Bachmann: “I oppose any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices”

Michele Bachmann's new web video

Los Angeles, Calif. – Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann released a new web video today titled “No to Obamacare and Perrycare” in which she takes a stand against the abuse of executive power and crony capitalism. The video highlights her specific opposition to individual mandates in Obamacare and Governor Rick Perry’s executive order for a mandate requiring 12-year-old girls to take the HPV vaccine.

“Whether it’s Obamacare or Perrycare, I oppose any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices,” Bachmann states in the video. “Especially if the decision-making process occurs behind closed doors, bypassing legislative action, and favors campaign contributors over families.”

The following is full text of the video:

“Hi, I’m Michele Bachmann. There are many important issues in this presidential campaign – including the role of government, abuse of executive power and crony capitalism. As a mother of three daughters, I believe that parents are the ones who should decide whether or not their young daughters should receive injections for sexually transmitted diseases. These are decisions that are best left to parents, the children and their doctors and should take into consideration the child’s health and the family’s values.

“Whether its Obamacare or Perrycare I oppose any governor or president who mandates a family’s healthcare choices and violates the rights of parents on these issues – especially if the decision-making process occurs behind closed doors, bypassing legislative action, and favors campaign contributors over families. That’s not right. As President, I’ll do what’s right for families.”

Michele Bachmann: Is this is only way you can get attention from the media and voters? He has commented on this and admitted he made a mistake. Are you now a one issue candidate? Tell us what YOU want to do, not attack other candidates. I am weary of attack approaches. Give us your solutions.

hey anon . . .
if you had been following the campaigning all along you would have heard plenty of substantial comment from this lady, i for one have not made up my mind, however, Michelle is currently tied for first with me. and the other front runners in my book are not the ones that the press and jimmy the peanut vendor are touting as the front runners.

I really love Michelle Bachmann and she's right to oppose government-imposed vaccinations. One mistake by Perry on health care--a mistake he's admitted--does NOT equate to RomneyCare's or ObamaCare's massive socialist intrusions. Perry alas has taken much of the winds out of her sails, and now she's looking desperate to get it back. This isn't the way to do it, Michelle.

You are not telling the whole story. Not one child was innoculated, There is no scientific proof the shots cause mental retardation, andthere is proof the immunizations pervent cancer. Now there is information that teen age males should recieve the shot.I was in a tie supporting you and Perry, but now you have fallen of the list.I am verry disappointed with your actions.

Michelle...did your kids get vaccinated for Measles? Mumps? Rubella? all those "standard" childhood immuniazations that prevent illnesses? that sometimes have dire consequenses?
Perry admitted his mistake, move on to something more substantial. This is making you look like the lefty's want you to look.

every one here should realize that just the premis of perry wanting to force young girls to be be vaccinated without parental consent or knowledge is the absolutly appalling part of this.for this man to become our president and then possibly have similar thoughts and actions is the point michelle is trying to make you see.we all saw who obama was and who he hung out with and yet ignored all of that to get him in and now we know he had no practical experience and marxist leanings.when someone like michelle sounds the alarm pay close attention to it.and dont just fluff it off as campaighn rheteric because she makes an excellent point and shows the kind of leadership qualitties this country needs now.

Michelle Bachmann pulls off a rare feat: she speaks in a flat, dull Upper Midwestern monotone, but manages to sound shrill and jarring.

I used to like her plainspoken, blunt talk. I appreciated her willingness to discover and denounce the hidden appropriations in the Obamacare legislation that no one else was talking about (it showed diligence and a proactive attention to detail).

She started to lose me when she would get on stage--any stage, anywhere, everywhere--and bellow that Obama would be a one term president. She would say that--and not much else. On talk shows she sounded scripted and incapable of deviating from pre-set talking points.

Then she acquitted herself well in the first debate and had a couple of interviews in which she showed a more relaxed, at ease mind that ranged comfortably over various issues with intelligence.

But then she started to fall behind in the polls after Perry entered the race and she reverted to shrieking mode. Aside from being unappealing to the larger electorate, she has become unappealing to many of us who agree with many of her points--although not the demagoguery of the HPV vaccine.

She lacks the self-deprecating irony of Palin--and her timing. She appears to have no sense of humor. Despite reciting tax law credentials as a sign of intellectual accomplishment, she has a notable lack of fluency in speaking about the issues: it sounds like sloganeering.

Now, faced with criticism from the right calling her out on misinformation and mis-statement regarding the vaccine issue, she has dug in and hunkered down. One does not see determination and resiliency so much as stubborn rigidity.

Michelle Bachmann has many admirable qualities, and she is to be admired for her genuine accomplishments. But she is a flawed candidate who cannot build coalitions and address a larger audience: she cannot get to 51% to win; I doubt that she could get to 50% plus one. And she--unfortunately--has become disagreeable, the face of anger.

It's not about being a fist in a velvet glove: there is no velvet, it's all fist.

I was a big fan of Michelle, but she just lost my vote. I know the strategy is to go after the front-runner, but I don't like her tactics. She doesn't stand much of a chance anyway.

Michelle Bachmann is right.

I had been favorably disposed to the candidacy of Michelle Bachman.
NOT ANY MORE.
It's time for her to walk away.
It looks like her well-respected advisor, Ed Rollins, discerned a nasty streak in her and (rightfully) quit.
Those of us in the center and on the sidelines who are sincerely looking at all candidates, are just now picking up on her nastiness. It's not helping her, nor persuading others to consider conservative perspectives.

I had high hopes for Mrs. Bachmann, defended her for her "John Wayne birthplace mistake," tried to make amends to Elvis fans when she sang "Happy Birthday" to him on the anniversary of his death; but this is too much. She is trying to make political gain against a fellow Repub over something that NEVER happened. She needs to move on to her previous focus: "Making Barak Obama a one-term President."

If you really want to know the details of Rick Perry go to http://peskytruth.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/rick-perrys-negatives/. The guy who did this did extensive research on Perry. It answers a lot of questions, including what Michelle is speaking about. It's very well written and very well researched.

To everyone relevant:

I firmly believe we need separation of medicine and state. There is far more to Perry's act that there seems on the surface. He is in thick with Merck, which among other things, has been using human fetal tissue in the production of its vaccines. But they're not telling pro-life parents that when they allow vaccination with Merck products, they're turning their children into cannibals! I have chosen alternative care for my health because standard care doesn't work for me. What Perry would do to take away my access to the remedies I use, successfully, scares the socks off me! And quite frankly, that's not his only problem. He's soft on immigration, and he planned a prayer event together with cult leaders. He strikes me as being seriously bad news, and I hope that people find out before it is too late.

I really like Michelle Bachman but I wish she would check her 'facts' before makes speeches and statements that will come back and bite her! Sometimes it reminds me of people who forward email hoaxes because they don't check things out! Sorry Michelle, but please...check out what you say before you say it. I really do think you'd make a good president, but you've got to stop putting your foot in your mouth.

Ms. Bachman and all who want to bash Gov. Perry because he "raced for the cure" should see how compassionate he is...the OPT OUT TOOK OUT THE MANDATE...THE MANDATE WORDING WAS THERE SO LOW INCOME OR THOSE WITHOUT INSURANCE WOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE VACCINE IF THEY WANTED...IF THEY WANTED! I live here...the opt out was easy for any caring parent to do! Get over it Ms. Bachman...you are the radical here! Paul...fat chance he beats Perry! Paul has some great ideas...unfortunately...he is a coo-coo's.

What Michelle seems to continue to overlook is that PARENTS COULD OPT OUT! Being from TX, i can tell you the opportunity to opt out was clearly understood in English and Spanish. She's working against the cause by trying to defame Perry, rather than focus on more important issues. She has been gradually losing my support but this put me off her for good. She needs to get out of the race.

As for the Bilderberg...another conspiracy that holds no water! Soft on illegals? That dog don't hunt either...what other has been on the border and knows the issues. Gov. Perry tries to be a diplomat and do all he can to protect the citizens of Texas...he knows more so than any what the true issues are...As candidate for POTUS...a true answer of what a candidate will do is simply the Commander in Chief's responsibility to seal our borders of which Gov. Perry is the first and foremost who has the only proposals to do it! As the what we do with the illegals...Gov. Perry has supported legislation of everything but giving amnesty...he is a proponent of enforcing our laws and incarceration and deportation...check the record...As for Texas cession...again...blown out of proportion...Get facts...not contrived conspiracy theories...GO GOVERNOR...GIG EM AND HOOK EM!

Perry has enough issues, it's hard for me to believe that she would take on THIS one. I'd be the last one to defend Perry but this woman is the Republican Joe Biden - a complete embarrassment. Good Grief!

Michelle, You need to remember that the ultimate goal is to defeat bho, not your fellow conservatives. Your characterization of "PerryCare" based on an issue that has been explained, apologized for, and not even in law; is a twisting of the facts and comparing it to ObamaCare is ludicrous.

RE: SUPPORTING VACCINATIONS A MUST - If Schools didn't require vaccinations can you imagine how much whooping coughs, mumps, Rubella and polio would be spread around the nation? To stop sexually transmitted diseases from spreading would be a good thing - even though a child is young. Anyone can stand a simple shot. SHAME ON ANYONE WHO WON'T PERMIT VACCINATIONS FROM PREVENTING DISEASE. They can always opt out.
