Meg Whitman Jerry Brown vs. The Truth VIDEO

Whitman releases new TV ad: "Jerry Brown vs. The Truth" New ad features Bill Clinton on Brown: "He doesn't tell people the truth"

CUPERTINO - Today the Meg Whitman Campaign released a new, 30-second statewide television ad that exposes Jerry Brown's long history of distorting the truth of his record on taxes, spending and job creation as governor. Brown is making the same dishonest and exaggerated claims that he made in his third failed run for the presidency; claims that Bill Clinton, CNN and respected national media outlets at that time found to be untrue or exaggerated.

Whitman's new ad features a 1992 video clip of then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton declaring Brown, "raised taxes as governor of California….He doesn't tell people the truth."

"This ad is about Jerry Brown versus the truth. In 1992, Bill Clinton, CNN and a number of media outlets did a very effective job of exposing Jerry Brown's real record as governor. Brown is making the same misleading claims today as he did then," Meg Whitman said. "The truth is he raised taxes, he left the state with a then-record 11 percent unemployment rate and he turned the $6 billion surplus into a $1 billion deficit."

Text transcript of the ad is below:

Announcer: "Jerry Brown's good ol' days. But what really happened?"

Bill Clinton: "CNN. Not me, CNN says his assertion about his tax record was, quote, just plain wrong. Jerry Brown went out there and took credit for the fact that the people of California voted for Proposition 13, which lowered taxes which he opposed. And now he's going around taking credit for it. He raised taxes as governor of California. He had a surplus when he took office and a deficit when he left. He doesn't tell the people the truth."

Text: "Jerry Brown. Same Story. New Decade."

What kind of dirt bag buys and bullies her way into power (threatening to sue TV stations) then as an example utilizes the comments of the most morally bankrupt, dishonest, lying president we have had in years. Bull shit, you can't buy my vote or lie your way into office. As a veteran of over 20 years in the U. S. military I will address this issue to every veterans organizations and meeting I can, and that's a promise! Funny Clinton has now stated he supports Jerry Brown. What does that tell you stupid!

Mr. Anonymous,

I personally congradulate you on your military years served and I bet you're proud of being an American as well as I am. However, I do not know your entire family tree as it relates to this once great state of California, I AM A THIRD GENERATION CALIFORNIAN and have put up with BULLSHIT of these Democrates for 40 years and because of these morons who control the State Senate who fund give away programs for the illegals to buy their votes and not give a rat's ass about the people who actuallly have to pay for their mandates, who's really at blame here my amigo? Mr. Jerry Brown, (Moon Beam),his father and the rest of the so called leaders of California took this great state into BK because of their liberal diplomacy and give away programs. You my friend have to suck it up and not get caught up with the politics that has really screwed up this once great Nation! You mention Clinton as a backer of Brown now... you're right, what does that tell you about these professional politians? THEY HAVE TO GO... ALL OF THEM! NOW! You may not like Meg, but at least she has enough business sense to hopewfully get us turned around so we're not the poverty sate that we are known as now!!!! I don't know about you, but I'M TIRED OF SUBSIDIZING OTHER PEOPLES PROBLEMS!

The Republicans are so funny, when the economy is good you say let’s all celebrate “Cinco de Mayo, my brothers” but when the economy is down “it’s all your fault, you damn immigrant”. When most Americans (with Latin America roots) go to the polls this November we will remember that the GOP has gone on a nationwide rant in proposing and passing several anti-immigration legislation (that our US Courts continue to strike down) and have continue to blame the immigrant for the flat economy or worse. We will remember who stands with us and who stands against us, so trying to stop it now is somewhat funny, but go ahead, you will not change our minds. Plus the more radical of the GOP are now attacking our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, in a misguided attempt to garner some much needed votes, they really are fools, and leading the GOP towards obscurity because they are no longer a party of ideas, just of empty suits. Your hate made you do it, in November; you will reap what you have sown. I wonder what Abraham Lincoln would say about todays GOP, he unlike the current GOP was a man of ideas.
