Soft Money

"Cities give us collision. 'Tis said, London and New York take the nonsense out of a man." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

"New York is an exciting town where something is happening all the time, most unsolved." ~ Johnny Carson

Seen recently on the sidewalks of new york's upper west side: canvassers for John Kerry, with "Beat Bush" stickers on the back of their clipboards. When they spoke to passersby, they asked "would you like to help elect john kerry".

The canvassers are affiliated with ACT [America Coming Together]
ACT
ACT's Victory Plan

They seemed to take it in stride when the 9 randomly selected pedestrians i saw them interact with responded with no thank you, or shook their heads. The 2 i saw who responded with yes, were solicited for financial contribution to the KerryEdwards Campaign. It is interesting to note that ACT is "not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee" and "contributions to ACT are not deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes".
