John Dennis Challenges Nancy Pelosi To A Televised Debate On Issues That Matter To Voters In The 8th District Of California

Congressional Candidate John Dennis personally delivers formal debate invitation To Pelosi's San Francisco Federal District Office.

San Francisco, CA -- Congressional candidate John Dennis personally delivered a formal invitation to debate to the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, located in the new downtown Federal Building (California 8th Congressional District, San Francisco, CA).
The written debate invitation, which included a request for response from the Congresswoman by Wednesday, September 22nd, was accepted by a staff member and delivered to Pelosi's District Director.

"The voters need to compare and contrast our positions on the critical issues facing the district and the nation," John Dennis said. "They need to know why she has turned her back on our district and reversed her position on many key issues. Ms. Pelosi has never explained these reversals, ranging from her support of the Patriot Act to voting to continue the Afghanistan war to supporting bank bailouts. Voters deserve to see how we compare on issues that affect every citizen in our district. This can only happen in a formal debate aired throughout San Francisco."

The John Dennis campaign will be posting a "Debate Watch" clock at the Campaign website. It will track the time it takes for Congresswoman Pelosi to respond to John Dennis' invitation. The Campaign will also post an online petition for visitors to sign which will urge Pelosi to accept John Dennis' invitation.

“Families, homeowners and small business owners are struggling under mounds of debt and taxes,” added Dennis. “The wars wage on, the federal government continues to recklessly spend and the economy is not getting better. Under Pelosi’s leadership, Washington has created failed policies and excuses that need to be debated in a fair and honest forum.”

The John Dennis for Congress campaign offered to cover the logistic expenses of a televised debate, in order to save taxpayer dollars.

Loretta Sanchez Racist words against the Vietnamese people VIDEO

California Democratic Congresswomen Loretta Sanchez’s racially-charged statement was made during an interview with Univision and aimed at her opponent, Van Tran, the Republican state assemblyman whose family had to flee Vietnam after the fall of Saigon.

“The Vietnamese and the Republicans are, with an intensity, trying to take away this seat — this seat that we have done so much for our community – take away this seat from us and give it to this Van Tran, who is very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic,” she said according to a translation on YouTube.

Tran’s campaign strongly condemned the comments.

“At a time when our state faces an unemployment rate above 12 percent, Loretta Sanchez resorts to insensitive racist attacks against her own constituents,” said Tran campaign spokesman George Andrews. “Her attack against immigrants and the Vietnamese community on national television is shocking. The 47th Congressional District belongs to the people and not an individual ethnicity.”

Sanchez’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Congressman Kevin McCarthy Weekly Republican Address TEXT VIDEO 09/25/10

Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT BELOW. Video of the address will be available here once the embargo is lifted. 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, September 25, 2010 || MP4 File || MPEG File ||

Washington (Sep 24) In the Weekly Republican Address, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) discusses “A Pledge to America,” a new governing agenda built by listening to the American people and focused on addressing their top priorities – including creating jobs, cutting spending, and changing the way Congress works. Rep. McCarthy talks about how this agenda could be implemented today if President Obama and Democratic Leaders would allow it. Now in his second term, Rep. McCarthy serves as chairman of the America Speaking Out project that culminated in Thursday’s release of “A Pledge to America.”
Congressman Kevin McCarthy“Hi, I’m Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California.

“This week Republicans made a Pledge to America.
“Our new governing agenda answers the question so many Americans are asking: will we leave to our children a stronger, healthier, more prosperous country than our parents left us? As we stand here before you, the future of our country hangs in the balance. Across this great nation, mothers and fathers wonder if their children will find the same opportunities for success that existed just a generation ago.

“Can you blame them? As a result of the economically disastrous policies of the current administration, millions of Americans are out of work today, and our children will be saddled with a deficit and debt that is -- by every definition -- out of control.

“We have more people depending on food stamps to feed their families than at any point in history. The economy is so dire that one in six Americans has to rely on government assistance for financial support. One in six. The land of opportunity has become the land of shrinking prosperity.

“Americans across the country are outraged, and so are we. Just as John Hancock boldly signed his name to the Declaration of Independence so that even Britain’s King George could read it, I want to say this slowly so there is no room for misinterpretation…

“Our government has failed us.

“From the billion-dollar bailouts to the ‘stimulus’ package that failed to stimulate to the government takeover of health care, you cried “STOP!”…but the Democratic Majority in Washington has refused to listen.

“I am speaking to you on behalf of Republicans to tell you that we’ve been listening, and we’ve heard you. We heard you loud and clear, and we assure you that there is nothing more inspiring than the common voice of the common man.

“When you said you wanted a prosperous, competitive economy, we heard you.

“When you said you wanted a more accountable government, we heard you.

“When you said you didn’t want a government takeover of health care, we heard you.

“We know that you want a government dedicated to working for the people, and that’s why we’ve written this Pledge to America. This pledge isn’t about Republicans or Democrats, liberals or conservatives – it’s about you.

“This pledge focuses largely on three things:

* a plan to create jobs, end economic uncertainty, and make America more competitive;
* a plan to cut wasteful Washington spending and reduce the size of government;
* a plan to reform Congress and restore trust in government.

“The new agenda embodies Americans’ rejection of the notion that we can simply tax, borrow and spend our way to prosperity. It offers a new way forward that hasn’t been tried in Washington – an approach focused on cutting spending – which is sadly a new idea for a Congress accustomed to always accelerating it.

“To put Americans back to work, our agenda seeks to eliminate uncertainty for the private-sector innovators and entrepreneurs who create jobs.

“And it commits to immediate action to change the way Congress works, recognizing that the current structure is rigged to minimize public scrutiny and facilitate unnecessary spending.

“This pledge is a governing agenda that could be implemented right now if the powers-that-be in Washington would allow it. We are calling on Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid to implement these proposals before Congress adjourns for the fall.

“We go forward now with optimism and a firm belief that we live in a land of great promise and great possibilities… a land where – until recently, our tomorrows have held more promise than our yesterdays.

“We are not ready to concede the fight for the prosperity of our country. We refuse to believe that the same American dream that shone so brightly for our parents has dimmed for our children. We must reverse our current course of action and reject the job-killing policies of the Democratic Majority. We will take back our country and restore our right to a better future.

“This is our pledge to America.”

Liberal Alex Sink Higher Taxes Morning, noon and night.

Background:

The Governor's Commission on Education, which includes some of Florida's most prominent business people, recommended Thursday that the state expand a utilities tax used for school construction. The 2.5 percent tax, now charged on the gross receipts of electricity, natural and manufactured gas and telecommunication services also would be applied to water, sewer, cable and solid waste utilities. Among the [Commission] members are Richard Nunis, chairman of Walt Disney Attractions; Stewart Turley, chairman of Eckerd Corp.; Alvin R. Carpenter, president of CSX Transportation; and Alex Sink, president of Florida Banking Group for NationsBank. Sink pushed the group to take a stronger stand Thursday, saying their recommendation should be to impose the utilities tax all at once. ˜We ought to say we have a crisis, and this is what we really think should happen, she said. ˜If the politics go the other way, so be it. But Sink's recommendation failed on an 18-12 vote. (Diane Rado, Commission: Expand Tax To Build More Schools, St. Petersburg Times, 2/28/97)

Raising the state sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent would generate about $10 billion over three years. Democrats and school officials said today's rally would leave major imprint. This is an amazing turnout and your voices will make a difference today, said Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, a Democrat. Keep those phone calls coming. Keep those e-mails coming. (Josh Hafenbrack, Hopping-Mad Parents Chant, ˜No More Cuts, Sun-Sentinel, 3/18/09)

According To A Candidate Survey By The St. Petersburg Times, Sink Says She Supports ˜Obama's Health Care Plan." (Cristina Silva, â€Å“Where They Stand, St. Petersburg Times, 8/22/10)

The top Democrat in Florida government urged voters Tuesday to oppose the property tax amendment on next week's ballot, saying the tax savings are not worth the cuts to public services. But don't expect to see Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink's face splashed across billboards or television ads criticizing Amendment 1. Sink voiced her opposition only when a reporter asked her opinion Tuesday. (Cristina Silva and Steve Bousquet, Tax Vote Foes Speak Softly, St. Petersburg Times, 1/23/08) ###

Chris Coons ducks Middletown, Delaware candidate forum with Christine O’Donnell

Sean Hannity Interviews Christine O'DonnellChris Coons ducks Middletown, Delaware candidate forum with Christine O’Donnell, Will Harry Reid’s “Pet” Defend Obama’s Policies or Run From Them?
Wilmington, DE – On Monday in Middletown, Delaware Chris Coons, Democrat candidate running for Senate, decided to skip a candidate forum with Republican nominee Christine O’Donnell with Tea Party activists. Another opportunity to face the Tea Party supporters and other patriotic Americans is coming up, however. Christine O’Donnell criticized her opponent’s failure to show to the Monday forum and challenged him to join her at the 9/12 Patriots debate.

“Chris Coons blatantly disregarded Delawareans by not participating in what was supposed to be a candidate forum to inform concerned citizens on our respective ideas for our great state. Will Mr. Coons defend the Obama/Reid agenda, including Obamacare, government-bloating stimulus bills, and the bailout bonanza?” said Christine O’Donnell.

At a recent event Coons stated, “I’m someone who broadly supports the agenda of our President. We disagree on a few things like drilling, but in general, I think that we need more folks in the Senate who are willing to vote…willing to work in a responsible partnership with an administration, I think, made the right choice on healthcare, stimulus, and the jobs bill.”

“I look forward to debating Mr. Coons on the serious issues facing the voters of Delaware. We are reviewing the schedule and will commit to as many debates as we can schedule between now and the election,” stated Ms. O’Donnell.

“I challenge Mr. Coons to join me for a lively debate at the 9/12 Patriots Debate tentatively scheduled for Oct. 24th. I hope he does not duck it like he did the Tea Party forum on Monday. All Delaware audiences deserve to hear his views on the issues, not just the ones he hand-picks.”

John Raese, Joe Manchin Lies About His Position on Obamacare Say It Ain't So Joe VIDEO

The NRSC is highlighting West Virginia governor Joe Manchin’s recent claim to West Virginia Gazette reporter Alison Knezevich that he wouldn’t have voted for Obamacare:

“I wouldn’t have voted for the final version of that thing with the way that it came out.”

The NRSC points out a YouTube clip of Manchin saying he was “totally behind health care reform.” But that was from September 2009. Manchin, now the Democratic candidate for Robert Byrd’s vacant Senate seat, could have easily changed his mind between then and the vote on the “final verion” of “that thing” in March 2010.

But he didn’t:
During a March 15, 2010 panel on health care at the National Governors Association in Washington, Manchin said that he would vote for the health care bill if he were a congressman. The panel’s moderator, journalist Karen Tumulty, asked Manchin and other governors on the panel, “If you were a House member … and you’ve got your choice: vote up on the Senate bill or vote down on the Senate bill, how do you vote?”

“I’d be for it,” Manchin replied. “You have to move this ball forward. … I have never, since I’ve been in the legislative process, and since I have been governor, I have never got a perfect bill.”

FreedomWorks PAC Endorses Joe Miller, Conservative Candidate in Alaska’s Senate Race

Regina Joe Miller Yard Sign Camper

Image by JoeWMiller Copyright All rights reserved
FreedomWorks PAC is pleased to announce its addition of conservative Joe Miller, Republican candidate in the Alaska senatorial election, to the Take America Back in 2010 campaign leading up to November. Miller earned the “Champion of Freedom” endorsement for his strong commitment to an agenda of limited-government and fiscal responsibility.
As an experienced Alaska State Magistrate, Superior Court Master and State District Court Judge, Miller witnessed firsthand the stagnant and ineffective nature of government when it overreaches the boundaries set by the Constitution.

Miller is also a signer of the Contract FROM America, an authentic grassroots document created by the people, for the people, expressing what a majority of Americans want for their future. After garnering nearly half a million votes in less than two months, the Contract was whittled down to ten core ideas which advocate fundamental tax reform, fiscal responsibility and limited government.

Joe Miller opposes all encroachments on individual freedom, including Obamacare, job-killing cap and trade energy regulation, and all unnecessary tax hikes.

FreedomWorks PAC plans to support the Miller campaign with numerous Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts, including direct mailings, yard sign distribution, volunteer phone banks and neighborhood literature drops leading up to election day.

“Joe Miller is the clear choice for true conservatives in this election,” observed FreedomWorks PAC Chairman Dick Armey. “He has enough common sense to recognize that a nation cannot tax its way to growth, or spend its way to prosperity. We need to support candidates like Joe who will hold the line on spending and make job creation and fixing the economy the top priority.”

For more information about this race and others that FreedomWorks PAC will be targeting in 2010 as part of the Take America Back campaign, please visit the PAC website, FreedomWorksPAC.org/

H.R.240 Individual AMT Repeal Act FULL TEXT

H.R.240 -- Individual AMT Repeal Act FULL TEXT

Rep. Garrett Seeks Cosponsors to Abolish the Alternative Minimum Tax

Washington, Sep 22 - Unless Congress acts before the end of the year, the number of people who will have to pay the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) will skyrocket from about 4.5 million taxpayers in 2009, to an estimated 27 million taxpayers in 2010. While Congress has traditionally stepped in to pass an AMT "patch" that prevents the number of AMT filers from skyrocketing, no action has been taken yet this year. Even with the patch, the AMT remains "America's most hated, ineffective, insidious tax." The best way to deal with the AMT is to end it once and for all, which is what H.R. 240, the Individual AMT Repeal Act would do. ###

Carly Fiorina Launches Statewide General Election Advertising Campaign VIDEO

SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today launched her first television advertisement of the general election, “Sir.” The 30-second ad marks the start of a series of statewide advertisements Fiorina will air during the general election campaign.

“It has only taken 30 years, but California voters have finally been afforded the complete and accurate picture of Barbara Boxer. In her own words, she demonstrates the arrogance that is the hallmark of a career that has gone on for far too long and will mercifully end on November 2. She’s invested much in furthering her career and liberal ideology but has delivered little for the people of California,” said Carly for California Campaign Manager Marty Wilson. “Boxer’s treatment of General Walsh is seared into the minds of Californians, and this is the beginning of our campaign’s fact-based approach to exposing the lowlights of Barbara Boxer’s career dedicated to raising taxes, increasing the size of government and promoting policies that strangle the private sector’s ability to create jobs. Carly provides the perfect contrast through her background in business and commitment to addressing our country’s challenges with bipartisan, common-sense solutions.”

“Sir” features the infamous exchange between Barbara Boxer and Brigadier General Michael Walsh in which she demands he call her “senator” rather than “ma’am.” “Sir” underscores the arrogance that has become the hallmark of Barbara Boxer’s nearly three decades in Washington and contrasts that to Carly Fiorina’s commitment as a political outsider to focus on bringing people together to get the nation’s economy back on track and restore accountability in our government.

TEXT TRANSCRIPT and Facts About “Sir”

BARBARA BOXER: “You know, do me a favor. Could you say ‘senator’ instead of ‘ma’am?’ It’s just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I’d appreciate it, yes, thank you.” (Committee On Environment And Public Works, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 6/16/09)

* “During A Committee Hearing In June [2009], Boxer Upbraided A Brigadier General For Calling Her ‘Ma’am’ Rather Than ‘Senator.’” (Lisa Lerer and Manu Raju, “Dems Raise Concerns About Boxer,” Politico, 7/23/09)

CARLY FIORINA: “Twenty eight years in Washington, and Barbara Boxer works hard for a title? I’ll really go to work to end the arrogance in Washington.”

A PLEDGE TO AMERICA, America is more than a country.

A Pledge to America download PDF
A Pledge to America download PDF
America is an idea – an idea that free people can govern themselves, that government’s powers are derived from the consent of the governed, that each of us is endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. America is the belief that any man or woman can – given economic, political, and religious liberty – advance themselves, their families, and the common good. America is an inspiration to those who yearn to be free and have the ability and the dignity to determine their own destiny. Whenever the agenda of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to institute a new governing agenda and set a different course.

These first principles were proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence, enshrined in the Constitution, and have endured through hard sacrifice and commitment by generations of Americans.
In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent. An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down long-standing laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people. An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many. Rising joblessness, crushing debt, and a polarizing political environment are fraying the bonds among our people and blurring our sense of national purpose.

Like free peoples of the past, our citizens refuse to accommodate a government that believes it can replace the will of the people with its own. The American people are speaking out, demanding that we realign our country’s compass with its founding principles and apply those principles to solve our common problems for the common
good.

The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated.

With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America. We pledge to honor the Constitution as constructed by its framers and honor the original intent of those precepts that have been consistently ignored – particularly the Tenth Amendment, which grants that all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people. We pledge to advance policies that promote greater liberty, wider opportunity, a robust defense, and national economic prosperity.

We pledge to honor families, traditional marriage, life, and the private and faith-based organizations that form the core of our American values.

We pledge to make government more transparent in its actions, careful in its stewardship, and honest in its dealings. We pledge to uphold the purpose and promise of a better America, knowing that to whom much is given, much is expected and that the blessings of our liberty buoy the hopes of mankind. We make this pledge bearing true faith and allegiance to the people we represent, and we invite fellow citizens and patriots to join us in forming a new governing agenda for America. American Crossroads, Where will Lee Fisher take our economy? Just look behind you VIDEO

Text Transcript:

Narrator: "Where will Lee Fisher take our economy? Just look behind you. Fisher served as Gov. Strickland's top official on job creation, yet Ohio has lost almost 400,000 jobs. And Fisher wanted a $1.1 billion tax increase, which could have driven countless jobs out of state. Fisher even supported Obama's stimulus that failed to create jobs. Ohio can't afford to keep looking back. American Crossroads is responsible for the content of this advertising."

WASHINGTON – American Crossroads, the new conservative 527 campaign organization, today launched a new TV ad in the Ohio Senate race between Republican Rob Portman and liberal Democrat Lee Fisher.

As the key battleground state in the last three presidential elections, Ohio’s senate race has become one of the most watched and anticipated in the 2010 midterm elections. Despite the “stimulus” legislation passed in early 2009, the state has lost more than 400,000 jobs, making jobs and the economy the key issue in the race to succeed retiring Sen. George Voinivich.

“Ohio voters face a crossroads in the 2010 elections, between Rob Portman’s path of job creation, low taxes and restrained government spending, and liberal Lee Fisher’s path of big-government bailouts and deficits,” said American Crossroads communications director Jonathan Collegio. “With 400,000 plus jobs lost in the last two years, Ohioans know well where the Obama-Fisher policies lead: unemployment, out of control spending and record debt.”

American Crossroads is a non-profit 527 political organization dedicated to renewing America’s commitment to individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise and a strong national defense through informed and effective political action. American Crossroads seeks to educate voters and empower citizens to hold lawmakers and office-seekers accountable for where they stand. Paid for by American Crossroads. Joe DioGuardi Points to Gillibrand's Failed Policies as NY Unemployment Rises

DioGuardi Points to Gillibrand's Failed Policies as NY Unemployment Rises.

NEW YORK - Joe DioGuardi, Conservative and Republican Party nominee for the U.S. Senate, today pointed to Gillibrand's failed economic policies, as the U.S. Department of Labor reported that New York's unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent.

"When Gillibrand voted for the 'stimulus' package, she stood alongside her friends in Washington, saying that this massive piece of government spending would cap unemployment at 8 percent," said DioGuardi.
"Nearly two years later, the unemployment rate is still rising and has certainly exceeded the 8 percent mark in New York. Nonetheless, Gillibrand wants voters to believe she can help put the Empire State back to work."

The U.S. Department of Labor found that New York's unemployment rose to 8.3 percent in August 2010. Additionally, the Department announced that more than 5,000 additional New Yorkers began to claim unemployment in August as well, bringing the number to over 800,000.

"One of the most significant problems facing our economy is the fact that people like Gillibrand are hiding the true debt from the American people," continued DioGuardi. "Gillibrand wants you to believe that she supports transparency in Washington, but in reality she is one of the most active participants in the deficit spending and debt-hiding scheme of the Obama administration."

Paladino Trails Cuomo By 6 Points In New York Gov Race, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Small Tea Party Movement Backs Republican 4-1

Republican Carl Paladino, aided by a 4 -1 margin among Tea Partiers, trails New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic candidate for Governor, 49 - 43 percent among likely voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Only 18 percent of New York State likely voters consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement, but they back Paladino 77 - 18 percent.

Cuomo leads 87 - 8 percent among Democrats while Paladino leads 83 - 13 percent among Republicans and 49 - 43 percent among independent voters, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University survey, conducted by live interviewers, finds. This first likely voter general election survey in New York in this election cycle can not be compared with earlier surveys of registered voters.

Women back Cuomo 54 - 34 percent, while men go 49 percent for Paladino and 46 percent for Cuomo.

Seven percent of voters remain undecided and 21 percent of those who name a candidate say they might still change their mind.

New York State likely voters approve 67 - 25 percent of the job Cuomo is doing as Attorney General and by 51 - 34 percent, they have a favorable opinion of him.

Paladino gets a 36 - 31 percent favorability and 31 percent of voters don't know enough about him to form an opinion.

"The question was whether Carl Paladino would get a bounce from his big Republican primary victory. The answer is yes. He's within shouting distance and - you can count on it - he will be shouting," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"Attorney General Andrew Cuomo might be a victim of his own excess. Politicians and polls have depicted him so relentlessly as a sure thing that he might be a victim of the 'throw the bums out' attitude that hits incumbents in this angry year," Carroll added.

"In other Quinnipiac University polls, we have found that the shift from registered voters to likely voters favors Republicans as more conservative voters are more energized to vote right now."

When asked which quality matters most in picking a candidate for governor, 41 percent of New York State likely voters want a candidate who "can bring about needed change to Albany." Another 22 percent want someone who shares their values, while 21 percent want someone honest and trustworthy and 10 percent want someone with the right experience.

"There's a Paladino plus: Forty percent of New Yorkers say the most important trait in a candidate is that he'll 'bring change,'" Carroll said. "But there's a Paladino minus when we ask about the Tea Party. Only 18 percent of voters identify with it."

From September 16 - 20, Quinnipiac University surveyed 751 New York State likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 3.6 percentage points.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio and nationwide as a public service and for research.
