The National Republican Trust PAC blasts Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski for her attempt to launch a "write in" campaign for Senate

Leading Conservative PAC Writes Off Murkowski's Write-In Effort.

WASHINGTON, -- The National Republican Trust PAC (www.GOPTrust.com) blasts Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski for her attempt to launch a "write in" campaign for Senate.

Scott Wheeler, Executive Director of the nation's leading conservative PAC, released the following statement:

"We are calling on the Republican leadership to publicly denounce Murkowski's pathetic attempt to cling to high office and demand that she immediately abandon this outrageous attempt to subvert the will of Alaska voters.

"Senator Murkowski lost the Republican Primary because her too liberal voting record did not sit well with the voters of Alaska. If you go to Washington to expand the power of the government and not the individual freedoms of the electorate you will be voted out of office.

"I'm disappointed but not surprised by Murkowski's actions. Professional politicians like Murkowski feel entitled to their position within the ruling class. Instead of listening to the will of the voters Murkowski will now try distort her record in a desperate attempt to cling to power."

Wheeler continued: "The GOP Trust is fully supporting Joe Miller and his bid to return a Conservative Majority to the U.S. Senate. We are prepared to help in anyway including an independent expenditure ad campaign to ensure Miller is elected."

Background

“The Governor’s Commission on Education, which includes some of Florida’s most prominent business people, recommended Thursday that the state expand a utilities tax used for school construction. The 2.5 percent tax, now charged on the gross receipts of electricity, natural and manufactured gas and telecommunication services also would be applied to water, sewer, cable and solid waste utilities. … Among the [Commission] members are Richard Nunis, chairman of Walt Disney Attractions; Stewart Turley, chairman of Eckerd Corp.; Alvin R. Carpenter, president of CSX Transportation; and Alex Sink, president of Florida Banking Group for NationsBank. Sink pushed the group to take a stronger stand Thursday, saying their recommendation should be to impose the utilities tax all at once. ‘We ought to say we have a crisis, and this is what we really think should happen,’ she said. ‘If the politics go the other way, so be it.’ … But Sink’s recommendation failed on an 18-12 vote.” (Diane Rado, “Commission: Expand Tax To Build More Schools,” St. Petersburg Times, 2/28/97)

“Raising the state sales tax from 6 percent to 7 percent would generate about $10 billion over three years. … Democrats and school officials said today’s rally would leave major imprint. … This is an amazing turnout’ and your voices will make a difference today, said Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, a Democrat. Keep those phone calls coming. Keep those e-mails coming.” (Josh Hafenbrack, “Hopping-Mad Parents Chant, ‘No More Cuts,’” Sun-Sentinel, 3/18/09)

Bob Ehrlich, Martin O’Malley’s Greatest Hits VIDEO

In one of the oddest developments in the campaign to date, Governor Martin O’Malley recently raised the subject of tax increases in Maryland. Since he is responsible for the largest tax increase in Maryland history, we thought Marylanders would find this video of interest.

Days after Governor O’Malley celebrated his $6.3 billion tax increase in November 2007, economists told The Washington Post that the O’Malley tax package, “will place an unfair burden on low income families.” America plunged into recession one month after he signed these taxes into law. Nearly 100,000 Marylanders have since lost their jobs and 3,000 small businesses have closed. We should helping these folks in a tough economy, not hurting them.

Bob Ehrlich and Martin O’Malley have very different views about your taxes. Bob believes that Marylanders deserve to keep more of their earnings in order to save for their future, spend as they see fit, or invest in their own small business in order to grow and create jobs. That’s why he defeated $7.5 billion in tax increases during his first term and it’s why he’s pledged not to raise your taxes if elected in November.

Martin O’Malley disagrees. He believes that forcing you to pay the largest tax increase in Maryland history isn’t enough. He refuses to rule out raising your taxes next year. With so many Marylanders struggling to get by in this economy, we can’t afford to have government dipping into our wallets again next year.

The Republican Governors Association released its first ad in Maryland today about O’Malley’s failed economic policies. The ad can be viewed on the RGA’s new website, www.MartinsMess.com.

“Martin O’Malley’s administration has been a huge disappointment,” said RGA spokesman Chris Schrimpf. “Voters know they were better off four years ago before O’Malley passed the largest tax increase in state history, causing thousands of businesses to leave the state.”

While O’Malley has been governor unemployment in Maryland doubled and more than three thousand businesses closed or moved to other states. O’Malley passed the largest tax increase in state history. He raised taxes on businesses and individuals. He also raised the state’s sales tax. Despite all those tax increases O’Malley has said he’s open to raising more taxes.

“Maryland just can’t afford four more years of Martin O’Malley,” said Schrimpf.

A FULL TEXT transcript of the ad is below:

With Martin O’Malley as Governor, Maryland has moved backward, not forward

Unemployment has doubled

More than three thousand Maryland businesses have closed or moved to other states

O’Malley passed the largest tax increase in history

2010 Delaware Senate TV Ad - "Unafraid"

New Spot Highlights Harry Reid's Claim that Coons is "My Pet"

Alexandria, VA — Today, the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), chaired by U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) launched a new thirty-second television ad highlighting Chris Coons' deep ties to Washington demonstrated by Harry Reid's claim last week that Chris Coons was "my pet." The SCF ad comes just one day after the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) launched its first ad attacking Christine O'Donnell. SCF is working hard to fill the void in this race left by national Republicans who have indicated they won't invest in the race.

"Senator Reid let the cat out of the bag last week when he said Chris Coons was his pet," said Senator DeMint. "Folks in Delaware don't want to send another 'business as usual' politician to Washington. That's why Christine O'Donnell is the best choice. She's not afraid to stand up to the big spenders in both political parties."

"Democrats are spending money in this race because they know Christine can win," said Matt Hoskins, spokesman for the Senate Conservatives Fund. "Republicans cannot abandon her and give up on this seat."

In addition to this new ad, SCF also raised $174,000 last week for Christine O'Donnell's campaign to fill the gap left by national Republicans who decided not to invest in the race.

The Senate Conservatives Fund is a political action committee dedicated to electing principled conservative leaders to the United States Senate. SCF often backs underdog candidates who have been overlooked or even opposed by the Washington establishment. Besides O'Donnell in Delaware, SCF is also supporting Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania, Marco Rubio in Florida, Ken Buck in Colorado, Rand Paul in Kentucky, Mike Lee in Utah, Sharron Angle in Nevada, Ron Johnson in Wisconsin, Dino Rossi in Washington, and Joe Miller in Alaska. ###

Congressman Greg Walden Weekly Republican Address TEXT VIDEO 09/18/10

Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST FULL TEXT TRANSCRIPT BELOW. Video of the address will be available here once the embargo is lifted. 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, September 18, 2010 || MP4 File || MPEG File || MOV File (Full HD - 2 GB)

Washington (Sep 17) In the Weekly Republican Address, Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) calls on Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to allow an up-or-down vote before Congress adjourns for the fall on legislation to stop all of the job-killing tax hikes that are scheduled to take effect on January 1. Rep. Walden notes that stopping all the tax hikes is the will of the people and an emerging bipartisan majority in the House, and is essential to helping our economy get back to creating jobs. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) pressed Speaker Pelosi for an up-or-down vote to stop all the tax hikes in a letter on Wednesday and at his weekly press briefing on Thursday.
Greg WaldenRep. Walden is the chairman of the House Republican Leadership and represents Oregon’s Second Congressional District, which is comprised of 20 counties in eastern, southern, and central Oregon.

“Hello, I’m Representative Greg Walden, and I work for the people of Oregon’s Second Congressional District.

“Before being sent to Congress, like many Americans, I worked for myself. My wife and I were small business owners for nearly 22 years. So we know what it’s like to sign the front of a payroll check, and scratch out a business plan on the back of a napkin.
“You know it’s this entrepreneurial spirit, unfortunately, that is lost on the powers-that-be in Washington, who think that the change comes in the form of 2,000-page monstrosities that transfer money and freedom from the people to the government.

“Americans have had enough of permanent bailouts, government takeovers, and ‘stimulus’ spending sprees. Democrats’ job-killing policies have left our small businesses tied up in uncertainty and our economy bogged down by nearly 10 percent unemployment.

“America is speaking out, and it’s time Washington started listening.

“Republicans have warned that excessive government spending, along with uncertainty facing small businesses, are hampering job creation in America, and we’ve called for bipartisan action this month to address both of these issues.

“First, Republicans want to stop all of the tax hikes that are set to take effect on January 1st. Now, for his part, President Obama proposes raising taxes on half of small business income in America. But economists, and frankly a growing chorus of Democrats in Congress, agree with us that raising taxes on anyone in a struggling economy – especially small businesses – is the exact wrong thing to do.

“Next, Republicans want to cut non-security government spending to 2008 levels, before all of the bailouts, before the government takeovers, and the ‘stimulus’ spending sprees began.

“You know American families and small businesses have been making really tough choices over the last couple of years to cut back spending and to adjust to this new economic reality. Why should the federal government be any different? Our plan saves taxpayers nearly $100 billion and represents a first step on the path to fiscal sanity so that we can stop piling debt on our kids and grandkids.

“Now, with just days remaining in this legislative session, House Republican Leader John Boehner has informed Speaker Nancy Pelosi that Republicans are ready to work together to enact this two-point jobs plan immediately.

“Even as we seek to act quickly, we must also act openly. You know, taxpayers were rightly outraged when Democratic Leaders tried to short-circuit the rules and rig the final vote to force President Obama’s government takeover of health care through Congress.

“The American people didn’t stand for this power grab then, and they won’t stand for it now – especially with their jobs, their families, and their futures at stake.

“That’s why Leader Boehner has asked Speaker Pelosi to assure the American people that she will allow nothing short of a full up-or-down vote on bills to cut spending and stop all of the looming tax hikes.

“This way, the will of the people and their elected representatives can be heard. Anything less fails our economy and provides further evidence that Democrats are more committed to preserving their power than helping our economy.

“If President Obama and Washington Democrats are truly focused on creating jobs, we should take action immediately to cut government spending and stop all of these impending tax hikes.

“And if Speaker Pelosi will allow up-or-down votes on these priorities this month, we can show the American people we’re listening and ready to put their best interests those of our constituents – the people we work for – first.

“Thank you for your time.”

Pat Toomey: Joe Sestak and health care law puts the government between patients and doctors VIDEO

Allentown, PA – Fresh from receiving the support of the Pennsylvania Medical Society PAC earlier this week, today, U.S. Senate candidate and former small business owner Pat Toomey released a new television ad highlighting the health care issue.

The ad features a local Delaware County family doctor and her thoughts on Congressman Joe Sestak’s support for a government health care takeover. Dr. Maria DeMario is a family practitioner in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. She has been practicing medicine for 17 years and is a past president of the Delaware County Medical Society.

Last summer, Dr. DeMario and several other concerned physicians in Delaware County contacted Congressman Sestak’s office about setting up an appointment with him to discuss their concerns about the massive government-run health care bill and the burdens it would place on patients’ care.

Congressman Sestak was so determined to support the government health care takeover that he never even gave his own district’s doctors an appointment.
Dr. DeMario also talks about her support for Pat Toomey’s commonsense health care reforms that protect the doctor-patient relationship, lower the cost of health care, and maintain the quality of care we have in America.

Congressman Sestak’s position on health care is so extreme, he even voted for the most extreme version of the bill that would have allowed states to outlaw private health insurance altogether (Education & Labor Committee, 07/17/09). In fact, when Congress passed the final bill – opposed by 34 Democrats including 2 Pennsylvania Democrats – Congressman Sestak said he was disappointed in the bill because it did not go far enough (MSNBC, Andrea Mitchell
Reports, 12/17/09).

The ad will be running on broadcast television for an indefinite period of time.

“Doctor” - Text Transcript:

Voiceover: Congressman Joe Sestak voted for the most extreme version of a Washington health care takeover.

Dr. Maria C. DeMario: The new health care law puts the government between patients and their doctors. It’s a prescription for disaster. I tried to discuss safe and effective reform with my congressman, Joe Sestak, but our local group of doctors couldn’t even get an appointment. Pat Toomey respects patients’ rights. He has the best plan for health care.

Sharron Angle: Harry Reid illegal aliens Best Friend VIDEO

New Angle Ad: Best Friend

New Television Ad Focuses on Harry Reid's Weak Record on Illegal Immigration.

Today, the Sharron Angle for Senate campaign released a new television ad entitled, “Best Friend.” The ad highlights Harry Reid's record of opposition to Arizona's immigration law and his provision of special tax breaks and Social Security benefits to illegal aliens. These misguided policies demonstrate the failed leadership of Senator Reid, which has resulted in the nation's highest unemployment rate for Nevada.

"Harry Reid's support for amnesty and his opposition to Arizona's immigration law stands in direct contrast to what the voters of Nevada want," said Jerry Stacy, Press Secretary for Sharron Angle. "Senator Reid is out-of-touch with Nevadans in his attempts to give incentives to illegal immigrants while his state's unemployment skyrockets to the worst in the nation."
