest.

• A comprehensive legislative reform package which imposes a uniform standard for awarding contracts at all levels and branches of government in New Jersey, and expands the reach of the pay-to-play law to make public labor unions subject to the same contribution and disclosure obligations as other entities doing business with the State. The bill also restricts the practice of “wheeling,” or the transfer of political donations to circumvent campaign financing laws.

Also today, the Governor conditionally vetoed A-2768 to strengthen financial disclosure and to require the Legislature and its senior staff to file the same financial disclosure statements required of the Executive Branch. The original bill sought only to prevent the Governor and State Ethics Commission from extending the filing deadline for financial disclosure statements.

“Ethics reform in New Jersey has been a patchwork of half measures that failed to be fair and uniform, left gaping loopholes for special interests to maneuver through and fell far short of what the public demands,” Governor Christie said. “These measures are about good, open and honest government, where the playing field is level for everyone and the rules are unambiguous.”

A day after his inauguration, Governor Christie signed an executive order which limited political donations by labor unions that had contracts with the state, saying that unions should be subject to the same restrictions as corporations or individual donors. That executive order was overturned in-part by a state appeals court which -- without passing judgment on the intent of the executive order -- said legislation would be required to enact the restrictions.

“This is undeniably a matter of important public policy,” Governor Christie said. “This pay-to-play reform package strengthens New Jersey’s existing laws to protect the integrity of our electoral process in a way that preserves the public’s confidence in the system. Special interests should not be in a position of deciding elections by flooding the political process with money.”

The pay-to-play reform proposal also restricts the practice of “wheeling,” by eliminating many of the exemptions on contribution limits for county or municipal political committees. The proposal – which has strong supported from the Election Law Enforcement Commission – would curtail the unlimited transfer of campaign money between committees and from committees to candidates in different parts of the state, which can unfairly impact local races.

Furthermore, the Governor’s pay to play reforms address the “Fair and Open Contract” exception by extending pay to play requirements to contributions made to legislators and county or local elected officials. Under the proposal, if a business makes a reportable contribution to any of those individuals, the business cannot receive a contract in excess of $17,500 -- as the law currently applies only to political contributions to a governor.

Obama Promises Tax Increases and More Failed "Stimulus"

Tax IncreasesDuring his speech this afternoon in Ohio, President Obama outlined his latest ideas about the economy:

Tax Increases on Small Businesses
Claim: President Obama: “We are ready, this week, to give tax cuts to every American making $250,000 or less. For any income over this amount, the tax rates would go back to what they were under President Clinton. This isn't to punish folks who are better off -- it's because we can't afford the $700 billion price tag.”

Fact: Raising taxes on small businesses is a job killer, and since when is affordability a criteria of this administration? The Obama Administration has spent $5.6 trillion in 19 months and has signed a $1.2 trillion “stimulus” that failed to create jobs and the $1.2 trillion ObamaCare bill.

In addition, according to IRS data, nearly 50 percent of small businesses are subject to the top income tax rate.

Failed Stimulus Package

Claim: President Obama: “Not everything we've done over the last two years has worked as quickly as we had hoped, and I am keenly aware that not all our policies have been popular.”

Fact: The president’s primary policy for jumpstarting the economy – his $1.2 trillion stimulus – was supposed to keep unemployment under 8 percent. However, unemployment is currently at 9.6 percent and has been above 9 percent for 16 consecutive months.

Same Failed “Infrastructure” Spending

Claim: “Now, there are still thousands of miles of roads, railways, and runways left to repair and improve. And engineers, economists, governors and mayors of every political stripe believe that if we want to compete, we need to rebuild this vital infrastructure.”

Fact: In February, 2009, President Obama claimed that because of the $150 billion for infrastructure in his first stimulus, “nearly 400,000 men and women will go to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges.” After 19 months the economy has shed 3.6 million jobs and the President wants $50 billion more to rehash the same failed borrow and spend policies.

Deficit Spending

Claim: President Obama: “Of course, they are right to be concerned about the long-term deficit -- if we don't get a handle on it soon, it can endanger our future. And at a time when folks are tightening their belts at home, I understand why a lot of Americans feel it's time for government to show some discipline too.”

Fact: 2011 is predicted to be the third straight year with deficits of more than $1 trillion. The highest one-year deficit before Mr. Obama became President was $458 billion. During the next ten years, deficits under this administration’s policies will total $8.5 trillion, by far the highest ten-year period in U.S. history. ###

Rush Limbaugh praises George Demos as a true Conservative VIDEO

Brookhaven, NY- Rush Limbaugh today praised George Demos as as a true Rush Limbaugh Conservative. Limbaugh called Randy Altschuler and Chris Cox a "couple of pro-choice country club, blue blood Republicans." Limbaugh said Randy Altschuler was "a Green Party pro-choice Republican in New Jersey before they shipped him out to Suffolk County to run against George Demos."

George Demos said:

"I am humbled and gratified by Rush Limbaugh's remarks praising me as the only Conservative in this race for Congress. As Rush observed, my opponents are liberal pro-choice Republicans and I am the only true Conservative in this race. Unlike my opponents, I wasn't sent here by party bosses to be the liberal establishment candidate. I will always fight for ou r conservative principles and stand against my liberal opponents.

We need your continued donations to defeat my liberal Republican opponents on Tuesday and ensure we send real conservatives to Congress. Our momentum is surging and we are poised to win if we can get our Conservative message out. Every amount you can donate today goes directly to fund our television and radio ads that we need to keep our Conservative message strong through election day. Thank you in advance for your donation."

SEPTEMBER 8 TRANSCRIPT:

Rush: In New York 1 there's a man running in the Republican primary names George Demos. Does that name ring a bell? He might pronounce it Demos. But he's another example of a conservative that the GOP power structure is trying to run out, just like the Dede Scozzafava race, New York 23. They're saying he can't win. Now, this guy's a literal Rush Baby. This guy is a subscriber to my e-mail. He sent a letter to my newsletter in 1995. We had an issue in my newsletter in 1995 that put me on the cover as a four-star general, and George Demos wrote a note: "As a mere 18-year-old private of the Dittohead reserves forgive me for pointing out an error on the cover of the January issue of the Limbaugh Letter. Your helmet's missing its fifth star," he wrote. "Certainly after having led the American people to their greatest victory in the last two centuries..." this is the '94 congressional race "... there is no honor high enough for you. EIB salutes, George Demos, New York."

Now, this guy's running for office in New York 1, a literal Rush Baby. And the Republican establishment has turned on him, "he can't win." He's all concerned about Ground Zero and the mosque and so forth. So the state party, Republican state party has sent Christopher Cox, Nixon's grandson, and a guy who was a Green Party pro-choice Republican in New Jersey before they shipped him out to Suffolk County to run against George Demos. So you got a couple pro-choice country club, blue-blood Republicans in the primary because they're in the northeast and it's sad that only those kinds of Republicans can win in the northeast. It's silly only those kinds of Republicans can win in California. A conservative can't win in the northeast. A conservative can't take the Biden seat. A conservative cannot take Boxer's seat. "Rush you're going to have to realize here that these people are not professionals, they've got too much baggage, they're gonna be made mincemeat by the Democrats. We've gotta have people who can win."

Well, okay, fine. What if we all got behind 'em, you think they could win? Didn't they tell us we're never going to get a conservative as governor of New Jersey? That was never going to happen. "Rush, you're never gonna get a guy like Chris Christie, don't even dream about it. You're not gonna get this guy in Virginia, this guy doesn't have a prayer, Rush. You think a Republican's gonna take the Kennedy seat? Come on, Rush, get real here." All these people say it can't be done and if itdoes happen it's mistake, so we've gotta stick with the RINOs, 'cause they allow the Republicans to have a majority. But what good is it?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: And we're back, on the cutting edge of societal evolution. George Demos, by the way, a literal Rush Baby, running for the Republican primary, Republican nomination New York 1, that's eastern Long Island, he wrote a letter. Again, I want to repeat this. He was a subscriber to The Limbaugh Letter in 1995, 18 years old. We put an artist's rendering of me on the cover of my newsletter -- I'm on it every month, folks, it would be an upset if I weren't -- and put me on the cover as a four-star general. He writes a letter, "You need a fifth star for what you've done," a literal Rush Baby. He's a former Securities and Exchange Commission prosecutor. He prosecuted white-collar fraud as a prosecutor, US Securities Exchange Commission between 2002-2009, and John Jay LaValle, the Suffolk County Republican chairman, back in February said that George Demos was a qualified, extraordinary candidate for the Republican Party nomination to be a congressman in the first district from eastern Long Island. But the DC GOP sent a bunch of people in to run against him who are pro-choice, country club, blue-blood Republican types. So this stuff, you know, I'm personally attached to it. People who have been listening to this program have been inspired. ###

Eric Cantor President Obama just doesn't get it

Eric Cantor

Uploaded on December 8, 2009 by republicanconference Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 2.0 GenericW
Cantor Calls on House to Support Common Sense Boehner Proposal.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement in support of John Boehner’s proposal to contain government spending at 2008 levels and prevent taxes from being raised on January 1. Cantor called upon all of his colleagues, Republican and Democrat, to support the simple, common-sense proposal:

"President Obama just doesn't get it - our government simply cannot keep spending money that it doesn't have, and it certainly cannot threaten small business people and job creators with massive tax hikes if the goal is to get people back to work.
Today Leader Boehner challenged the President to support two simple measures that many in the House, Republicans and Democrats, could embrace—cutting government spending and preventing massive tax hikes on all Americans. Job creators, small business owners, and investors don’t know which burdensome tax hike, regulation or mandate will come next, and therefore are reluctant to hire new employees, assume risk and make investments—all crucial components of any economic recovery. Americans need a signal that their government finally gets it – stopping the reckless spending and removing the threat of massive tax hikes is a great way to start.

“The White House continues to blindly throw darts at the board and hope for a bullseye. That is not the kind of economic leadership required to overcome the serious challenges facing our country. There is a better way. For the last 18 months, Republicans have focused on cutting spending and creating jobs by offering better alternatives than the Democrat majority that specifically address the economic uncertainties facing our country. Washington has a spending problem, and the policies of the Obama Administration and the Pelosi/Reid Congress have caused the size and reach of the government to explode. Every member of the House should embrace this simple, common-sense proposal that will signal that the government is finally ready to start getting its fiscal house in order."

Boehner Video Highlights Progress in Iraq, Thanks Our Men & Women in Uniform
Titled “Victory is the Only Option,” Video Highlights Success of the Surge Despite Opposition from Then-Senator Obama & Other Key Democrats;

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today released a new web video highlighting progress in Iraq, and thanking our men and women in uniform for the courage and sacrifice they’ve shown in helping bring about progress there. The video, entitled “Victory is the Only Option,” underscores the success of the surge strategy that was opposed by then-Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid and other Democrats when it was announced by General David Petraeus and President George W. Bush. While the Obama Administration today is seeking to take credit for “ending the combat mission” in Iraq, the video credits our troops and their families, whose hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication have helped transform Iraq from a once volatile threat to a nascent democracy and a key ally of the United States.

TEXT TRANSCRIPT: “VICTORY IS THE ONLY OPTION” (2:26)

NBC NEWS’ RICHARD ENGEL: “Troops here say they are increasingly frustrated by American criticism of the war. Many take it personally, believing it is also criticism of what they’ve been fighting for.”

U.S. SOLDIER: “One thing I don’t like is when people back home say they support the troops but they don’t support the war. If they’re going to support us, support us all the way.”

ABC NEWS WORLD NEWS TONIGHT ANCHOR CHARLIE GIBSON: “One item from Baghdad today. The news is that there is no news. There were no major acts of violence.”

CBS EVENING NEWS ANCHOR KATIE COURIC: “Numbers do indicate that Iraq became much safer during the surge.”

ABC’S TERRY MORAN: “But the surge of U.S. troops, combined with ordinary Iraqis’ rejection of both al-Qaeda and Shiite extremists, has transformed the country.”

Dino Rossi New Stimulus Sounds Like The Old Stimulus VIDEO

Dino Rossi New Stimulus Sounds Like The Old Stimulus VIDEO

We need to stop the failed experiment if we’re going to get our economy back on track and put people back to work’

Bellevue, WA—This week the White House unveiled a new stimulus proposal which would spend $50 billion on the nation’s infrastructure. U.S. Senate candidate Dino Rossi made the following statement Tuesday regarding the administration’s push for more government stimulus spending:

“The folks in DC are again asking us to trust them, this time saying if we just spend $50 billion more, we’ll get the economy back on track. Well, I don’t believe them and neither do people here in Washington State. This new $50 billion won’t work any better than the trillion plus dollars they’ve already spent.

“Washingtonians are tired of politicians who can’t admit they’re wrong, and this latest stimulus proposal is a perfect example. Sen. Murray and her fellow leaders in Washington, D.C., experimented with a stimulus bill which was meant to target ‘shovel-ready’ projects and sold as a job creation measure. Nineteen months and $1.2 trillion later, the only thing we’ve seen from the last stimulus is rising unemployment and a massive debt. We need to stop the failed experiment if we’re going to get our economy back on track and put people back to work. Congress needs to enact proposals which encourage small businesses to grow, not more government spending which creates more debt.”

According to the Associated Press, the administration’s $50 billion stimulus proposal “wouldn’t create jobs right away.”

Jim Renacci calling for an end to the reckless deficit spending and job-killing policies that are destroying Ohio’s economy

If you haven't already, please check out my TV ad that first aired almost two weeks ago - let's get Ohio back to work! about 1 hour ago via web twitter.com/jrenacc

JIM RENACCI LAUNCHES FIRST GENERAL ELECTION TELEVISON AD

Canton, OH—Today, the Jim Renacci for Congress campaign began airing its first television ad for the fall campaign, highlighting Jim Renacci’s record as a job creator and calling for an end to the reckless deficit spending and job-killing policies that are destroying Ohio’s economy. A 27-year resident of northeast Ohio, Jim Renacci built a business from the ground up, creating over 1,500 new jobs and employing over 2,500 Ohioans. As Mayor of Wadsworth, Jim brought his business background to local government and successfully balanced his city’s $80 million budget and converted its deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes.

“While John Boccieri remains in hiding, refusing to discuss the issues that matter to voters—like our double digit unemployment rate or his votes for the cap and trade energy tax, ObamaCare and the Obama-Pelosi stimulus plan, I am proud to campaign on my low-tax, low-spending, pro-growth principles that our state and our country so desperately need,” Jim Renacci said today.

Since John Boccieri was elected to Congress, the unemployment rate in the 16th district has doubled while he cast votes in Washington for trillions of dollars in new taxes and deficit spending. Voting with Nancy Pelosi 94% of the time, John Boccieri has supported every major component of the Obama-Pelosi agenda, including cap & trade, ObamaCare and the economic “stimulus” plan. ###

John Boehner Statement on President Obama's Latest 'Stimulus' Spending Proposal

John Boehner

Uploaded on December 3, 2009 by House GOP Leader © All rights reserved.
Washington (Sep 6) House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement on the latest 'stimulus' spending plan President Obama will outline later today with remarks in Milwaukee, WI:
"As the American people, facing near double-digit unemployment, mark Labor Day by asking, where are the jobs, the White House has chosen to double-down on more of the same failed 'stimulus' spending. Eighteen months ago, the Administration promised that if we passed their trillion-dollar 'stimulus' it would create jobs 'immediately' and keep unemployment below eight percent. Instead, millions of Americans have lost their jobs, and unemployment is approaching 10 percent. If we've learned anything from the past 18 months, it's that we can't spend our way to prosperity. We don't need more government 'stimulus' spending - we need to end Washington Democrats' out-of-control spending spree, stop their tax hikes, and create jobs by eliminating the job-killing uncertainty that is hampering our small businesses."

Obamacare to hire thousands of new IRS agents

Mick Mulvaney with his wife, Pamela

By mickforsenate Copyright All rights reserved by mickforsenate
Thanks to Obamacare the IRS will begin to play a greater role in our personal lives. The new healthcare law enacts a vast increase in government control. Approximately 16,000 additional IRS agents, auditors and other workers will be hired in order to enforce the new health care taxes and penalties. Through YouCut – a program begun by House Republicans to let you decide what spending to cut – it was suggested that Congress should prohibit funding for the hiring of these additional IRS agents. If passed, this would have saved $5-10 billion over the next 10 years. Unfortunately, Mr. Spratt voted against this measure, further solidifying his support for bigger government and higher taxes.
Under Obamacare, the new IRS agents will have the power to verify if you have ‘acceptable’ health insurance, enforce fines, confiscate your tax refunds and increase audits. With the health bill’s increased mandates and provisions, the IRS will now monitor Americans monthly to determine if the health coverage they have is deemed acceptable. Billions of taxpayer dollars will be wasted in enforcing a health care bill that a majority of Americans do not support.

There was a time when Mr. Spratt would have rejected the health care takeover. Instead our Congressman now consistently votes to further the Obama Agenda. If you are fed up with the change you see in Mr. Spratt’s voting record, I hope you will vote to change congressmen on November 2nd.

Washington Liberals and Big Labor Attack the Secret Ballot

Rand PaulPresident Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the Washington liberal establishment are going after workers’ right to a private union ballot.

The proposed Employee Free Choice Act, also called “card check”, is being pushed in Congress.
This bill would prohibit workers from having the freedom to privately cast a ballot for or against unionization in their workplace. It forces workers to sign a card in public, leaving them open to intimidation and coercion. Such legislation is unfair to workers, and would be a disaster for small businesses. This scheme by the liberal crowd in Washington, much like Cap and Trade and Obamacare, would cost Kentucky families dearly in much-needed jobs and job opportunities in the midst of a weak economy.

Rand Paul opposes so-called card check legislation and would help lead the fight to protect workers’ right to a secret ballot.

Carly Fiorina Issues Statement on Increasing Unemployment Rate

U.S. Senate Candidate Carly Fiorina Issues Statement on Increasing Unemployment Rate.

SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement in response to the report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics this morning showing that the unemployment rate ticked up to 9.6 percent in August and that 54,000 Americans lost jobs last month:
“Today’s news that the unemployment rate ticked up last month, as private-sector growth remained anemic, confirms yet again that the parade of big-government policies championed by Barbara Boxer – particularly the $814 billion economic stimulus plan – has failed to deliver the jobs and economic growth she promised California.

“After nearly three decades in Washington, Barbara Boxer has proven she believes government bloat paid for by higher taxes is the same thing as economic growth. The fact is that her continued support for budget-busting, big-government policies is killing jobs and stifling economic growth. With more than 2.2 million Californians out of work, we need leaders in Washington who understand how jobs are created – not those who talk a lot but produce few results.

“As California’s senator, I will make real job creation my first priority, and that starts with a focus on our nation’s true economic engines: the small businesses and entrepreneurs that employ half the nation’s private-sector workers and create two-thirds of our nation’s new jobs.”

Rick Scott statement on Alex Sink’s assertion that jobs are not a Florida issue

Rick ScottFort Lauderdale, FL – The Rick Scott For Florida campaign released a statement on Alex Sink’s assertion that jobs are not a Florida issue.
Scott campaign spokesman Jennifer Baker said “Alex Sink likes to tell reporters that by focusing on the policies she supports that Rick Scott should be running for ‘Senate or President.’ News flash Alex Sink – 1,086,000 Floridians are out of work, unemployment is 11.7 percent in Florida, 46 percent of homeowners are underwater on mortgages – jobs are the number 1 issue in this race. This campaign is and will be all about your support for the Obamacrat agenda that has given us higher taxes, more debt, and continual job losses underlined by the additional 54,000 jobs that were lost today. Rick Scott is the only candidate with a proven track record of creating jobs and has a specific plan to create 700,000 jobs in Florida.”

Background

“Sink says Scott should run for US Senate or President since all he does is talk about federal issues and Obama” Fineout Tweet: http://twitter.com/fineout/status/22803119318

“Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May 2010 is 11.7 percent. This represents 1,086,000 jobless out of a labor force of 9,272,000.” (Press Release: “Florida’s May Unemployment Figures Released,” 6/18/10)

46 Percent Of Florida Homeowners Were Underwater On Their Mortgages At The End Of June “Among those, Nevada had the highest rate at the end of June, with 68 percent of its residential mortgages underwater. In Arizona, half of the home mortgages were underwater. In Florida, it was 46 percent.” (Veiga, Alex, “Number of underwater mortgages in US fell in 2Q,” Associated Press, 8/26/10)

“Meanwhile, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink supports the law and has raised concerns about McCollum’s challenge of the measure.” (Dunkelberger, Lloyd “Health Law Stays On Radar” Sarasota Herald Tribune, 07/05/10)

“Sink chastises legislators for being critical of the federal stimulus program and then accepting $5 billion of it to pass last year’s $66 billion budget. ‘What would they have done without the $5 billion? Talk about jobs, tens of thousands of jobs would have been lost,’ she said. ‘It’s our taxpayer dollar. It’s meant to stimulate our economy or to save jobs.’” (Klas, Mary Ellen & Bousquet, Steve, “RUNNING TO LEAD BY NOT LEADING,” St. Petersburg Times, 3/7/10)

“‘This money is an investment in job creation and economic growth,’ said CFO Sink… I’m hopeful that the remainder of the $200 million will arrive soon” (Press Release: “CFO Sink Statement Regarding Florida Back to Work Program” States News Service, 03/10/10)

“The administration has put in place a lot of stimulus programs, and in fact Florida’s benefited from billions and billions of dollars of stimulus money that has helped protect jobs in the state of Florida” (Smith, Adam, “Alex Sink on Obama, Bill McCollum’s health care maneuvers,” The Buzz: Florida Politics St. Petersburg Times, 01/20/10)

“Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink is calling on Washington to release up to $200 million in federal stimulus funding that Florida has been counting on to create thousands of short-term jobs… Under the Back to Work program, stimulus funds would pay for up to 95 percent of salary and training costs for new hires if employers agree to keep those jobs until at least September.” (“SINK ASKS FOR PROMISED CASH TO CREATE JOBS,” St. Petersburg Times, 3/10/10)

Statement On The Passing Of Marco Rubio’s father

Miami, FL – Surrounded by family and loved ones, Marco Rubio’s father, Mario Rubio, passed away tonight at Baptist Hospital in Miami. He was 83 years old. Mario Rubio suffered from a long bout with emphysema and lung cancer.

In his final moments, Mario was accompanied by his loving wife of 61 years, Oria, his children Mario, Barbara, Marco and Veronica, and his extended family.

On the passing of his father, Marco Rubio issued the following statement:

“My father knew hard work and struggle from very early in his life. His mother died when he was only 9 years old. The day after his mother was buried he went to work with his father and did not stop working until he was 78 years old.

“He was by far the most unselfish person I have ever known, always focused on others, and never on his own well being. He was especially determined to provide his children opportunities he himself never had.

“My dad worked as a street vendor, security guard, apartment building manager and crossing guard. But for most of his life he was a bartender, and by all accounts a great one. But his greatest success came from the two most important jobs he ever had: husband and father.

“He was very proud of my public service. And over the last 18 months he became an expert channel surfer, constantly searching for my next television interview.

“I was blessed to be raised by a world class father. And I thank God for allowing my father to live long and healthy enough to see that the sacrifices he made for us were not in vain.”

For the entire Rubio family, as well as our campaign, politics will now be placed on temporary hold. We will resume our full schedule some time in the coming days. During this time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Marco and his family so they may mourn their loss in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the Rubio family requests honoring Mario Rubio’s memory by supporting the League Against Cancer/Liga Contra El Cancer ligacontraelcancer.org/.

Bill Flores Unemployment Rate is Totally Unacceptable

Bill FloresSTATEMENT: Flores: Unemployment Rate is Totally Unacceptable

Amid Massive Spending and the Failed Stimulus, Unemployment is Rising.
BRYAN, TX – Bill Flores, the Republican nominee for Congress in Texas’ 17th District, released the following statement today amid the jobs report showing that the national unemployment rate has increased to 9.6 percent:

“Today we received yet another discouraging sign about our economy, as the national unemployment rate increased to 9.6 percent in August. While Democrats have promised a “Recovery Summer,” the truth is that 283,000 jobs were lost during the summer. It is clear to all Americans that the job killing agenda of Obama and Pelosi, which Congressman Chet Edwards has supported, is damaging our economy and hurting middle class families.

“The so-called stimulus bill, which cost $814 billion, has failed to keep unemployment below 8 percent as the White House promised it would. Since the bill passed, unemployment has increased in all 12 counties in this District, and across the country we have lost over 2.5 million jobs.

“If I am elected to Congress, we will defund (and eventually repeal) Obamacare, kill Cap and Trade, cut spending, extend current tax rates (by preventing the largest tax increase in history) and begin to grow our economy and spur private sector job creation.” # # #

Sharron Angle places the blame for Nevada's devastated economy directly at the feet of Harry Reid VIDEO

The Sharron Angle for Senate campaign released a new television ad entitled, “Faces.” In the ad, Sharron Angle places the blame for Nevada's devastated economy directly at the feet of Harry Reid. The ad details just how destructive Reid's policies as Majority Leader have been to Nevada with the highest unemployment in the nation, the highest foreclosure rate in the nation, and home values that have been cut in half.

"With this latest ad, Sharron puts faces on the tragic statistics which have resulted from Harry Reid's policies as Majority Leader," said Jerry Stacy, Press Secretary for Sharron Angle. "Senator Reid wants to spend this campaign talking about Sharron, but this election is about the economy and the Nevadans that are struggling because of Harry Reid. These are not just numbers, these are people that Harry Reid has hurt while he's made deals to help other states."

Congressman Geoff Davis Weekly Republican Address TEXT PODCAST VIDEO 09/04/10

Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT BELOW. Video of the address will be available here once the embargo is lifted. 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, September 04, 2010 || MP4 File || MPEG File ||

Washington (Sep 3) In the Weekly Republican Address, Rep. Geoff Davis (R-KY) discusses one of Republicans’ better solutions to help small businesses create jobs after the latest unemployment report revealed that the Obama Administration’s “Recovery Summer” failed to materialize as promised. To rein in the barrage of mandates and regulations being handed down by Washington, Rep. Davis has proposed common-sense legislation requiring that Congress take an up-or-down vote on every new major rule before it can be enforced on the American people. This would improve the way Washington does business and restore checks and balances in our government. This idea is part of the national dialogue being fostered by the America Speaking Out project, which engages the American people in the creation of a new governing agenda for Congress. Now in his third term in Congress, Rep. Davis is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Congressman Geoff Davis

“Hi, I’m Geoff Davis, and I work for the people of Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District.

“Yesterday, Americans from coast to coast began their day with the news that our economy has lost jobs for three months in a row. The nation’s unemployment rate has now been above nine percent for 16 consecutive months. This is despite the fact that the Obama Administration promised that the trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ would keep unemployment below eight percent. So the question remains: where are the jobs?

“The Obama Administration told the American people this would be a ‘Recovery Summer.’ But, our economy continues to lose jobs. Growth has slowed to anemic levels. Our national debt is growing by more than four billion dollars per day. So as it turns out, ‘Recovery Summer’ was nothing more than a meaningless slogan.

“Americans don’t want slogans, they want solutions, which is exactly what Republicans are offering.

“‘Stimulus’ spending, permanent bailouts, government takeovers, and federal mandates have all failed our nation. America’s employers are afraid to invest in an economy racked with uncertainty over what Washington’s next set of rules, regulations, mandates, and tax hikes will look like. This uncertainty is one of the main reasons our economy is not creating enough jobs.

“Republicans believe we need to get away from these policies and instead take action on common-sense steps to help small businesses get back to creating jobs. We’ve called on President Obama to abandon his plan to impose job-killing tax hikes on families and small businesses. We’ve urged Democratic Leaders in Congress to allow a vote on $1.3 trillion in immediate spending cuts. And we’re listening to the people, getting their input on ways to help our economy start creating jobs again. Today, I’d like to talk with you about one of those ideas.

“As we speak, the Obama Administration has lined up 191 rules and regulations that could each have an estimated annual cost to our economy of $100 million or more. That’s 191 layers of red tape waiting in the wings. Last year, the federal government issued 3,316 new rules and regulations – that amounts to more than a dozen per day. All of these rules go on the books without being approved by Congress.

“Many of these mandates affect small business owners who don’t have the resources to hire an army of lawyers and accountants to comply with all these burdensome regulations. The more time small business owners spend pushing paper, the less time they have to focus on creating jobs.

“The new health care bill is a perfect example of how unelected bureaucrats can wreak all kinds of havoc. This is a law that, upon its enactment, triggered the creation of roughly 160 boards, bureaus, bureaucracies, and commissions. It took less than four months for the feds to rack up 3,833 pages of regulations pertaining to ObamaCare.

“When Congress forces through controversial legislation by purposefully leaving blanks for executive agencies to fill in, unelected bureaucrats end up writing laws with no accountability whatsoever. This has to stop.

“Last year, a local resident came to me about a significant increase in sewer rates to help pay for storm water upgrades mandated by the federal government. Of course, Washington wasn’t offering to help pay for the upgrades – only issuing the orders to get them done. My constituent wanted to know whether Congress had any say in these new federal mandates before they were handed down. The answer was ‘no.’

“So with my constituent’s help, I introduced the REINS Act, a common-sense initiative that would require Congress to take an up-or-down vote on every new major rule before it can be imposed on the American people. This legislation would serve as a much-needed restraining order against unelected busybodies and bureaucrats whose actions could make it harder to create jobs.

“The sooner we rein in the red tape factory in Washington, DC, the sooner small businesses can get back to creating jobs and helping more Americans find an honest day’s work.

“I’ve also posted the REINS Act as an idea on America Speaking Out, a national initiative Republicans launched this spring to engage the American people in the creation of a clear and positive governing agenda. At AmericaSpeakingOut.com, Americans can share their own solutions or comment and vote on someone else’s.

“So what began as a conversation between a constituent and his congressional representative is now part of a national dialogue about a new governing agenda – an agenda Republicans will unveil later this month. These are just the first steps towards putting power back where it belongs: in the hands of the people.

“Visit AmericaSpeakingOut.com now to have your say and to share your ideas.

“Thank you for listening.”

Scott Walker Make It Right VIDEO

Scott Walker Knows How to Get the Job Done.

Voters in this year’s campaign for Governor are offered a clear choice – those candidates who talk about saving tax dollars and one who has a demonstrated track record of reducing the size and expense of government.

When Scott Walker campaigned for Milwaukee County Executive, he pledged to spend the taxpayers’ money as if it was his own. He’s kept that promise. But it hasn’t been easy.

Eight years ago, Milwaukee County was on the brink of financial and organizational meltdown, thanks to greedy politicians who schemed to allow themselves and their cronies to retire as millionaires at the taxpayers’ expense.

Angered by the actions of their county leaders Milwaukee County residents called for new leadership and a top down reform of government.

My good friend Scott Walker answered the call and has delivered on what he promised.

As a member of the Milwaukee County Board, I’ve seen him Scott Walker take on the big spenders first hand. I’ve watched him fight for the taxpayers and win time after time. And thanks to Scott, we’ve cut the county debt by 10 percent, reduced the workforce by one-fifth and introduced eight budgets without a property tax levy increase from the previous year – last year, we even had an $8.9 million surplus!

Significantly, Scott Walker’s commitment to reducing the size of government is best demonstrated by his personal commitment and self-sacrifice. Not only did he reduce the extravagant pension benefits of county employees, he gave back $370,000 of his own salary to the taxpayers because he thought the job paid too much.

With a record like that, it’s laughable that Scott’s opponents are trying to portray him as anything other than a protector of the taxpayers’ dollars who has not only proposed tight budgets, but also used his veto authority over 100 times to keep taxes and spending low.

And Scott never stops challenging the status quo because he knows it’s his job to find ways to run county government more efficiently, especially at a time when so many families and business are struggling to make ends meet. He calls his approach to finding ways to do more with less his “Brown Bag Guide to Government” – I call just call it common sense!

For example, the county budget Scott introduced last Fall included a proposal to hire private contractors to perform services like cleaning the courthouse, saving $3.2 million for the taxpayers. He even included a provision to give county workers first crack at interviewing with the private contractor the county hired.

Scott has changed the culture of Milwaukee County government. Before he took office, few questioned the board’s runaway spending increases. It's really frustrated the big spenders on the county board that he’s stuck to his guns and delivered on his promises

Scott’s track record of success is exactly the kind of discipline we need to cut state government spending and to fill our $2.7 billion deficit without raising taxes on families and employers.

Now, Wisconsin needs Scott Walker’s leadership to help put government back on track and back on our side.

If you want lower taxes and less government spending, Scott Walker knows how to get the job done.

Republican Governors Association A New Jersey VIDEO

10 Weeks - 'A New Jersey' Teaser 2 from Republican Governors Association.

We "Remember November" so that we can prevent the fiscal disaster waiting for our children and grandchildren. No longer will we allow politicians concerned with their political career to choose debt and irresponsibility over making the difficult choices. Soon America will be unable to dig itself from the burden of growing debt.

America was never intended to be a country recklessly ruled by a partisan national government that ignored the will of the states. Partisan leaders have rammed through massive, job-killing legislation without working across party lines on common sense reforms. They are standing with big labor, trial lawyers and liberal activist groups against the American people.

Sweetheart deals, vote buying, and lavish taxpayer-funded lifestyles. These are all too common among our current Washington politicians. We will "Remember November" because our Founding Fathers fought so that we would inherit an honest government of the people.

Joe Miller Reacts to Primary Victory Official Statement TEXT VIDEO

Joe Miller Reacts to Primary Victory Official Statement FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT

Fairbanks, Alaska. August 31, 2010 -- Earlier this evening, I received a call from Senator Murkowski honorably conceding the race. I want to thank her for a hard fought contest.

Tomorrow, the general election begins.

But tonight I'd like to reflect back on the amazing feat we accomplished together. We started from a handful of people knowing who we were and what we stood for to now being the Republican Party nominee.

I want to thank the many people that made it all possible. First the people of the Great State of Alaska. As I traveled throughout the state, I met and spoke with more and more people who shared the same concern that our nation has reached a critical point, and we needed to change course.

I would like to especially thank my wife and children who have sacrificed quite a bit during this primary campaign. I love you all, and you are the most important reason I decided to enter this race.

I need to thank others who provided vital support to this campaign including Governor Sarah Palin, Governor Mike Huckabee, and the Tea Party movement. I'd also like to thank current and former state officials including Lt. Governor Loren Leman, Senators Fred Dyson and John Coghill, and Representatives Wes Keller and Tammy Wilson. Additionally, I'd also like to thank national conservative leaders and our local voices here in Alaska, Dan Fagan, Glenn Biegel, and Michael Dukes. But without our incredible volunteer network, this victory could not have been possible. They worked day and night to ensure success in this race. Thank you!

Now is the time for all Alaskans to come together and reach out with our core message of taking power from the federal government and bringing it back home to the people. If we continue to allow the federal government to live beyond its means, we will all soon have to live below ours.

I look forward to the challenge of the general election ahead. I intend to continue to travel to every corner of Alaska talking to folks about the answers needed to get our nation back on track and keep the American dream alive for ourselves and our children.

Thank you once again to the great people of this wonderful state. I look forward to the campaign ahead. God bless you and God bless Alaska!
