QUESTION: What is your reaction to Iraqi statements that they continue to work on drafting a constitution?

ANSWER: The United States welcomes the substantial progress Iraqi leaders are making in drafting a constitution that reflects the views of all Iraqi communities. Leaders of these communities continue their work. We encourage them to continue working towards a draft constitution that reflects a shared vision of Iraq’s future, and which can be put to Iraqis for their approval in October. The United States continues to support the ongoing democratic process in Iraq.
