Meg Whitman new television ad Jerry Brown No Plan TEXT VIDEO

CUPERTINO - The Meg Whitman for Governor Campaign today launched a new statewide television ad. The 30-second spot, titled "No Plan," features two television clips of Jerry Brown on CNN admitting that he never had a plan for California during his tenure as governor.

In one of the clips, Brown confesses, "You run for office and the assumption is, oh, I know what to do. But you don't. I didn't have a plan for California."

An announcer adds, "With our state in crisis, we need a governor with a plan."

Last week, Whitman released "Creating Jobs For A New California," a policy booklet that highlights her plan to create two million private-sector jobs by 2015. In contrast, Jerry Brown continues to refuse to tell voters how he plans to fix California's problems.

Full Text Transcript of the ad:

Jerry Brown: You need a real plan. Something I'll acknowledge I did not have.

Announcer: Jerry Brown. No plan then. No plan now. Meg Whitman. A plan for jobs. Log on, learn more.

Tom McClintock Repeating the Lesson TEXT VIDEO

Repeating the Lesson House Chamber, Washington, D.C. July 20, 2010

Mr. Speaker:

When the stimulus bill became law, unemployment stood at 8.2 percent. Today, eighteen months and hundreds of billions of dollars later, unemployment is 9.5 percent.

This spending binge hasn’t made things better – it has made things demonstrably worse – because before government can put money into the economy, it first takes that money out of the economy. We see the job created when government puts the money back, but we don’t see the jobs that are lost because government first took that money out of the economy.

When we borrow trillions of dollars, we crowd out the same capital pool that would otherwise have been available for businesses to create jobs. And so those jobs don’t get created and the ranks of the unemployed grow.

These are the same policies that turned the recession of 1929 into the depression of the 1930’s. Do we really want to repeat this lesson?

The United States of America vs.The State of Arizona and Janice K. Brewer Governor FULL TEXT

Janice K. Brewer (“Governor Brewer”) and the State of Arizona oppose plaintiff’s Motion for Preliminary Injunction (doc. 27), which seeks to enjoin enforcement of the “Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act,” as amended (“SB 1070” or the “Act”). SB 1070 is Arizona’s legitimate and constitutionally permissible response to the crushing personal, environmental, criminal, and financial burdens thrust upon the State as a consequence of illegal immigration and the lack of comprehensive enforcement activity by the federal government and certain Arizona “sanctuary” cities. The Arizona Legislature enacted SB 1070 primarily to require that Arizona’s law enforcement officers cooperate in the enforcement of federal immigration laws and, pursuant to the State’s broad police powers, to establish state crimes that mirror existing federal laws.

Plaintiff seeks to enjoin SB 1070 as facially unconstitutional. Plaintiff’s claims find no support in the Constitution or federal law and, in many instances, contravene express congressional intent. Plaintiff bears a heavy burden of establishing that Sections 2 through 6 of SB 1070 are unconstitutional in all of their applications, that plaintiff will be irreparably harmed if the law is not enjoined, and that plaintiff’s interests in enjoining Sections 2 through 6 outweigh Arizona’s interests in having SB 1070 implemented.1 Plaintiff attempts to meet this burden by relying on faulty premises and inapposite case law. Plaintiff will not suffer any harm, much less irreparable harm, if SB 1070 is implemented because the Act requires only that Arizona’s law enforcement officers act in accordance with their constitutional authority and congressionally established federal policy. Plaintiff is not entitled to an injunction. FULL TEXT IN PDF FORMAT The United States of America vs.The State of Arizona and Janice K. Brewer Governor

Meet Joe Miller VIDEO

Joe Miller is an Alaskan by choice. He grew up in a working class family in Kansas, and headed to the Last Frontier sixteen years ago because of his love for the outdoors. After graduating from law school, Miller accepted a position at a prestigious law firm in Anchorage. Just three years later, at the age of 30, he was appointed as a State Magistrate (the youngest then serving in Alaska) as well as a Superior Court Master for the Fourth Judicial District. Further honors followed four years later when Miller was appointed an Acting State District Court Judge and, shortly thereafter, U.S. Magistrate Judge in Fairbanks. Again, he had the distinction of being the youngest then serving in that federal position, not only in the state, but also in the entire nation. He was also the only judge in the United States, at that time, serving at both the federal and state levels simultaneously.

In 2004, Miller stepped down from the bench to run for State Representative. He overwhelmingly won the contested Republican primary and nearly pulled off an upset in the general election receiving over 48% of the vote against the Democratic incumbent in a traditionally Democratic district: the closest re-election campaign the officeholder has ever faced. Joe returned to the successful full time practice of law at his own firm. He has represented clients in a wide variety of cases, a number of which have gone all the way to the Alaska Supreme Court.

Prior to becoming an attorney and a judge, Miller served as an officer in the United States Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his leadership in combat during the First Gulf War. He received his commission from West Point, where he graduated with honors. Joe is also a graduate of Yale Law School and holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Alaska.

Joe currently lives with his family in Fairbanks where he practices law. His wife of 18 years, Kathleen, is a teacher and serves on the Alaska Judicial Council, a commission that makes recommendations to the Governor concerning Alaska judicial nominees.

American Action Network Charlie Crist Oppose the Obama Agenda and Job Killing Taxes VIDEO

American Action Network Launches New Issue Advocacy Campaign in Florida

Urges Floridians to Sign a Petition at www.changingcharlie.com Asking Gov. Charlie Crist to Oppose the Obama Agenda and Job Killing Taxes.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The American Action Network started a new television and internet issue advocacy campaign today with an ad today called “Tattoo.” The ad highlights Governor Charlie Crist’s flip-flopping on important policies that directly affect Florida’s families and small businesses. The ad encourages Floridians to sign a petition urging Gov. Crist to commit to the policies and take the actions as Governor that will create jobs in a state that suffers from 11.7% unemployment.

“The Network’s education effort is a call to action for the citizens of Florida that smaller government, lower taxes and jobs creation are the key to a stronger America. Floridians have the power and ability to take back control of their government and the policies that are negatively impacting their everyday life—they just need to get involved,” said Norm Coleman, CEO of the American Action Network.

“We are asking for the citizens of Florida to sign a petition asking Governor Charlie Crist to stand up to the Obama agenda and stop supporting job killing taxes,” said Rob Collins, President of the American Action Network. “During these challenging times policymakers must resolutely stand by the time tested center-right principles of lower taxes, smaller government and real job creation.”

Sarah Palin Documents show mainstream media killed stories about Jeremiah Wright

Rev. Jeremiah WrightThis juicy bit from Sarah's Facebook page. Media Bias? What Media Bias? BOMBSHELL!

It’s encouraging for commonsense conservatives who are frustrated with media cover-ups and biases to see truth revealed.

Remember the infamous “JournoList” – the listserv chat group of hundreds of “prominent” mainstream media personalities? It seems The Daily Caller obtained copies of the JournoList email exchanges from the 2008 campaign having to do with the media’s coverage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, then candidate Obama’s pastor of 20 years. It’s everything you may have suspected.

This, in the words of one JournoList member:

“I do not endorse a Popular Front, nor do I think you need to. It’s not necessary to jump to Wright-qua-Wright’s defense. What is necessary is to raise the cost on the right of going after the left. In other words, find a rightwinger’s [sic] and smash it through a plate-glass window. Take a snapshot of the bleeding mess and send it out in a Christmas card to let the right know that it needs to live in a state of constant fear. Obviously I mean this rhetorically.

And I think this threads the needle. If the right forces us all to either defend Wright or tear him down, no matter what we choose, we lose the game they’ve put upon us. Instead, take one of them — Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists. Ask: why do they have such a deep-seated problem with a black politician who unites the country? What lurks behind those problems? This makes *them* sputter with rage, which in turn leads to overreaction and self-destruction.”

That’s just one little excerpt. Read the whole thing here. It’s quite an eye-opener. It really says it all – though more will no doubt be revealed in the future, no doubt covering the lamestream media’s coverage of other issues and people. May the light keep shining!

Charles K. Djou: we need more private sector jobs, not more public sector programs VIDEO

Washington, DC July 20, 2010 4:52 PM — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) spoke several times today on the need for the majority in Congress and the Administration to focus on jobs. At a press conference in the morning, Congressman Djou made the following statement:

“Good morning, I just went through and in front of the judgment of the voters two months ago, back in my district of Hawaii. The voters understand, as the American people understand, we need more private sector jobs, not more public sector programs. The U.S. Congress today is spending too much money on programs that do not work, with no plan to pay it back.

“What I understand, and what the Republican Conference understands, is that every single dollar the government spends comes from a family. And right now the majority is leading us down a path of fiscal irresponsibility and compounding it by refusing to pass a budget.”

David Vitter, Moratorium could be more devastating than spill itself VIDEO

Recent studies have estimated that the Obama administration’s latest offshore drilling moratorium could destroy more than 100,000 jobs along the Gulf Coast while costing billions of dollars in lost wages. In just six months, it could end up doing more damage to our economy than the oil spill itself.

And the damage is not limited just to oil rigs; it would also hurt the thousands of workers employed in industries that support drilling and exploration, and the millions of dollars in lost revenues from taxes and lease sales directed to coastal restoration would eventually affect every Gulf Coast resident.

The oil spill has been an unprecedented disaster, and Louisianians are heartbroken not only by the initial loss of life, but also by the ongoing devastation to our coast. But shutting down drilling altogether is a mistake that would only make the long-term economic situation worse for residents of the Gulf Coast, as uncertainty forces energy companies to relocate their assets and the jobs they provide overseas. We must continue energy exploration here at home to acquire the energy resources our nation needs, and we must do it while making the process safer.

Yet the Obama administration has rejected a careful, balanced approach in favor of a heavy-handed blanket moratorium. After multiple court rulings against the initial moratorium, the administration has devised a new version of the moratorium that affects deepwater and shallow-water rigs alike. The Department of Interior has also failed to act on pending drilling permit applications, creating a de facto moratorium even for companies that have complied with new safety and inspection requirements.

Last week, U.S. Sens. John Cornyn of Texas and Roger Wicker of Mississippi joined me in introducing a bill that would lift the administration’s newest offshore drilling and permitting moratorium. Our bill would force the Department of Interior to speed up the permitting process and make definitive decisions on issuing permits once a company has complied with the new safety and inspection requirements. It would be enforced on a permit-by-permit basis, making the moratorium invalid for any operator that complies with Interior’s recently issued safety and inspection requirements, and it would force Interior to issue a decision within 30 days after receiving a permit application.

With our economy struggling, we can’t afford to let the administration kill thousands more jobs while shifting an even larger percentage of our energy production overseas. Instead, let’s focus on enforcing the current regulations so that folks in the energy sector can get back to work producing the resources our economy needs as it recovers. -30-

Republican Conference Secretary John Carter Joins Tea Party Caucus

John Carter(WASHINGTON, DC) 07/20/10 – House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (TX-31) joined Conference Chairman Mike Pence (IN-06) today as a charter member of the new Tea Party Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The move by Carter, one of six elected leaders of the Republican Party in the House, sends a strong message that key GOP leaders are working hand-in-hand with Tea Party activists to restore conservative principles in Washington.
"The left is doing everything in their power to demonize and marginalize the Tea Party movement because they are so terrified of it," says Carter. "They correctly recognize that the views of the movement represent the views of the majority of American voters on all the key issues, and those views are the opposite of what President Obama and Speaker Pelosi are trying to sell. I am proud and honored to be a charter member of this Caucus, which I believe will help provide improved communications between conservative activists nationwide and the U.S. House."

Kelly Ayotte Statement on Endorsement from Gov. Sarah Palin

Kelly AyotteFormer Alaska Governor Calls Ayotte “Granite Grizzly”

MANCHESTER, NH – Former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte, of Nashua, today released the following statement regarding her endorsement from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin:

“Governor Palin is a conservative icon who has brought enormous energy to our Party. As governor, she took on the entrenched special interests to deliver results. Governor Palin is a reformer in every sense of the word,

and she has always stood firm for the conservative principles of low taxes, less spending and personal responsibility. I’m running for Senate to put our fiscal house in order and to get our country moving in the right direction again, and I’m honored to have her support.”

SARAH PALIN FACEBOOK POSTING

Kelly Ayotte for New Hampshire

Todd, Willow, and I are headed out to Kodiak and Afognak to meet with logging families on the forested islands. As we work and sightsee on America’s largest island we’ll get to view more majestic bears, so now is a good time to draw attention to the political equivalent of the species.

It’s my honor to endorse a Granite State “mama grizzly” who has broken barriers, fought off and locked up criminals, and battled all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect the rights of New Hampshire parents – and won!

New Hampshire is lucky to have Kelly Ayotte as a candidate for the U.S. Senate this year. Kelly is a daughter of the Granite State, a product of its public schools, and its first female Attorney General. In her impressive five years in the AG’s office, Kelly earned a reputation for being tough on crime, supportive of law enforcement, and tireless in the defense of the rights of the people of New Hampshire. When Planned Parenthood challenged New Hampshire’s parental notification law, Kelly fought them all the way to the Supreme Court and won.

She’s the proud mother of two and the wife of a combat veteran who flew missions over Iraq and currently serves in the Air National Guard. Kelly and her husband started a small landscaping/snow removal business; so, she understands first hand the crushing burden Washington imposes on our small businesses. This pro-life, pro-family, anti-tax constitutional commonsense conservative is the Democrats’ biggest fear in November. They’re already running false ads against her weeks before even the primary election. And on top of that Kelly is facing attacks from a self-funded millionaire running with an R next to his name who likes Obamacare and cap-and-tax.

Kelly is the strongest commonsense conservative who can win in the fall. I knew I liked her when I met her earlier this year, and I know this Granite Grizzly will represent New Hampshire with distinction in Washington.

Please join me in supporting Kelly Ayotte by visiting her website at www.ayotteforsenate.com and following her on Facebook and Twitter.

One final note: I spent time campaigning in New Hampshire in 2008, and I know that the good people there are a lot like Alaskans. In both of our states, we like to get to know the people running for office, look them in the eye, and judge their character. New Hampshire voters know not to rely on misleading negative ads. New Hampshire, tune out the ads and send your native daughter to the Senate. She’ll fight for you there just as passionately and fearlessly as she fought for you in the highest court of the land.

George P. Bush Hispanic Republicans of Texas

George P. BushHispanics constitute the largest single growing community in Texas and have a profound impact on this state. They contribute to our economy as job creators, they contribute to the armed forces through their patriotism and they contribute to our democracy with their vote and public service.
As it stands today, Hispanic leaders are disproportionately under-represented as elected officeholders especially as Republicans. Hispanic Republicans of Texas has been established to close the gap, build leadership within the Hispanic community and support those who are ready to serve as elected leaders of this state.

The Hispanic Republicans of Texas will recruit, elect, support and defend Hispanic Republican officeholders and candidates for state and local elected offices who share our common values of faith, family, lower taxes, less regulations and less government spending to promote individual prosperity and economic growth in Texas. Membership in the Hispanic Republicans of Texas PAC is open to all Texans who are interested in empowering the Hispanic community to leadership in government.

John Kasich Ad: "Record" VIDEO

John and Mary continue to share with Ohio their plan to reduce government spending so we can begin lowering taxes, reducing red tape, and improving education and job training. Also, a strong new focus on economic development is essential to help existing businesses grow and attract new businesses.

As you can see from the new ad, John’s straightforward, direct outreach to Ohio voters is a big contrast to the $3 million in negative attack ads that Ted Strickland and his allies have used to try to smear John. These attacks make no mention of Strickland, his bad decisions, bad budgeting and bad management.

Just as Strickland’s policies have failed and hurt Ohio, his negative attack ads have failed and hurt his campaign. Public polling—as well as our own internal polls—confirms this. Ohio voters want answers to our problems, not baseless, misleading attacks. In our new ad, John points out these fallacies and, as a result, Ted Strickland’s credibility deficit deepens.

John and Mary’s mission is to get Ohio back on track and to bring Ohioans together to do it. Look out for more information soon as the campaign continues.

Marco Rubio Charlie Crist Stimulus Would Have Been Bigger if not for Republican opposition VIDEO

Miami, FL – While Marco Rubio has called for ending the wasteful stimulus program, Charlie Crist campaigned for it, lobbied for it, endorsed it and said he would have voted for it if he was in the Senate. And now this morning, Vice President Joe Biden says that the Obama-Crist “would have been bigger” if not for Republican opposition.

“Vice President Biden’s comment that the stimulus would have been even bigger if not for principled opposition by Republicans is exactly why Florida needs a check-and-balance in Washington today. Floridians know that Marco Rubio would be a vote to end the out-of-control spending in Washington and a vote for responsible economic ideas that create jobs. Floridians also know that Charlie Crist and Congressman Meek would be an automatic vote for wasteful Washington big government stimulus programs that have failed Florida and our nation,” said Alex Burgos, Rubio for Senate spokesman.

Marco Rubio Joe Biden Stimulus Would Have Been Bigger But For GOP VIDEO

Was the $862 billion stimulus too small? It probably would have been bigger, Vice President Joe Biden said, if it weren’t for Republican opposition in early 2009.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview on “This Week,” host Jake Tapper asked Biden whether, in retrospect, the stimulus was too small given the dismal jobs situation in the country.
“There’s a lot of people at the time argued it was too small,” he said. “A lot of people in our administration…even some Republican economists and some Nobel laureates like Paul Krugman, who continues to argue it was too small.”

“But, you know,” Biden told Tapper, “there was a reality. In order to get what we got passed, we had to find Republican votes. And we found three. And we finally got it passed,” Biden said.

But if it wasn’t for the legislative reality, Biden explained, “I think it would have been bigger. I think it would have been bigger. In fact, what we offered was slightly bigger than that. But the truth of the matter is that the recovery package, everybody’s talking about it [like] it’s over. The truth is now, we’re spending more now this summer than we — I’m calling this…the summer of recovery,” the Vice President said.

Jeff Perry, candidate for Congress in the Tenth Congressional District, is continuing his bid to wake up Washington with a new weekly radio show.

The show, called "Wake up Washington," is aimed at people who are tired of the status quo in Washington, D.C. and who believe that the current political system needs correction. It is scheduled to air every Tuesday night from 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m on WATD 95.9-FM.

"I'm excited to have this forum to talk about how Washington is broken, and to have a conversation with listeners about ways to fix it," said Perry. "Politicians in our nation's Capitol have gotten away from the basic values we all believe in. Meanwhile, issues that greatly matter to the future of our county are being ignored. I look forward to discussing issues like illegal immigration, the national debt, health care and foreign policy on the show and hearing from people who agree about the need for real, commonsense solutions to these problems."

Rob Portman Statement on Wall Street reform

Rob Portman

Rob Portman Statement on Another Missed Opportunity for Real Reform

COLUMBUS, OH – U.S. Senate candidate Rob Portman today issued the following statement regarding Democrats’ financial regulatory legislation that is another missed opportumity for real reforms to help put Ohio and the nation back on the right economic track:
“Wall Street reform is badly needed, but just like we saw during the debate regarding the healthcare bill, Washington missed an opportunity for real, balanced reform by passing partisan legislation that does not deal with the underlying problems. The financial regulation reform legislation does nothing to end ‘too big to fail,’ ignores the deep problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that were a catalyst for the financial crisis, and makes it even harder for Ohio small businesses to get loans from community banks and other lenders. This will make it harder, not easier, to create jobs and get our Ohio economy back on its feet. Congress had a chance to address a root cause of our economic downturn – the mortgage meltdown, do away with the bailout mentality that has taken hold, and help small businesses. Unfortunately, political gamesmanship got in the way.”

Weekly Republican Address TEXT PODCAST VIDEO 07/17/10

U.S. Senator Pat Roberts Delivers Weekly Republican Address. Podcast of the address: Download MP3 for PODCAST Video of the address will be available here once the embargo is lifted. 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, July 17, 2010 MP4 File

‘Clearly The President’s Plan Is To Have Dr. Berwick’s Use Of Rationing Cut That Half A Trillion Dollars From Medicare.’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) released the following weekly Republican address. The address is available in both audio and video format and is embargoed until 6:00 a.m. ET, Saturday, July 17, 2010.

Full transcript of Senator Roberts’ Address:

I’m Pat Roberts – and I am very proud to represent Kansas in the U.S. Senate.

I’ve had the privilege of serving the people of my state as both a Senator and a Congressman.

And much of my work in Congress has focused on health care, and especially the needs and concerns of patients -- whether in a rural hospital in my hometown of Dodge City or in a major metropolitan area like Kansas City.

And no matter where I go, patients tell me they are very worried that the new health care law – Obamacare -- will cost more, hurt their quality of care, and keep them from seeing their doctor that they know and trust.

Now as you know, Republicans fought against holding the health care debate behind closed doors. We fought against the Parliamentary gimmicks used to pass the bill against the wishes of a majority of Kansans and Americans.

Now, as we all return to work after our Independence Day celebrations, we learn President Obama – again – has gone behind closed doors to appoint a health care czar without public debate.

President Obama gave a recess appointment – avoiding a public hearing and a vote in the Senate – to Dr. Donald Berwick, making him the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

It is ironic that the President chose Independence Day for this action, avoiding the Senate’s Constitutional check on executive power, to appoint Dr. Berwick.

Now upon learning of this move, the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Senator Max Baucus, a Democrat from Montana said, ‘I’m troubled that, rather than going through the standard nomination process, Dr. Berwick was recess appointed.’

I could not agree more with my Democrat colleague.

Without a public confirmation hearing on Dr. Berwick’s nomination, the Senate and the American people do not have the opportunity to learn about the man who will control one third of all health care spending in America.

So a lot is at stake.

His influence will extend beyond Medicare and Medicaid affecting nearly every American’s care because Medicare sets the course for private insurers.

As part of the new health care law, Dr. Berwick will have to a cut half a trillion dollars from Medicare, obviously limiting seniors’ choices.

Now as a result of the recess appointment, Dr. Berwick will take office through the back door without any formal public vetting as prescribed by the Constitution.

Now this flies in the face of what was promised to be the most transparent administration in our nation's history.

So – what do we know about how Dr. Berwick will administer your health care? Lets look at his own statements.

He said, ‘any health-care funding plan...must—must—redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate.’

Well, the obvious fear is Dr. Berwick will in fact use this position to redistribute the wealth in our country, cementing Obamacare as a giant, but stealthy, income transfer machine.

Dr. Berwick has spoken very favorably about the British National Health Service, calling it ‘not just a national treasure, [but] a global treasure’ as well.

Unfortunately, the British system rations care to contain costs.

The following disturbing statement of Dr. Berwick speaks for itself: ‘most people who have serious pain do not need advanced methods; they just need the morphine and counseling that has been around for centuries.’

Now is this the person we want making health care decisions for us – for our parents– our grandparents – our children; grandchildren?

Dr. Berwick has proposed similar rationing ideas for the American health care system saying, ‘the decision is not whether or not we will ration care– the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.’

Clearly the president’s plan is to have Dr. Berwick’s use of rationing cut that half a trillion dollars from Medicare.

Americans will not know how much saving a life is worth until Dr. Berwick is calling the shots. There should be a public forum where he must address who should make medical decisions- your doctor? The patient? The family? Or the government?

We urge the president to reconsider his recess appointment of Dr. Berwick and encourage the Finance Committee to at least hold a public hearing now.

The president’s health care plan – the most sweeping overhaul of health care in our lifetime – cannot be implemented behind closed doors. This is a warning! Your health care and the care of your loved ones now hangs in the balance. Americans deserve answers. ###

Joe Sestak's record on Israel ad VIDEO

Joe Sestak's record on Israel.

Sestak’s Israel Record Goes National
Thursday, July 15th, 2010 In the News

Philadelphia Jewish Exponent
Bryan Schwartzman, Staff Writer

A new effort to attack U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak’s record on Israel has gone viral. A debate that has long been playing out in the pages of the Jewish Exponent has now made its way to MSNBCs “Morning Joe,” and Web sites such as Politico, The Atlantic, Commentary, the Huffington Post and YouTube.

But the stakes are now higher for Sestak, the Democratic nominee going up against Republican Pat Toomey for Pennsylvania’s junior Senate seat in the November election.

At the centerpiece of the new campaign against Sestak is a television ad sponsored by a prominent group of Jews and Evangelical Christians calling itself the Emergency Committee for Israel.

The ad, airing in Pennsylvania this week — including during a Phillies game — highlights an appearance he made before a controversial Muslim group in 2007 and criticizes him for signing one congressional letter urging Israel to ease its blockade of Gaza and for not signing another one affirming Israel-U.S. ties.

NRA Ad Opposing Kagan Nomination To U.S. Supreme Court VIDEO

NRA Ad Opposing Kagan Nomination To U.S. Supreme Court.

Joint Statement by Wayne LaPierre, NRA Executive Vice President & CEO,
and Chris Cox, Executive Director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action

There may be no vote a United States Senator casts that is more important than a vote to confirm a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Now that the Court has clearly stated that the Second Amendment is a fundamental, individual right that applies to all law-abiding Americans, NRA members and gun owners expect a nominee to the Court to fully support, defend and preserve that freedom.

We have carefully examined the career, written documents and public statements of nominee Elena Kagan and have found nothing to indicate any support for the Second Amendment. On the contrary, the facts reveal a nominee who opposes Second Amendment rights and is clearly out of step with mainstream Americans.

Therefore, the NRA is strongly opposed to Kagan’s confirmation to the Court.

In testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she refused to declare support for the Second Amendment, saying only that the matter was “settled law.”

This was eerily similar to the scripted testimony of Justice Sonia Sotomayor last year, prior to her confirmation to the Court. When pressed on the Second Amendment then, Sotomayor also referred to the issue as “settled law.”

But in the recently decided case of McDonald v. City of Chicago, Sotomayor ignored the “settled law” of the Heller decision and signed a dissenting opinion that declared, “I can find nothing in the Second Amendment’s text, history, or underlying rationale that could warrant characterizing it as ‘fundamental’ insofar as it seeks to protect the keeping and bearing of arms for private self-defense purposes.”

It has become obvious that “settled law” is the scripted code of an anti-gun nominee’s confirmation effort. The NRA is not fooled. No member of the U.S. Senate should be either.

With no judicial record, only Kagan’s political career can be reviewed. And this provides no reason to trust her with Americans’ firearms freedom. Throughout her career, she has repeatedly demonstrated a clear hostility to the fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms under the U.S. Constitution.

As a clerk for Justice Thurgood Marshall, Kagan said she was “not sympathetic” to a challenge to Washington, DC’s ban on firearms. As a domestic policy advisor in the Clinton White House, a colleague described her as “immersed” in Clinton’s aggressive assaults on the Second Amendment. She was involved in Clinton’s scheme to ban more than 50 types of commonly-owned semiautomatic firearms – an effort described as “…taking the law and bending it as far as we can to capture a whole new class of guns.”

As U.S. Solicitor General, Kagan chose not to file a brief last year in the landmark McDonald case, thus taking the position that incorporating the Second Amendment and applying it to the states was of no interest to the Obama Administration or the federal government.

These are not the positions of a person who supports the Second Amendment and, in fact, represent a clear and present danger to the right to keep and bear arms.

Kagan’s record clearly reveals that she does not believe that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right. In her recent testimony, she refused to acknowledge respect for the God-given right of self-defense.

She should not serve on any court, let alone be confirmed to a lifetime seat on the highest court in the land.

The NRA is strongly opposed to the confirmation of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court. This vote matters and will be a part of future candidate evaluations.

New American Crossroads Ad: 'Enough!' to Harry Reid VIDEO

Challenges Reid’s Washington-Centered Agenda as Nevadans Suffer

WASHINGTON, DC – American Crossroads today released a new ad entitled “Really?” which challenges Senator Harry Reid’s (D-NV) assertion that “no one can do more” for Nevada because of his twenty-four year tenure in the Senate. The new ad cites a recent self-promoting ad by Reid as well as part of a speech given by Reid on the Senate floor.

“Unfortunately, Senator Reid’s record of taxpayer-funded bailouts, government takeovers and spiraling debt has not helped the hundreds of thousands of Nevadans who are out of work or losing their homes,” said Mike Duncan, chairman of the board of American Crossroads. “Nevada and the rest of the country deserve something better than Reid’s tired Washington formula of taxpayer-financed pork and attack politics.”

The new American Crossroads ad starts today, with an initial statewide buy of $120,000. The script is as follows:

“Harry Reid says, ‘No one can do more’ than he can. Really, Harry? [REID ON SENATE FLOOR:] ‘Today is a big day in America. Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today, which is really good.’ Really, Harry? No wonder Nevada now has the highest unemployment in the nation. Bailouts. Deficits. ObamaCare. No one can do more? Really, Harry? For Nevadans, haven’t you done enough?” ###

Ken Buck Grassroots balanced budget ad VIDEO

Ken Buck campaign's first TV ad is about the need for a balanced budget.

In every part of the state people tell me they are concerned about the growth of government. They are concerned about the burdens being placed on their kids and grandkids. And they're concerned about the threats to their individual liberties.

It's bad for the country when the government owns car companies. That's not a role government is good at, and it's certainly not a role we ever considered for our government.

So why is it happening?

Well, Congress and government are out of control. They are not standing up for the principles that the people in Colorado and taxpayers across the country share.

One of those principles is that NO company should ever be treated favorably with taxpayer dollars because they are considered "too big to fail." We have a system in place to handle banks and other companies that get in trouble. It's called bankruptcy, and it should be used where appropriate.

Bob Corker Financial Reform bill will make credit less available and more expensive, expand government bureaucracy VIDEO

WASHINGTON – After working for more than a year toward reform of our country’s financial sector, U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., today voted against the regulatory reform bill he had once hoped to cosponsor, saying the legislation is a “net negative” for the American public. Corker says the bill will make credit less available and more expensive, expand government bureaucracy, and hurt small- and medium-sized businesses. The bill, technically called “the conference report to accompany H.R. 4173,” passed by a vote of 60 to 38.

“I think I worked as hard as anyone in the Senate toward meaningful, bipartisan reform, but this legislation misses the mark,” says Corker. “It overreaches in areas that have nothing to do with this crisis or future financial stability and totally disregards some of the core issues that got us in this situation. In the final analysis, for the average American and most small businesses, this bill will cause credit to be less available and more expensive, dramatically increase the size of the federal bureaucracy, and do more to hurt community banks than to reform our country’s financial infrastructure. There will be unintended consequences, and, over time, I believe it could disadvantage our country in the global marketplace.

“In my view, today marks a tremendous missed opportunity on what could have been groundbreaking, long-overdue bipartisan reform of a regulatory framework that was not up to the task of reining in a rapidly growing and changing financial system. We had an opportunity to show the American people that we can work together on big issues and solve problems, and it’s a shame that we did not do that.

“My friends on the other side of the aisle like to call this bill ‘Wall Street reform,’ and our side likes to call it a ‘Wall Street bailout,’ but it is neither. Wall Street, with teams of compliance officers to deal with new regulations, in many ways comes out a winner because little will change. Small banks, forced to use their limited resources to comply with burdensome new reporting requirements, will suffer, as will the communities they serve.

“We punted most of the work to regulators who will spend the next several years making and implementing rules, which leaves tremendous ambiguity and instability at a time when businesses large and small desperately need certainty to survive and expand. There’s uncertainty about how the derivatives regulations will be interpreted which could put many of America’s employers in a wait-and-see mode before they can even consider hiring new employees. Farmers and other end users who use derivatives in their daily lives to hedge true business risks are panic stricken for clarity about whether they will have to put up more working capital or equipment as collateral against the risks they hedge, risks like the cost of fuel, steel and grain.

“Housing and mortgage finance policies – the root causes of the meltdown and the greatest symptoms of the correction – were left largely unaddressed in the bill.

“There is no doubt that we needed to address consumer protection, but instead of doing so appropriately, this bill creates a mammoth new government agency with dangerous, unchecked powers and enormous taxpayer monies at its disposal. Perhaps most alarming is that the fate of this organization, as well as its mission and activities, rests solely in the hands of one person, not one board or one agency, but one person. I find it totally irresponsible that Congress did not ensure appropriate checks and balances.

“Although I’m disappointed in the outcome of this debate, there is more work to do and my staff and I look forward to playing a constructive role in fixing some of the problems this bill will create, in addressing glaring omissions like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and our residential mortgage markets, and in preventing or lessening the negative impact this may have on the U.S. as it relates to our global competitiveness.” ###

Republicans Offered Better Solution to Hold Wall Street Accountable

John BoehnerGOP Leader: “The Democrats’ bill makes bailouts permanent, enshrines ‘too big to fail’ into law, and fails to reform the government mortgage companies that sparked the meltdown by giving high-risk loans to people who couldn’t afford it, and it needs to be fixed.”
Washington (Jul 15) House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after the Senate passed the Democrats’ job-killing Wall Street bailout bill:

“The American people want reform, not more bailouts from Washington Democrats for their Wall Street allies. The Democrats’ bill makes bailouts permanent, enshrines ‘too big to fail’ into law, and fails to reform the government mortgage companies that sparked the meltdown by giving high-risk loans to people who couldn’t afford it, and it needs to be fixed. House Republicans offered a better solution to stop the Democrats’ permanent bailouts, reform Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac, and protect taxpayers and help small businesses create jobs. Our plan holds Wall Street accountable; the Democrats’ plan lets them off the hook. It’s time to start listening to the American people and work together on common-sense solutions to end the bailouts, reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and make Wall Street responsible for its actions.”

NOTE: Republicans offered comprehensive financial regulatory reform legislation – the Consumer Protection and Regulatory Enhancement Act (H.R. 3310) – designed to (1) stop the Democrats’ permanent bailouts for their Wall Street allies; (2) protect taxpayers and create jobs; (3) address Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac reform, the root causes of the housing meltdown & financial crisis; and (4) rein in the out of control Federal Reserve & end “too big to fail.”

DeMint Vitter amendment to Defund Justice Department's Lawsuit Against Arizona

Jim DeMintDeMint-Vitter Amendment Would Stop Obama Administration Attempts to Sue Arizona Over Immigration Law.

The purpose of the DeMint-Vitter Amendment would be to prohibit the funding of any suit by the Department of Justice seeking to invalidate the Arizona immigrant registration law.
Today, U.S. Senators Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the U.S. Senate Steering Committee, and David Vitter (R-Louisiana), chairman of the U.S. Senate Border Security Caucus, announced the introduction of an amendment that would prohibit President Obama’s administration, including the Department of Justice and other agencies, from participating in lawsuits seeking to invalidate the recently enacted Arizona immigration law. The DeMint-Vitter amendment (#4464) could be voted on next week as part of the debate on the small business bill on the Senate floor.

“States like Arizona shouldn't be prosecuted for protecting their citizens when the federal government fails to do so,” said Senator DeMint. “The federal government is rewarding illegal behavior and encouraging many more to enter our nation illegally when they refuse to enforce our laws. States along the border are facing kidnappings, drug trafficking, human trafficking and gang violence and they have a duty to keep their residents safe. Instead of suing states for doing his job, the President should get serious and stop holding border security hostage to pass amnesty and score points with his liberal base.”

“The state of Arizona is simply taking responsibility for a problem that the federal government has neglected for years, but Washington’s only response is to oppose these new enforcement efforts and take them to court. The Obama administration should not use taxpayers’ money to pay for these lawsuits that the American people overwhelmingly oppose,” said Senator Vitter.

Arizona’s new law, SB 1070, grants state law enforcement officials the authority to enforce federal immigration laws by allowing them to inquire about immigration status of individuals who are lawfully stopped for other crimes. The law explicitly forbids racial profiling. As many as 18 states are considering similar laws, as reported by the Associated Press, including: Florida, South Carolina, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Michigan. ###

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Open Letter to President Obama FULL TEXT

PDF U.S. Chamber of Commerce Open Letter to the PresidentJobs for America: An Open Letter to the President of the United States, the United States Congress, and the American People

Washington has taken its eyes off the ball by neglecting America's number one priority--creating the more than 20 million jobs we need over the next 10 years to reemploy the unemployed and to keep pace with a growing population.
Now is the time to get back on track. In order to forestall another economic downturn and create jobs, we must work together constructively to ease uncertainty, unleash private sector investment, and generate real economic growth. We must do the following to succeed:

» Create a Growth and Jobs Tax Policy
» Restore Fiscal Health
» Expand Trade and Export-Driven Jobs
» Rebuild and Expand America’s Infrastructure
» Reduce the Burden of Regulatory Uncertainty

The business community shares the view of most Americans that the current approaches are not working. We are offering an achievable road map to greater economic growth and more jobs, and we don’t care who gets the credit. We invite leaders in government and citizens across the nation to support it.

David Vitter supports conservative organizations challenging President Barack Obama's citizenship in court VIDEO

Interesting question, answer amd crowd response.

Sen. David Vitter, speaking at a townhall meeting in Metairie, La, is shown here in an exlusive video saying that he supports conservative organizations challenging President Barack Obama's citizenship in court.

Vitter made these remarks answering a question about Obama's refusal to produce a valid birth certificate. This controversy has developed because instead of a true birth certificate Obama has only posted a "certification of live birth", which under Hawaiian procedures could be obtained from out of state.

Vitter responded that although he does not have legal standing to bring forward a lawsuit, he supports "conservative legal organization and others who would bring that to court."

Sarah Palin Endorses Karen Handel for Governor VIDEO

Former Governor of Alaska and Republican nominee for Vice-President Sarah Palin today endorsed Karen Handel for Governor. She issued the following statement…

"I'm proud to lend my support to a great commonsense conservative woman running for Governor this year in the Peach State. My recent visit back to this beautiful area allowed me to meet more of the patriotic Americans who call Georgia home and who are ready for a reformer to help strengthen their families, businesses, state and, ultimately, our United States.

Karen Handel is that reformer. Throughout her career in public office – from serving as Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners to Georgia's Secretary of State – Karen has brought the common sense fiscal discipline and positive change in government that is needed now more than ever.

Though considered an underdog candidate (more power to her!), this pro-life, pro-Constitutionalist with a can-do attitude and a record of fighting for ethics in government is ready to serve in the Governor's Office. She'll balance budgets and help spur Georgia's economy. Her plan will contribute to America's roadmap which can benefit all of us.

Please join me in supporting this good conservative reformer who will work tirelessly for the Peach State. You can visit Karen Handel's website at www.karenhandel.com and follow her on Facebook and Twitter."

- Sarah Palin

Karen said, "I am humbled and truly excited to receive the endorsement of Governor Sarah Palin," Handel said. "She is a true Republican leader and conservative reformer who isn't afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right. I am proud to have the Governor's support and I know it will have a tremendous impact on our campaign."

The momentum for Karen's campaign is growing daily, and we are locked in a battle for first place in the primary. Help us spread Karen's conservative message for Georgia by making a donation today. Any amount you can afford will help.

Thank you for your support of Karen.

Pat Toomey Joe Sestak Bailout Joe – A Trip Down Memory Lane VIDEO

Allentown, PA – In its latest video, the Toomey campaign offers the media a glimpse inside Bailout Joe’s very own scrapbook, detailing his numerous bailout votes and the $54,000 he has taken from all the banks and mortgage companies he voted to bail out.

Bailout Joe voted for every single taxpayer-funded bailout offered on the floor of the House of Representatives:

- The Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailout (RC #519, 07/23/08)
- The first Wall Street bailout (RC #681, 10/03/08)
- The bailout of the auto companies (RC #690, 12/10/08)
- The second Wall Street bailout (RC #27, 01/22/09)

It should come as no surprise that Bailout Joe has also taken $54,016 from the entities he voted to bailout and $25,000 from the United Auto Workers, one of the happy beneficiaries of the taxpayer-funded auto bailout (opensecrets.org).

“So, Congressman Joe Sestak voted to send billions in tax dollars to AIG, Fannie Mae, and Bank of America, and they returned the favor with thousands in campaign contributions,” Toomey Communications Director Nachama Soloveichik said. “Nice deal for Joe, bad deal for Pennsylvania taxpayers.”

“It’s clear that Congressman Sestak will stand with irresponsible corporations over Pennsylvania taxpayers every time. In contrast Pat Toomey opposed every bailout every time. Pat believes it is fundamentally unfair to force taxpayers to bail out companies when they take risks and act irresponsibly.”
