Charles K. Djou endorsed by local small businesses VIDEO

Honolulu, HI - Congressman Charles K. Djou was joined by local small business owners today to discuss the importance of changing the direction of the current Congress.

Congressman Djou issued the following statement:

"I visit a local business nearly every day and hear a common refrain: businesses, especially small businesses, need certainty that the new year will not bring with it more taxes and regulations that will stifle local job creation.

"I am honored to have been endorsed by organizations such as the National Federation of Independent Businesses and Trust in Small Business. But far more important is the support I have received from local small businesses - because they know I will fight for fiscal responsibility and tax relief that will stimulate economic growth and create jobs."

Congressman Djou was joined by local small business owners today who have endorsed his campaign, including Jack Schneider of JS Services, Debi Halcro of Valenti Print Group, Ted English of The UPS Store, Don Dawson of the Dawson Group, Eliza Talbot of NFIB Hawaii, Harvey King of King and Neel and Marsha Anderson of Surf Prep. These entrepreneurs described their concerns of runaway federal spending and uncertainty surrounding the tax code and regulatory structure.

Anna Little Why Is Frank Pallone's Web Site Silent On Obama (Pallone) Care?

Anna C. Little(HIGHLANDS, October 28) - Republican Congressional challenger Anna Little today maintained her campaign's focus on Frank Pallone's recent silence on his role in the passage of the government takeover of health care, frequently referred to in New Jersey's 6th Congressional District as "PalloneCare."
"Back in the spring, when he thought it was going to be popular, my opponent infamously said of the government takeover of health care, 'This is not Obama's bill. This isn't Nancy Pelosi's bill. This is MY bill,'" said Little. "But now that the public has learned more about what's in it, and it's not nearly as popular as he thought it was going to be, he's gone radio silent - why, his campaign web site's 'On the Issues' section doesn't even MENTION health care!"

"Sadly, this is not surprising," said Little. "All we've heard from Frank Pallone is distortions of my views, rather than an explanation for the votes he cast for a failed trillion-dollar stimulus package, a failed cap and trade policy that would raise everyone's electricity bills, and the government takeover of health care.

"Of course, it's perfectly understandable - if I had cast a vote to cut Medicare by $500 billion, reduce patient choice, put government bureaucrats between doctors and their patients, and raise taxes, I probably wouldn't want to draw attention to it, either.

"But that's the big difference between Frank Pallone and me - I would never have cast that vote in the first place!

"In five days, New Jersey will vote, and we'll have a chance to send a fresh face to Washington," said Little.

"If you think we're headed in the right direction, then Frank Pallone is your man," said Little. "But if you think we're moving in the wrong direction, if you think you're ready for a change, then I need your vote - because you cannot change Washington without changing the people we send to Washington!"

New Angle Ad: The Wave: Sharron Angle ad that ignited Joy Behar on "The View" The Wave VIDEO

Today, the Sharron Angle campaign released a new television ad entitled, “The Wave.” The new ad details Harry Reid’s support for providing illegal immigrants with Social Security benefits, tax breaks and college tuition while fighting to stop Arizona’s illegal immigration law and voting against making English our national language. Reid’s failed policies illustrate his failed leadership resulting in the highest unemployment rate in the nation.

“Harry Reid’s history of supporting benefits for illegal immigrants shows how out-of-touch he is with the people of Nevada,” said Jerry Stacy, Press Secretary for Sharron Angle. “With incentivizing illegal behavior while millions of Nevadans suffer under this economic crisis, Nevadans can no longer afford another failed Reid term.”

Senators Amy Koch & Michelle Fischbach Call on Mark Dayton to Denounce DFL Party`s Anti-Catholic Mailings

St. Paul- Senators Amy Koch and Senator Michelle Fischbach today called on Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton to denounce a series of deeply offensive (/mail_piece_2.pdf) and inflammatory (/stainedglassmailing.pdf) anti-Catholic mailings sent by the Minnesota DFL Party.

“These deeply offensive anti-Catholic mailings from the DFL Party have absolutely no place in our state. As the standard bear of his party and DFL nominee for governor, Mark Dayton must denounce these unconscionable smears and tell his Party that they have gone too far. For Dayton’s Party to suggest that the Catholic Church has been ignoring the poor is the most irresponsible and deplorable attack I have ever seen during my time in public service,” said Senator Amy Koch (R-Buffalo).

“Mark Dayton’s family members have donated $900,000 to the DFL Party during this campaign to fund political attacks, making them among the largest single funding sources in this election cycle. As the leader of his party in this election and in light of his family’s major role in financing the DFL party, Mark Dayton has a special moral obligation to speak out on this matter. These hurtful mailings from the DFL Party are absolutely outrageous and Mark Dayton should be ashamed of his Party. Attacking religious groups is never acceptable in any way, shape, or form. Mark Dayton must make certain that his Party immediately ceases these attacks against Minnesotans of faith and he must apologize on behalf of his Party. Dayton’s continued silence on this matter is completely unacceptable,” said Senator Michelle Fischbach (R- Paynesville).

Grim Diagnosis – A check-up on the federal health law John Barrasso

John BarrassoDrs. Coburn and Barrasso Release New Health Care Report Consequences of “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” Worse than Anticipated.

U.S. Senators and doctors Tom Coburn (R-OK) and John Barrasso (R-WY) today released a new report “Grim Diagnosis – A check-up on the federal health law.” PDF.
The report details how many of the consequences of the new law are worse than anticipated. The Senate physicians’ report, issued roughly 200-days after the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March, comes after their previous oversight report, Bad Medicine PDF, that marked the first 100-days of the law’s enactment. As physician-legislators, Drs. Coburn and Barrasso will continue their responsibilities to monitor the law’s impact on all Americans.

“Unfortunately, the overhaul that passed Congress this spring did not represent the real health reform Americans want and need. The new law focused on some of the symptoms in our health care system, but failed to address the underlying disease. For a majority of Americans, the cost of health coverage is their primary concern. For too many, cost is the access problem. Unfortunately, the new law increases costs to patients, consumers, and taxpayers, while exacerbating many existing problems in health care,” Coburn and Barrasso write in the report.

“This report presents the American people with a second opinion on the economic and financial impacts of the new health care law. Americans have a right to know how their health care, jobs, and financial stability will be impacted by the new law. The health overhaul threatens our nation’s economic recovery, increases costs, and reduces job growth.”

“As practicing physicians, we are committed to real health care reform. Costs are too high. Choices are too few. Health coverage remains out of reach for too many Americans. Interference from government bureaucrats and insurance companies is too constant and pervasive. We believe real reform begins with replacing the new law with sensible provisions that will lower costs, increase patient control, reduce bureaucracy and government interference, and put affordable, high quality health coverage within the reach of every American.”

The report includes the following key findings:

• Eight in ten small businesses could lose their current health plans according to regulations published by the Administration.
• The law will kill 800,000 jobs, perhaps even many more.
• States face huge mandates ranging in the hundreds of billions of dollars – costs much greater than the supposed deficit reduction.
• Real income will be depressed for millions of Americans because of the law.
• Uncompensated care costs from care in ER could become much worse.
• Taxpayers could be faced to bailout a new program created in the health overhaul that even supporters call a "Ponzi scheme."
• New penalties and costs discourage the hiring of young Americans who already face the worst job market in a generation.
• The law could cause the deficit to balloon by more than half a trillion dollars over the coming decade.
• Even with the new law, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that “rapidly rising health care costs will sharply increase federal spending for health care programs.”
• The Medicare Trustees’ have said the nearly $530 billion in cuts to the Medicare program proposed by the new law “will not be viable.” In other words, the law’s supposed savings are based on phony accounting. ###

Rand Paul Jack Conway Kentucky Senate Debate 10/25/10 VIDEO

Dr. Rand Paul and FamilyRand Paul Jack Conway Kentucky Senate Debate 10/25/10 VIDEO FULL STREAMING VIDEO.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- At a news conference today in Lexington, Dr. Rand Paul announced that he would attend the final scheduled debate between he and his opponent Jack Conway, despite the shameful political attack ad released by Conway earlier in the week attacking Paul’s religious beliefs.
Below are Dr. Paul’s remarks:

I continue to be astounded that Jack Conway thinks it is appropriate to attack my pro-life Christian faith and by inference my family. To date, he has refused to apologize for his abhorrent behavior and that is a shame.

For the past week, Republicans and Democrats across the nation have condemned my opponent’s ad as “despicable,” “odious,” and “dangerous.”

Throughout the last year and a half, dozens of people have brought personally damaging information to us about my opponent and his family. My instructions to my staff, “We won’t go there.”

Do I want a pat on the back for this? No. But would I like to raise the debate to a higher plane? Yes.

For that reason, while I do not respect Mr. Conway’s inappropriate attacks, I do respect the voters of this state and therefore will participate in Monday’s final debate.

Kentuckians deserve another opportunity to understand the very real differences between Jack and myself.

With ten days to go, I wish the campaign were about who has the best vision for Kentucky and America. We face a serious debt crisis in this country and I want to be part of finding the solution. I don’t think the debate is advanced by personal invective and slander.

As the campaign comes to a close, I will continue to talk about the main issues of the day: an unsustainable debt, the federal takeover of healthcare, the President’s desire to raise taxes in a recession, and the President’s policies that are destroying coal related jobs.

I ask my opponent to do likewise, to aspire to statesmanship, to seek a higher plane for the betterment of our citizenry and cast aside the politics of personal destruction that diminish us all.

Momentum on Buck’s Side with Only 10 Days until Election Day

Bucks Highlights Jobs, Spending in Last U.S. Senate Debate
DENVER—Momentum is on the side of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ken Buck’s side after the CBS 4 debate, the final debate before the Nov. 2, election.

Buck provided a convincing closing argument, focused on his plans to create jobs and reign in Washington’s spending.

The debate comes only a day after the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment announced that Colorado lost jobs for the eleventh consecutive month, bringing Colorado’s unemployment to 8.2 percent.

“For months now, Michael Bennet has tried to run away from his record as a rubberstamp for Obama’s big spending,” said Ken Buck after the debate. “The hundreds-of-thousands of Coloradans who are unemployed aren’t buying it. They know that Bennet’s votes have hurt our economy, small businesses and cost Americans jobs.”

The biggest surprise of the evening happened when Bennet argued that government “there is some certainty out there” for small businesses, highlighting Obamacare as a key that gives us certainty.

“Michael Bennet has spent too much time with the lobbyists and special interests in Washington,” added Buck. “If Bennet would have listened to the vast majority of Coloradans, he would have opposed this bill, and the corruption that pushed it through Washington.”

During the Reality Check segment of the debate, Bennet implied that reporter Shaun Boyd of not telling the truth when it came to his misleading attack ads. Boyd pointed out that Bennet’s ads accusing Buck of wanting to privatize Social Security and abolish student loans were false. ###

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Barbara Boxer Bad with Money VIDEO

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today launched the television ad “Bad with Money” in Los Angeles to highlight Senator Barbara Boxer’s 28-year record of reckless spending and anti-business policies.

The ad reminds Californians that Boxer has helped bankrupt the American treasury and throw Californians out of work by raising taxes, adding trillions to the national debt, and voting to cut back water to California farms and communities.

“Barbara Boxer has been recklessly mortgaging America’s future by adding trillions to the deficit and our tax burden,” said Bill Miller, national political director for the Chamber. “After nearly three decades as a Washington politician, there appears to be no limit to Boxer's eagerness to tax and spend.”

The ad is part of a Chamber television blitz that also includes ads in Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield highlighting Boxer’s lack of leadership on critical water issues facing California.

“As if her fiscal irresponsibility were not enough, Boxer also voted to cut back water to the Central Valley, shutting down farms and small businesses and helping to drive some Valley unemployment rates as high as 40 percent,” Miller said.

Analysis of LA Times Meg Whitman Jerry Brown Poll

Meg Whitman Jerry Brown PollJust like their poll earlier this fall, today's Los Angeles Times poll, conducted by a Democrat polling firm, assumes a completely irrational turnout mix. Additionally, it's aged. That's fine for cheese and wine, but not polls.
The Times poll obliterates the model from the last mid-term election and skews significantly toward a Democrat wave-like '08 turnout model. Specifically, The Times is assuming a +5% Democrat tilt over the '06 mid-term turnout. Obviously any rational observer and pollster would find that ignorant of what is occurring with the electorate.

Additionally, The Times poll was in the field from 10/13-18; before a discernable Whitman uptick in other polls. In other words, it's old, statistically flawed, and in no way a current snapshot of the race.

"Statistically, given the clear average of multiple public and private polls fielded in a similar time frame, The LA Times poll should be categorized as an outlier poll and can be dismissed as simply inaccurate," said Whitman pollster John McLaughlin. Dr. David Hill, also a Whitman campaign pollster, agreed with that assessment.

We are certain this race is extremely close, and we are confident of our position to close this campaign with a historic result a week from Tuesday that will give California its first woman governor.

RUDY GIULIANI ENDORSES RANDY ALTSCHULER FOR CONGRESS

Giuliani: "Altschuler is Uniquely Qualified to Represent Suffolk County"

Randy Altschuler, the independent, self-made businessman and Republican/Conservative candidate for Congress (NY-1), was endorsed today by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani, who became known as "America's Mayor" after leading the city through the terrorist attacks of 9/11, called Altschuler "a fiscal conservative who knows what it will take to jump start the economy and create jobs for the people of Suffolk County and the nation."

Rudy Giuliani said, "Randy Altschuler is the perfect example of the type of individual we need serving in Congress. He's a successful self-made businessman, not a career politician. He has built two companies from the ground up and created over 700 jobs for hardworking Americans, 250 of them right here in New York. Randy Altschuler is a fiscal conservative who knows what it will take to jump start the economy and create jobs for Suffolk County and the nation. In Congress, he will vote to cut taxes, rein in runaway spending, and shrink an ever growing deficit that is mortgaging the future of generations to come.

Randy Altschuler"Randy Altschuler also understands that terrorism remains a constant threat and I know that in Congress, he will work closely with Congressman Peter King of Nassau County to ensure that Long Island and New York have the resources they need for Homeland Security, local law enforcement and the first responders who work to protect us on a daily basis.
"Randy Altschuler is uniquely qualified to represent Suffolk County in Congress and I urge Republicans, Independents and like minded Democrats to vote for him on Election Day."

Randy Altschuler said, "As Mayor, Rudy Giuliani restored fiscal sanity to New York City; cutting wasteful spending and making sure that city government operated like a business. That's the exact same job I plan to do in Congress. I will work to create common sense solutions for complex problems and in the process cut taxes, spending and work to shrink an ever ballooning deficit. I would like to thank Mayor Giuliani for his endorsement and his kind words and let him know, that like him, I will always be a fighter for my constituents in Suffolk County and the people of New York State." # # #

Pat Toomey Joe Sestak Pennsylvania Senate 2d Debate 10/22/10 VIDEO

Pat ToomeyPat Toomey Joe Sestak Pennsylvania Senate 2d Debate 10/22/10 FULL STREAMING VIDEO

Allentown, PA – U.S. Senate candidate and former small business owner, Pat Toomey, emerged as the clear choice for Pennsylvania voters after the second and final debate tonight with Congressman Joe Sestak. The debate was held in the studios of WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, PA..
Pat was the only candidate who demonstrated an understanding of how to create jobs for Pennsylvanians and the only candidate who can point to examples in his own record of taking on the establishment in Washington to reduce the deficit, cut taxes, and fight for fiscal responsibility.

In contrast, Congressman Joe Sestak continued to spout the same tired falsehoods and distortions about Pat Toomey in an attempt to run away from his record of massive deficit spending. Ultimately, Congressman Sestak thinks that the way to create jobs is to raise taxes and vote 100% in lock-step with Nancy Pelosi and the far-left extreme of the Democratic Party. It's that same failed ideology that has led to record deficits, record debt, and taxpayer-funded bailouts.

“Pat Toomey wins tonight’s debate hands down,” said Toomey Campaign Manager Mark Harris. “Joe Sestak wants Pennsylvania voters to ignore his record, but tonight, voters saw just how extreme Congressman Sestak is. Over the past four years in Washington, Sestak voted for bailout after bailout, a failed 'stimulus', a cap-and-trade energy tax, government-run health care, and record debt – and his only criticism is that these massive bills did not go far enough!”

“Federal Pay Gap” Exposing Vast Gap In Salary And Benefits VIDEO

The organization RightChange, Inc., reveals to the American voter the huge gap of salaries and benefits between the average government and private sector employees with the release of their brand new video “Federal Pay Gap.”

Washington, D.C. – The organization RightChange, Inc., reveals to the American voter the huge gap of salaries and benefits between the average government and private sector employees with the release of their brand new video “Federal Pay Gap.” ”Federal Pay Gap” can be viewed at http://www.rightchange.com/. “

RightChange’s “Federal Pay Gap” is a motion-graphic style video that uses a familiar “Minute to Win It” meets a heart attack game show approach, challenging the viewer to watch nine levels of outrage including how easy it is to stay on the government payroll and how much the Obama Administration and congress have grown the government, all leading up to the kicker: the amount government workers owe in back taxes. “Federal Pay Gap” is a different twist from other videos RightChange has produced in the past like the successful “Attack of the 50ft Pelosi” ad produced for the PA-12 special election and now released for a barrage of congressional and senate races.

The video is timely given the recent news to the American public that the recession was over last year in July, yet unemployment is at over 9.6% for the private sector while government sectors are barely 2.9% as the video points out. RightChange.com provides a great resource for voter registration, along with cutting edge video content on the topics of the day with edgy humor and using politicians’ own words. Senator John Thune Weekly Republican Address TEXT VIDEO 10/23/10

Hello, I’m Senator John Thune of South Dakota. As you’ve probably noticed, we have an election coming up in a little over a week.

President Obama has been running around the country trying to reelect Democrat members of Congress.
Senator John ThuneBut if the conversations I’ve had with voters are any indication, the president should spend less time campaigning to save the jobs of Democrats in Congress, and more time trying to create jobs for the American people.
All across South Dakota and the country, I've heard from people who aren’t fooled by President Obama's well-written speeches. They have serious concerns about our economy, and they are all too familiar with the Administration’s failed policies.

One of the Democrats' main responsibilities over the past two years was to improve the economy. Instead, they decided to try an experiment to grow government, raise taxes, and take over health care. After two years, the American people are left asking, ‘Why have the Democrats’ priorities been so different from ours?’

The Obama Experiment has failed.

When the president and his Democrat allies in Congress pushed through their $814 billion stimulus bill, they promised it would create millions of jobs, and keep unemployment under eight percent. But their approach didn’t work, and they failed to deliver on their promises.

Unemployment has climbed to nearly 10 percent. Rather than create jobs, the Democrats expanded government, and now the American people are stuck with another bill for nearly a trillion dollars.

When the president was introducing his big government health care plan, he promised to reduce every family’s health insurance premiums by as much as $2,500. But premiums keep going up. Families in some states are seeing increases in the double digits. Here again, Democrats promised but didn’t deliver, and the American people are stuck with rising health care costs and another tab; this one for two-and-a-half trillion dollars.

The Democrats have controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress for nearly two years, and have proven that more government is not the answer. This year they were not even capable of passing a budget. Instead, they spent their time passing more and more burdensome regulations, like their so-called Financial Reform bill that failed to address the main cause of our economic mess.

Despite a dangerously high national debt that is closing in on $14 trillion, the president wants to spend even more money on these kinds of failed policies. And he appears intent on raising taxes to do it.

Giving Democrats more opportunities to manage the economy and spend taxpayer dollars will not give us the economic growth that we need. It will only lead to more growth of government bureaucracy, and to national bankruptcy.

There is a reason unemployment is stuck near ten percent.

There is a reason jobs are not being created.

There is a reason too many Americans who want a job can’t find one.

There is a reason the dollar is weak and our economy is not growing as it should.

The reason is that President Obama and Congressional Democrats have led this country in the wrong direction.

Government cannot be openly hostile to American businesses, and expect them to grow and create jobs.

Government cannot raise taxes during tough economic times, and expect small businesses to grow and create jobs.

A new direction is needed.

The president likes to say that when you want to drive forward you put your car in D, and when you want to go in reverse you put it in R. It’s a clever line, but when you’re speeding toward a cliff, you don’t want to keep the car in drive.

Republicans want to reverse the dangerous course the Democrats have us on.

Republicans want to reverse Democrats’ plan to raise taxes on the 750,000 small businesses in this country that employ 25 percent of all workers. So employers have more money to create new jobs.

Republicans support policies that will grow the economy, not the government.

Republicans want to repeal the flawed health care law that has been rejected by the American public, and replace it with a new plan that actually reduces costs. We want to reverse the uncertainty in the marketplace so that small businesses have the confidence to grow and invest and create jobs.

And Republicans want to reverse this nonsense of government bailouts and takeovers of private businesses.

Republicans have proposed real, concrete solutions to the challenges we face as a country.

We have learned the lessons not only of what hasn’t worked over the past two years, but what didn’t work the last time Republicans controlled Congress. Republicans are listening to the frustration being expressed by Americans all across this country, and we are determined to take this country in the right direction.

The choice could not be more clear. Democrats are driving more of the same failed policies they have pushed for the past two years. Republicans are proposing to take this country in a different direction.

So I would like to suggest a simple question people should ask themselves to help cut through all the talk: Are you better off today than you were two years ago? I’m Senator John Thune. Thank you for listening. ####

Sharron Angle Welcome to Nevada, Mr. President VIDEO

Statement From Sharron Angle Regarding Nevada's Recent Unemployment Numbers 10/22/2010

"Welcome to Nevada, Mr. President. It's good that you're here to see first-hand what your and Harry's 'recovery' has done to our state. We have 14.4% unemployment and the highest foreclosure rate in the nation. You and Harry together have destroyed the Nevada economy.

"There will be a time when the American people hold you accountable for what you have done to them, but you're not on the ballot this year—Harry Reid is. In eleven days, we’ll start a real recovery when he's fired and your agenda comes to a screeching halt once and for all." # # #

Sharron Angle how Harry Reid became so wealthy on a public servant's income VIDEO

Today, the Sharron Angle campaign released a new television ad entitled, "Public Servant." The new ad details how Harry Reid became so wealthy on a public servant's income. From a shady land deal that netted him one million dollars to living in a Ritz Carlton condo in Washington, DC, Harry Reid is now worth up to six million as Nevadans continue to suffer under the worst unemployment rate in the nation.

"Sharron Angle raised a great question in last week's debate: How did a 'public servant' like Reid make enough to become a millionaire living in the Ritz Carlton? Nevadans will no longer stand for this kind of corruption while people here in the state suffer," said Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy. "Harry Reid has consistently put his own wallet ahead of the interests of this state. It's time for a real leader who will fight for us: that's Sharron Angle."

CAGW ROLLS OUT AD CAMPAIGN ON THE NATIONAL DEBT

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) unveiled a national ad campaign addressing our country’s spending addiction, the dangers of relentless deficits, and the corrosive nature of our national debt.

This new ad, which features a chilling look at one potential future scenario if we continue on our current destructive fiscal trajectory, is a 2010 homage to a 1986 ad that was produced by W.R. Grace & Co. called “The Deficit Trials.” For those who were able to view it it was a sensation. However, it was considered so alarming that the major networks refused to run it and CBS News anchor Dan Rather did a story about the controversy. The national debt was $2 trillion in 1986 when “The Deficit Trials” ad was denied broadcast time; today the debt stands at $13.7 trillion, and is projected to reach 140 percent of GDP in two decades, the time in which the new CAGW ad is set.

The group plans to run the ad on major cable networks throughout the rest of 2010 and into 2011.

J. Peter Grace, CAGW’s co-founder and the chairman of the Grace Commission, was committed to sounding the alarm about what the debt would do to future generations. “We believe the ad does justice to Peter Grace’s legacy and CAGW plans to produce additional ads addressing this critical issue over the next several years,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz.

The new ad is part of an ongoing communications program in CAGW’s decades-long fight against wasteful government spending, increased taxes, out-of-control deficit spending, and a crippling national debt that threatens the future and survival of our country.

In the prescient words of J. Peter Grace, “‘we’re mortgaging our children’s future…we’re robbing piggy banks, we’re taxing our defenseless children without representation. … It’s unforgivable.’”

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – In response to today’s Leadership Florida gubernatorial debate Joe Kildea, spokesperson for Rick Scott for Florida, released the following statement:
“Rick Scott was the clear winner of tonight’s debate. He presented a vision for turning Florida around and a specific plan to create 700,000 private sector jobs. CFO and former banker Alex Sink failed to present a clear path to restore jobs and repeated false and negative attacks. The people of Florida are looking for an outsider with business experience and a plan to create private-sector jobs, not a shrill Obama liberal with job-killing policies who recklessly hands-out waivers to criminals to access private and personal information.

From Party Mantra To National Rallying Cry, “Where Are The Jobs?” VIDEO

GOP Leader’s New Web Video Kicks Off Weeklong Effort To Highlight Dems’ Job-Killing Policies, Press For Immediate Enactment Of Pledge To America

Washington: House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today released a new web video that highlights the evolution of “where are the jobs?” from party mantra to “the single most important question” Americans are concerned about.

It has now been 20 months since President Obama signed the ‘stimulus’ into law amid promises it would create jobs ‘immediately’ and keep unemployment below eight percent. Since then, millions more Americans have lost their jobs and unemployment has topped 9.5 percent for 14 months in a row, the longest such stretch since the Great Depression. This video shows how Republicans have successfully made ‘where are the jobs?’ part of the national lexicon and turned it into a potent weapon against out-of-touch Washington Democrats on the most important issue Americans are concerned about.

Boehner said upon the video’s release: “The American people are asking ‘where are the jobs?,’ and as this video shows, Washington Democrats still have no answers. With the Pledge to America, Republicans are offering a new and better way to address the people’s priorities, starting with a plan to create jobs and end economic uncertainty.”

The video kicks off a weeklong effort by Republicans to ask the question Americans are asking – where are the jobs? – and further highlight Washington Democrats’ job-killing policies. Republicans will also continue to press for immediate enactment of the Pledge to America, a governing agenda that offers a new and better way to address the people’s priorities, starting with a clear plan to create jobs and end economic uncertainty.

SCRIPT: “WHERE ARE THE JOBS?,” FROM PARTY MANTRA TO NATIONAL RALLYING CRY

FOX’S NEIL CAVUTO: “…Where are the jobs?”

GRAPHIC: “Unemployment: 9.6 percent”

CBS’ KATIE COURIC: “…unemployment still so high, where are the jobs?”

GRAPHIC: “14.8 million Americans unemployed”

NBC’S DAVID GREGORY: “But where are the jobs?”

GRAPHIC: “2.5 million jobs lost since the ‘stimulus’ was signed into law.”

NBC’S MATT LAUER: “Do you get any question more often than, ‘where are the jobs?’”

CNBC’S MARIA BARTIROMO: “No. That is the single most important question right now.”

Meg Whitman Jerry Brown tied in California RGA Poll Shows Dead Heat: 46-46

The Republican Governors Association released the findings from an internal poll today on the California governor’s race. In no state has the public polling been more incongruent with internal findings than in California over the past two months. According to the RGA’s latest poll, the race is tied 46-46.

“This race will go down to the wire, and it’s important that California voters know the truth about how close this race is,” said RGA spokesman Chris Schrimpf. “Despite the Democratic leanings of the state the race is neck and neck. We are confident Californians will ultimately decide they cannot afford to hire someone for the state’s top job who has pushed higher taxes and so grossly mismanaged the budget. This election is about moving in a new direction.”

“When he was governor three decades ago, Jerry Brown sought to hike taxes by $7 billion and turned a $4 billion surplus into a $1 billion deficit,” Schrimpf said. “Meg Whitman is the only candidate who will bring fresh ideas and solve the state’s most pressing challenges.”

Key findings of the poll can be found below.

Republican Governors Association uses Ted Strickland’s own words to measure his failures

The Republican Governors Association announced today it has released a new television advertisement that uses Ted Strickland’s own words to measure his failures. When he campaigned for governor in 2006 Ted Strickland promised to turn around Ohio to save and create jobs. Since 2006, Ohio has lost nearly 400,000 jobs.

“Ted Strickland is turning Ohio around and around and around, in circles,” said RGA spokesman Chris Schrimpf. “For the four years of Ted Strickland’s administration Ohio has been spinning its wheels while the state has been losing hundreds of thousands of jobs. Four years ago Strickland said things can’t continue the way they are. He’s right. Strickland’s time is up.”

The ad can be viewed at www.TimesUpTed.com where visitors can also download the Official “Time’s Up, Ted Countdown Clock” that they can install on their own website or blog.

Text transcript of the ad is below.

“Our Turnaround Ohio Plan has two aims. First of all, we’re going to keep the jobs we have by investing in our strengths, and we’re going to create the jobs of the future.”

Governor Strickland, four years ago you said you’d rescue the state’s economy, but we’ve lost 400,000 jobs.

Why would we think the next four years would be any different?

“We all know things can’t continue the way they are.”
You’re right, Governor. Broken promises, lost jobs. Time’s up, Ted.

Kristi Noem, I oppose raising taxes on South Dakota families and small business owners VIDEO

Kristi supports repealing the unfair death tax. Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin doesn't think we can "afford it."

Herseth Sandlin Admits to Supporting Tax Increases While Noem Opposes Higher Taxes.

SIOUX FALLS – Kristi Noem, candidate for South Dakota’s lone congressional seat today, reiterated her opposition to tax increases while Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin showed her true colors 14 days out from the election and admitted to supporting higher taxes on South Dakota families, small businesses and seniors.
The Noem campaign also released a video showing the clear difference between the candidates on the issue of the death tax.

“I have consistently said I oppose raising taxes on South Dakota families and small business owners during this economic downturn. The small business owners I speak with on the campaign trail tell me they need certainty when it comes to tax and regulatory policy. Now isn’t the time for higher taxes and more regulation,” said Noem.

In an October 18, 2010 interview with the Rapid City Journal, Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin admitted to supporting tax increases on South Dakota families and small businesses.

“While Noem supports making all the Bush-era tax cuts permanent, Herseth Sandlin prefers letting the tax cuts for individuals earning more than $250,000 a year expire after a one- or two-year extension. Noem supports ending the estate tax permanently; Herseth Sandlin said that would be too expensive.”

Congresswoman Herseth Sandlin also divulged that she would be open to higher taxes on South Dakota seniors dependent on Social Security.

“While Noem ruled out any tax increases for entitlements, Herseth Sandlin said she was open to considering a change in the Social Security tax, such as making high-income individuals contribute more to Social Security.”

Allentown, PA – Tonight, as U.S. Senate candidates Pat Toomey and Joe Sestak debate in Philadelphia, we can expect to hear many of the same tired distortions and falsehoods from Congressman Sestak – many of which have already been debunked and labeled false by independent and nonpartisan entities.

In the interest of efficiency, let’s just put these falsehoods to bed right now.

Joe Sestak’s Top Ten Whoppers

1. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey is a Wall Street Lobbyist.

TRUTH: WTAE-TV News declared: “That’s false. Toomey has never been a lobbyist. We checked the records. Toomey is not now, and never was a registered lobbyist.” (WTAE ABC, 09/23/10)

2. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey pioneered the derivatives that caused the financial crisis.

TRUTH: FactCheck.Org declared this accusation to be “false,” writing: “Toomey was not dealing in the kind of derivatives that caused the economic crisis.” (Annenberg Political FactCheck Website, 08/17/10)

3. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey was not a real small business owner.

TRUTH: Many individuals who have worked with Pat Toomey during his years as a small business owner between 1991 – 1998 have testified to Pat’s daily involvement in the business. During that time, the restaurant business Pat Toomey owned and ran with his brothers was his sole source of income and the business created hundreds of jobs in the Lehigh Valley.

4. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey wants to put Social Security at risk by putting it in the stock market.

TRUTH: In Congress, Pat Toomey fought to protect Social Security, sponsoring many pieces of legislation to make sure that big spenders in Washington cannot spend Social Security funds, including the Social Security Protection Act of 2002 (HR 3981). In contrast, Joe Sestak has never sponsored or cosponsored legislation to protect Social Security and has voted for trillions of dollars in deficit spending that is threatening the solvency of Social Security.

5. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey voted to throw pay-as-you-go out the window.

TRUTH: Pat Toomey voted for a much stricter version of PayGo than Joe Sestak’s version. Pat voted for the Spending Control act of 2004 which set statutory caps on discretionary spending and instituted pay-as-you-go rules that would require mandatory spending increases to be offset (RC #318, 06/24/04). Congressman Sestak voted against a cap on discretionary spending (RC #611, 07/22/09) and voted for over $1 trillion in PayGo exemptions and waivers.

6. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey voted for the largest deficit in our history.

TRUTH: Over his four years in Congress, Joe Sestak voted for $3.3 trillion in new deficit spending. In contrast the cumulative budget deficit over Pat Toomey’s six years in Congress from 1999 – 2005 was $456 billion.

7. FALSEHOOD: Pat Toomey wrote the law to take the referee off the football field and deregulate Wall Street.

TRUTH: FactCheck.Org and President Clinton (who signed Gramm-Leach-Bliley) into law have already said that “The truth is, however, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act had little if anything to do with the current crisis. In fact, economists on both sides of the political spectrum have suggested that the act has probably made the crisis less severe than it might otherwise have been.” (Annenberg Political FactCheck Website, “Who Caused the Economic Crisis,” 10/01/08) (Business Week, 09/24/09)

8. FALSEHOOD: It made Joe Sestak “sick” to vote for the bailouts.

TRUTH: Right after Congressman Sestak voted to bail out Wall Street (Roll Call #681, 10/03/08), he declared: “I really strongly felt this was the most consequential vote I have taken these two years. And our nation, my constituents, who won’t be able to get affordable loans, whose savings are going to go down, small businesses are going to get loans, unemployment rises—this was a vote for them really” (The Comcast Network, 9/30/08). He then voted to release the second half of the Wall Street bailout funds even though 99 Democrats opposed it (RC #27, 01/22/09) and opposed a bipartisan effort to end TARP after one year (Press Release, 09/26/10).

9. FALSEHOOD: Joe Sestak supports small businesses, while Pat Toomey supports large corporations.

TRUTH: Congressman Sestak has voted for legislation that will cost Pennsylvanians tens of thousands of jobs. These include the cap-and-trade energy tax (RC #477, 06/26/09) that was opposed by 44 democrats, including four Pennsylvania Democrats; the government-run health care bill that would impose billions of dollars in taxes on small businesses (RC #165, 3/21/10); and Card Check legislation (RC #118, 03/01/07) which could lead to the loss of 600,000 jobs (Alliance to Save Main Street Jobs, 03/05/09). There is only one candidate in this race that has been endorsed by the largest association of small businesses – the National Federation of Independent Business – and that is Pat Toomey.

10. FALSEHOOD: Cap-and-trade will create, not cost Pennsylvania jobs.

TRUTH: Many experts have said that the cap-and-trade energy tax will cost Pennsylvania thousands of jobs. According to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, the cap-and-trade bill will have a “profound adverse impact” on the Commonwealth. It will also result in a net loss of as many as 66,000 jobs and a sizable hike in electric bills of residential consumers. (Letter to PA Congressional Delegation, 05/07/09) According to the Beacon Hill Institute, Pennsylvania will lose 47,549 jobs by 2020 and 480,852 by 2050 (The Beacon Hill Institute, June 2009). According to projections by the Energy Information Administration and the nonpartisan CBO, the net effect of the cap-and-trade bill will likely be to slow future job growth (Factcheck.Org, 10/27/09).

10.19.10 | Rubio Campaign Statement On Winning Tonight’s Debate.

Davie, FL – Following today’s U.S. Senate debate presented by Leadership Florida, Rubio for Senate spokesman Alex Burgos released the following statement:
“While Charlie Crist clung to his disproved and blatantly false attacks, Marco Rubio showed once again why he is the only candidate for Floridians who want an alternative to the direction Washington is taking our country. Once again, Charlie Crist put on full display his willingness to say and do anything to win this election and, in some cases, by not saying anything and dodging questions about the serious policy challenges facing America.
