About the Audio: The song tells of an electrician whose identity gets confused with that of a dangerous criminal, and is then found and chased through a forest by mercenaries. While in the forest, the electrician flashes back to his high school biology class and remembers that blood conducts electricity because of the hemoglobin (an iron containing oxygen-transport metalloprotein in the red blood cells) it contains.
He then comes up with a plan to kill the mercenaries, he leads them to an electrical generator and cuts his arms to pool blood on the floor and on the electrical power lines. When the mercenaries arrive, they are electrocuted ("bloodrocuted") and die on the spot. However, the electrician is unable to stop his arms from bleeding and dies of blood loss. About the Band: Dethklok is a virtual death metal band that stars in the television show Metalocalypse. Their debut album, released September 25, 2007, was entitled The Dethalbum. Creator Brendon Small wrote the lyrics and music and also performed the guitar, bass, and vocals; ex-Death/ex -Dark Angel/ex-Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad drummer Gene Hoglan performed drums on the album. According to Billboard their album is the highest charting Death Metal album ever.
Very little is currently known about the virtual band's history. At the beginning of the series, they were already extremely popular and considered "The world's greatest cultural force," so the band's actual rise to fame has yet to be explored. There has been little back-story on about how they met or when the band formed. In the series the numeric value of the band's wealth is never actually stated, but the fact that they are referred to as the 12th largest economy in the world, just above Belgium, indicates that they must make somewhere on the order of several hundred billion dollars a year. Their influence is so great that the United Nations even allows them to act as their own police force, used to punish those foolish enough to pirate their songs. About the Show Metalocalypse follows the exploits of the part-American/part-Scandinavian death metal band Dethklok. Although the name is usually spelled "Dethklok," almost all of the band logos have it spelled as "Dëthkløk." Dethklok follows true-to-life metal styling, one example being their death metal-oriented song, "Murmaider," about "mermaid murder." They enjoy a popularity level unheard of in reality, being "the twelfth largest economy on Earth." They are so popular that their fans will do anything their songs tell them, even if it means death.
If Dethklok endorses a company, it instantly becomes the only source for the product it happens to sell, as every competitor is quickly driven out of business. The band's unnatural popularity has attracted the attention of an Illuminati-style group, known as the Tribunal. Each episode sees this group attempt to covertly thwart the band by calling in various "specialists", such as "military pharmaceutical psychotropic drug manufacturers", "celebrity depression specialists" or various psychopaths that attempt to infiltrate the group.
